Nice bowing down to the Convict-in-chief, ABC. This just put the rest of the news division and the O&Os on notice about criticizing this petulant man-child and the cult members in his administration.

It's not too often you see carpeting in a studio. Usually it was the news desk and stage pieces, but not the floor itself. That could be a maintenance headache unless they have a good cleaning crew. Usually the studio floor is concrete and either painted, tiled or veneered for easy cleanup and durability for movement of sets and equipment. But the sale of their "old" studio (only from 2018) is likely a cash infusion that can shelter the owners from the challenges of broadcasting, especially as an independent owner.

Doing well or not, the series is still happening. The first concert will close the Times Square studio. The 2nd won't take place for another 5 weeks, and will be in Indianapolis at the WNBA All-Star weekend. Locations for the remainder of the slate were not announced. https://www.goodmorningamerica.com/culture/story/gma-2025-summer-concert-series-lineup-122417396

Debuted today at 11. Apparently also a new weather logo on a modified open (the same one that woio wanf and kfvs use) debuted Screen_Recording_20250610_151347_Samsung Internet.mp4

The Weather Channel asleep at the wheel very surprised they didn't have live updates for that outbreak on Sunday in TX, OK, AR, LA or was that only on streaming app. I know unless there were moderate risk days out on the weekend, they just will not have coverage on the weekends, I think when there is nasty weather most just watch the local TV stations as they stay on it when there is a tornado or damaging wind guest of 70 to 80MPH+. I checked many times to see if TWC would have coverage of the nasty storms on Sun but didn't was just there regular lineup on Sun. I hope that Byron Allen sells TWC and the new company will at least care when an outbreak happens.

I believe Disney will sell it. It's prime real-estate. Concerts on GMA aren't doing well, they were having difficulty finding sponsors over the past few years. Suspect that the series would be trimmed down.

Lester Holt stepping down from NBC Nightly News

Yeah, I thought that Ellison Barber was going to take over Top Story when Tom became anchor of Nightly News. -

Lester Holt stepping down from NBC Nightly News
GodfreyGR replied to JosiahCubed's topic in Network News
I think, unlike George, Lester actually wants to reduce his workload. As for contributing, NBC has a precedent with that- Brokaw sat in on election night for many years after Nightly. Often times, we see an anchor emerita so a special interview- Diane Sawyer still does a limited number for ABC on occasion. No matter what, expect Lester's role to be reduced, and get smaller over time as he get s closer to full retirement. -

Yesterday, WWTV/WWUP completed the move from their studios in Cadillac to their office in Traverse City. A local school district purchased the Cadillac building in partnership with Heritage Broadcasting.

I wonder what the summer concert series looks like moving forward. Hudson Square isn’t close to Central Park, it would take forever to get between the two during that time of day.

bennettmonk started following Motion Graphics agencies that did news graphics in the late 90s?

I doubt Kelly will be leaving the show. Not saying she won't, I just highly doubt it. At the end of February, she had to suddenly leave between tapings one day and missed the next day. Came back for a day, then the show was dark for a week. She then missed the following 10 episodes when they came back. From what I've heard, there was a sudden health issue that came up in her semi-immediate circle that she had to take some time to help deal with. Since she nor any of the higher ups at the show have said anything publicly about the absence, the NY Post and Daily Mail have ran with this weird narrative that she's leaving that keeps snowballing. Then you have all the leach websites that keep regurgitating the stories as fact. She's missed time in previous seasons and there wasn't a big deal made about it then, not sure what's different this time?

I doubt it, look at the wall on the set. It wouldn’t make sense to reprint the graphics again and change out the wall. It kinda looks the the X in FOX. Kind of similar when KTXL had a X on the wall on their previous set.

Lester Holt stepping down from NBC Nightly News
tylerSC replied to JosiahCubed's topic in Network News
Tom Llamas is doing a decent job so far, but I find myself still missing Lester Holt. Which begs the question, I wonder if they will still have Lester participate in special breaking news events or election coverage? Not as the principle anchor in which Tom will now assume that role, but as an elder statesman offering his perspective? Or would that create conflict similar to David Muir and George Stephanopoulos where lines had to be drawn? Or perhaps allow Lester to do special interviews or contributing reports? If they allow Savannah Guthrie to participate in special events coverage, certainly they could still make room for Lester. I would like to see that, in addition to his role on Dateline. -
I was not aware of that. But why would they decide to remove CBS/NBC logos but not FOX? And do they have any ABC affiliates? I personally prefer network logos as an identifiable aspect of the station. Especially heritage stations such as WBTV in Charlotte which has been a long term legacy CBS affiliate since day one dating back to 1949. And I especially dislike WJZY in Charlotte becoming Queen City News and a very understated FOX Charlotte, rather than the former FOX 46. Although that is a Nexstar decision rather than Gray in that scenario.
-
I think this will be the fad for the next decade. At least big desktop screens never caught on like the Fox News Deck.
-
It's not a bad thing on a normal day-to-day basis, no. It only becomes a problem when the station group still expects stations to churn out sponsored sports shows and specials during football season, or for whatever soccer tournament is on Fox air these days.

What is Disney planning on doing with Times Square? Was it a lease or do they own the building? Watching the flashback video on GMA this morning was interesting, the place was such a unique design and fun layout but it looks like they just gave up after the pandemic. The set is so dark and depressing. Hoping for a bright refresh next week.
-
That is what it feels like to me, they are keeping the seat warm for now just in case CBS decides the current Evening News format isn't working. Shall we start a betting pool for when Maurice will be back at CBS 2?

Interesting shot -- I kinda liked KSWB's previous set... I'm hoping to God they get new graphics with the new set -- kinda hoping for the Nexstar Fox package that WXIN and WDAF received
