KMBC-TV's looks really cool. Actually, the News opens looked awesome.

Brad Byrd is departing WEHT (and WTVW) after 46 years; not calling it retirement. The guy is the real deal and I’m guessing he is just done with Nexstar or they want to cut costs. https://www.tristatehomepage.com/news/local-news/brad-byrd-to-leave-weht-wtvw/ https://www.facebook.com/100001492077485/posts/pfbid0muFUbrjj3z653qoeYk2Ypw5YvHfyovjP8eoZqwC1GSzkgrdfqzEBZAKrWFvVxeUjl/?

More stations have picked up these new opens.....

As @Georgie56 has pointed out, Funayama has covered previous Olympics, so it isn't unusual to be asked back despite working at a non-NBC station. It's a win-win situation.... WCVB has someone in Paris covering the Olympics on NBC's dime and NBC adds an experienced Olympics reporter to the roaster. A simple mistake...

She’s participated in past Summer and Winter Games for NBC.

I was just wondering, I thought it was a tell tell sign the news station is starting to move away from the news reporter.
-
It honestly depends. Some say the morning news is better for parents with young kids?

Why does the article say that wcvb is an NBC affiliate when it's an ABC affiliate?

Small question. It's it a good or bad thing when a news reporter gets moved from evening news to morning news?

TEGNA Broadcasting and Digital General Discussion
GoldenShine_10 replied to ABC 7 Denver's topic in Corporate Chat
I find it very interesting that these broadcast companies have jumped onto the sports bandwagon. I think they see the collapse of regional sports, and the fact that they are pseudo-networks in themselves.- 3596 replies

For 5 seconds, I actually thought it was Karen Kornacki from KMBC-TV, and I was like, "Did she just un-retire just for this?" Turns out, no.
-
It's interesting that they went with the sports reporter from WCVB instead of their NBC 10 Boston station. I'm just pointing this out here.
-
Steve Kornacki and Willie Geist will be a part of NBC’s coverage. As will Golf Channel’s Kira Dixon and WCVB’s Naoko Funayama.

TEGNA Broadcasting and Digital General Discussion

With all the Caitlin Clark buzz, WTHR and stations in 11 other markets (including many non-Tegna stations) will carry 17 Indiana Fever games: https://www.tegna.com/tegna-and-indiana-fever-expand-broadcast-distribution-of-the-fevers-exciting-upcoming-season-in-11-additional-markets/- 3596 replies

If the system carries NewsNation, all Nexstar would have to do is ask them to carry either the CW feed or one of their adjacent CW O&Os. That may be a harder ordeal than trying to please the FCC

They could also launch their own cable-only station with the Plus feed and have someone handle advertising.

I’ve noticed lately that KTLA has been using a new font when they show current/future temperatures. It’s a possibility that they may be testing for a new graphics package in the near future but I don’t want to speculate too much.

It's complicated. The CW / Nexstar could ask cable companies in Detroit to put stations like WLAJ-DT2 in Lansing, Michigan, WBSF in Bay City (Michigan Thumb), or WTVG-DT2 in Toledo, Ohio. On-Air; Well, good luck with that.

Pretty simple here: the CW winds up without a Detroit affiliate.

The Ever-Evolving Gray Graphics Situation...Thread
GoldenShine_10 replied to NEOMatrix's topic in Graphics
Sometimes I wonder what some hypothetical color combinations would be like for GrayOne. For example, if Gray owned a station in Pittsburgh (would require either CBS to walk away from its non-top 10 O&O's, or a Cox and Hearst deal), the yellow and black would look really good I think. I also think some purple is needed for WVUE when it goes to the package. -

Okay question, what if WDIV declines to put the CW on one of it's digital sub channels? Then what does Nexstar do?

WDIV will probably get the affiliation it’s kinda impossible to land somewhere else. So I see why Mission wants to close.

Here are the options: Any Windsor, Ontario stations are an big NO. WJBK is an bit of an problem, they could put the MyNet program service on 2.2 or an its main signal on late nights. WDIV is the most likely. WXYZ, WKBD, WWJ, WADL, WMYD, or any other station won't be an option.
