This stream auto-updates

  1. Past hour
  2. That's dumb.
  3. Fortunately it's only 72 degrees in Midtown, Manhattan today with a low chance of rain. Had this been last week during the scorching temperatures, or in the dead of winter, the situation would have been worse. Pix his back to imposing the five minute only preview of their live stream. it was unrestricted during earlier breaking coverage. On top of that, the time it takes for a commercial to play is also counted against the preview. Dan is getting his overtime today!
  4. Today
  5. Summer vacations? She’s familiar with the software and the traffic reporting service.
  6. With a heatwave coming to Southern California, KABC has decided to launch something called “Weather Change Alerts” and I guess anytime the weather makes a sudden change, they will issue this alert. It seems like they are trying to rip off CBS LA and their “Next Weather Alerts” but hopefully KABC is truly doing this for the benefit of the viewer and not just because another station in town is doing something similar.
  7. This is interesting; she was the last in-studio traffic anchor before she was reassigned to general assignment reporting. I wonder why they'd suddenly shift back to a traffic anchor (unless it was just to fill in for Guy).
  8. Dan Mannarino and Shirley Chan now lead coverage directly from the streets
  9. CNN has a piece on how WPIX anchoring from the field: https://www.cnn.com/2026/07/07/us/live-news/nyc-pfizer-building-evacuations?post-id=cmraujpjk00003b6r75mw2mw3 When reports first came in about an unstable building in Midtown Manhattan, the local TV station PIX11 was in the best position to cover the news, because its studio is directly across the street. But the station was ultimately too close to the story; it had to halt live coverage when authorities evacuated its building around 11:15 a.m. ET. “It was a very orderly evacuation,” morning anchor Dan Mannarino said on air. PIX11 simulcast the NewsNation cable channel for about an hour until it was able to resume what Mannarino called a “barebones” live local broadcast. The station sent reporters outside and narrated the emergency response as it unfolded. Mannarino anchored from the middle of Second Avenue, which is closed to traffic, and said thousands of New Yorkers have been evacuated from the area due to safety concerns. By early afternoon, the station had cobbled together an anchor location for its shows on the street, with multiple staffers holding lights and cameras. A makeshift control room was being run out of the back of an SUV.
  10. Looks like they are doing a lots of hard punch between reporters, I guess they might remote access to the switcher from the field. With limited access , apparently they cannot put up other graphics, roll videos and such, and somehow they had trouble to bring up audio when toss to another reporter.
  11. It's always interesting to watch news stations function when they have no studio access. One reporter said PIX was having trouble getting things on air so his photographer had to film images off of his phone. What an active summer it has been for the New York City news cycle! Yet again we have another case of a New York City news station left homeless after an incident, WCBS after Covid, WABC after that fire. The big questions: when will the building in question be stabilized and when will WPIX regain access to their facilities.
  12. Side question: I have a friend looking at a job here. Good station for onair? No? How much turnover do they have? Anyone onair leaving soon?
  13. I was gonna same the same. I know Derick. He’s a good guy. But what a stupid move. Not to mention pay. He was likely making 200K plus after a few years at 7. The new reporter opening at WPIX, pays 150. So #1 station to #4 station with a pay cut. And he is good. He deserved better. They are hiring kids these days, far less talented. Side question for WPIX insiders: why did the station layoff all those reporters this spring, just to hire new ones? People like Waller cant be THAT much cheaper, no? Like Anthony Dilo couldnt have been that much more expensive?
  14. They are simulcasting NewsNation instead.
  15. Henry Rossoff reports on X that the Daily News Building was also ordered to evacuate, forcing WPIX off the air. He said they are re-grouping and will resume coverage when they are able to. I believe they stopped at 11am.
  16. They are full coverage on this. Everyone else is sticking to regular programming. I guess they are across the street and part of the story.
  17. PIX11 preempted New York Living to cover the building with 2 columns that buckled on East 42nd street. Dan and Vanessa are on.
  18. Kelly Foster, a longtime anchor and meteorologist at NBC 15 in Mobile who left the station earlier this year, has resurfaced on WALA Fox 10 as a meteorologist working the midday shows.
  19. I noticed Natalie Duddridge is in studio this morning doing the traffic reports, then Guy Staniar was doing the traffic reports for 7am.
  20. Yesterday
  21. WSMV announced during its 3:00pm newscast today that Chief Meteorologist Lisa Spencer will be retiring after nearly 3 decades at the station. Her final day in a full-time role is August 7th. She will still be around in a part-time capacity as needed. https://www.wsmv.com/2026/07/06/greatest-blessings-my-life-beloved-wsmv4-chief-meteorologist-makes-major-announcement/
  22. Former WRTV met Todd Klaassen has joined BAM Weather - a private weather firm out of Greenwood, Indiana. Posted on his Facebook page.
  23. can't wait for the eventuality of Allen owning no stations.
  24. Same here for 17.2 not much outside The Pistons maybe they'll get AC Grand Rapids when they debut next year. Programming is all over the place as well just threw whatever could stick. Since there isn't much syndication Scripps could've maybe put second hours of GMFB, ICrime, I think Dateline & 48 Hours not sure if that was only for 1 hour per-day or if they had second hours, I thought they did. Outside of Byron Allen's dreck that Sinclair dropped from ARC-WMI this past fall & Funny You Should Ask wasn't much they could get for syndication. Scripps News has all morning 6AM to 12PM M-F.
  25. I wonder when WOOD TV DTs will add Antenna TV since FOX17 dropped it last week. I'm kinda surprised Nexstar didn't try and pick it up once Nexstar bought Tribune or sometime in the early 2020s in my opinion. I don't care either way as I didn't really ever watch Antenna TV.
  26. Liz Dueweke formerly of KCPQ FOX13 in Seattle and KFOX in El Paso has joined the FOX 32 team. Says she will share more details soon. https://www.instagram.com/p/DadJq2JFLxj/?igsh=ZHFpZnl4OXNlbzlx
  27. It was interesting when I saw him work mornings at WCBS knowing he left WABC because of that shift. I can't blame the guy, there's nothing natural about waking up at 2 AM. Studies show it's harmful to the human body. Plus, the difficulty with a station like WABC is that they have so much senior talent who never leave, so you may never get off of a shift. Marcus Solis (if I'm correct) is still, working weekend mornings ---- it could be his choice. Joe Torres (and up until a few years ago Sandra Bookman) is still on weekends (could be his/their choice). Leaving WABC might be just what someone has to do to get a better position, being that their talent stays put. Unfortunately in Waller's case it didn't work out for him. He was better off an AM reporter at Disney than Nexstar & Paramount.
  28. I was questioning whether I fell asleep and missed the ball drop, that seems like something that they should show! I liked the segments, it was an OK special.
