Well he doesn't necessarily owe Kelly anything and technically he told her before the official announcement was made regardless of how long before he did it. She's not his boss or his immediate supervisor. If his bosses told him to keep quiet about it then that's what he should do. Also how plausible is it that one network show was taking a personality from another and Gelman/Kelly seriously heard nothing about it? Does anyone on here actually watch LIVE? It's not nearly as good as it was when they teamed up 4 years ago. She treats him more like a sidekick than a cohost. Doesn't LIVE go on a hiatus during the summer time? Everyone has their opinions on how this has been planned and carried out, and none of you guys in reality have any clue. I'm seriously not seeing the big deal, he announced that he's leaving one show on the same network technically for another. What is the harm in this? The chemistry between him and the GMA people has blossomed and is pretty good. Read social media, most trending topics are people voicing their grievances regarding how disappointed they are in Kelly for not being there today for Michael. Lastly, GMA is obviously not going to be a strictly news program anytime soon. The most prosperous periods in the shows history have been when they've been a good mix between news and entertainment. Therefore there will be a place for Michael for a long time to come. A few reports are that Robin, George and Michael will become the face of the program and are safe. Which means Amy, Ginger or Lara could be in danger.3 points

http://www.ftvlive.com/todays-news-1/2016/4/20/kc-station-hires-traffic-reporters-doppelgnger I used to enjoy reading this website, however, I've become disgusted as of late. First, he posted video of the child of a WFOR producer a while back. You leave family, particularly minor children, out of your stories. No ifs, ands, or buts. Then when the Wendy Bell story broke, there was a story about her almost everyday for many days straight. Now, his new obsession is Kacie McDonnell. He doesn't like when they question him and instead posts their emails (which I'm sure he cuts and pastes to his benefit). Like I said, I used to enjoy reading his website, however, I think he has become a mean bully who has no boundaries as far as crossing the line.3 points

Just had @TMBtD confirm a find of mine by getting in touch with the composer. I think you'll be excited. This is a lead I've had for years but was reluctant to go through because I thought the @pacbell.net email the guy had was dead as a doornail. It wasn't. While I wait for him to post some confirmation (the NMSA is also in the loop on this one)... I've had a few dead leads for years and I feel like posting them may open something up. Some have been languishing at the NMSA. -Some alternate titles for the "Turn To" image song revealed other localizations, but a few didn't have leads: "Tell 'Em You're From Duluth", "Tell 'Em West Michigan's Great" and "Turn To 26". -A Telemundo News Theme in BMI composed by Alvaro Morello and published by Nuevo Mundo Music. This led me to the discovery that the KBLR 2007 theme (used for Telemundo's "Conteo de Noticias" when they had major local news cutbacks) is his work: http://alvaromorello.com/ (go to Video and then click on TV). The site seems to be a bit out of date technically now but I do remember this from 2012. -WATE 1980 or 1984 was composed by Scott Hamilton Evans, a local jingle composer. Perhaps his most enduring work was "Energy Express", composed for the 1982 World's Fair. (Just shy of half a million records were sold of that tune!) When I found this the 1990 and 1991 themes had not yet been traced as DeWolfe and a song. The theme has to be older as he was listed in SESAC with a 615 area code number — and in the 90s 615 was removed from the Knoxville area. I suspect 1984 over 1980, but who knows. -3 points

NBC is NOT moving stations in PDX. KGW is one of NBC's strongest affils owned by one of NBC's strongest station groups, and they just reupped with the network not too long ago.2 points

Baruch was there like one day I remember but the rest of the time it's just been the anchors I believe.2 points

Sinclair's NTV/KFXL deal from the Pappas trust is done. They'll probably announce the completion of this sale tomorrow morning (4/4) when they release their Q1 earnings. The only station that's left in the trust is WLGA in Opelika, AL. And that deal is awaiting consummation.2 points

The Star-Tribune wrote about Diana Pierce's buyout and departure from KARE-TV. http://www.startribune.com/pure-class-kare-s-diana-pierce-bows-out-the-same-way-she-rose-to-the-top/376394821/2 points

I spoke with the former Creative Director from WTVJ, he said that they bought the theme outright, they own it 100%2 points

Relax it was just the PR. I still think he could have gave her more of a heads up. Granite he doesn't owe her anything but if you are going to be there for a few more months then he could've told her. If she become sour than let her. She's human. I'm sick of people always saying its the business. But when it isn't happening to you its different. I've been put in a similar position, on a much smaller scale. Its hurtful and I don't blame her not being there today. Because people were ready to see there reaction and even if she was supportive it would still be a store about how it's all fake. Its a damned if you do, damned if you don't for both in this situation.2 points

This PR is definitely not turning out well. Dumb on Bob Iger's part to keep this from Kelly and the "Live" staff. That said, I still think Michael will fit in very well at GMA, he already has such great chemistry with the team and it will only grow stronger with him there 5 days a week.2 points

It's not a crazy thought. While Ron and Carol's resignations were two of the catalysts that led to management's firing, I do believe the bosses would've been canned in due time. If the two anchors last long enough, they would have likely faced off against a more beatable post-Drury team of Krashesky and Burns on 7. That said, if Carol never leaves 5, and their ratings fall to the bottom, Lester Holt and Linda Maclennan on 2 likely benefit and don't get demoted in favor of Carol's solo newscast in 2000. A lot of variables, but I think it's clear that WLS was (and still is, to a point) so dominant because of key mistakes from WMAQ and WBBM through the late 90's. People don't realize how close both stations were to unseating the leader about 20 years ago. A few of CBS 2's formats actually had temporarily competitive periods, and Ron and Carol came within a point of the top several times, frequently winning in the demo. Sound familiar?2 points

Just caught the replay...They haven't missed a beat. There's a genuine trust and respect (chemistry if you will) between these two that remains, in my eyes, unmatched by anyone else in this market. I hope to see (in some compacity) these two together again.2 points

Ha! And this morning they posted on Instagram another group photo taken together - along with Camille Edwards - in front the EWN van outside the station garage. Was all part of the big promo shoot day.1 point

It would be a poor move for Tegna to give Jim Guy the chief meteorologist position. He has no warmth on air, and a non-existent sense of humor. I agree that seniority-wise it would be a natural move for Rich Marriott to take over. King has been grooming Amanda Grace since her arrival from Boston several months ago. She and Greg Copeland have chemistry, and deliver the news with punch, using humor where appropriate. Out of all of the 4 'top' names to depart KING, I will miss Linda Byron most. She shined during the Martin Pang and Amanda Knox stories. Her writing is sparse but concise.1 point

Trust me, I'm not throwing stones at KSHB or any other competitor. Fortunes can flip quickly in this business.1 point

I can't count the number of times someone on here has seen and shared a video pre-debut graphics package or set, the poster apparently notices an uptick in views, and hides them.1 point

Apparently Kelly didn't show up to work today because she very Angry. But at who> How about just be a adult and show up to work? If I recall Regis didn't tell her ahead of time that he was leaving but yet she showed up the next day. There words that ABC could be planning a Third Hour of GMA and so Disney would cut LIVE! a few years short and kelly Contract expired in 2020 and so she was probably only yesterday told of this plan. There is more to this story I feel1 point

http://www.tvguide.com/news/kelly-ripa-michael-strahan-protest/ Well this story just seems to be getting awkwarder by the day. Supposedly Kelly sat out in protest on today's show as she was not notified ahead of time of his decision. Wow, they have to work together another 3-4 months. This whole things has been poorly planned from the beginning. 1. Not notifying co-host ahead of time. 2. Having him exit at end of summer. Better bet would have been for them to give him his swan song at the end of May and use the summer to test out co-hosts so they could start September with a new co-host. Instead, they will start September with rotating co-hosts, and based on the last two times they searched for a new co-host, may have to sit through a year of that. 3. I understand the want to strengthen your morning show, but why do it by weakening one of your other shows (yes, I know it technically isn't a network show)? 4. The article also includes the notion that GMA may be looking to extending until 10am. If this is the case, it would be smart to move LIVE to 10am sandwiched in between GMA and THE VIEW (not sure how that would work in C/M/P time zones). It would be stupid to cancel the show as it performs extremely well in the ratings, and ABC should know how hard it is to get a successful talk show (Katie, FabLife, The Revolution, among others).1 point

Anthony DiLorenzo was in for Craig this morning with Kala Rama (husband and wife) Kala posted a picture on Instagram yesterday saying the last time a husband and wife anchored was Joe and Pat Harper back in the 70s.. Has this happened on any other NYC station besides PIX?1 point
