  1. Didn't know they moved to static camera positions. I'm watching a tour and they mentioned a JITA cam (assume they mean jib in the air) that does the overhead studio shots. So does that position move?

  2. And as for the "big names", maybe if they hired competent journalists instead of washed up buzzworthy divas like Swann and Reed they would at least be respected instead of being ridiculed into oblivion...

  3. http://www.ftvlive.com/sqsp-test/2017/5/16/pushed-out-in-denver Ed Greene, the longest-serving weather forecaster in Denver, is being kicked to the curb at KCNC. The Denver Post says that the station will not be renewing Greene’s contract as senior weather forecaster. Over the next six months, Lauren Whitney will be phased in to the evening newscasts in his place. The move is not his decision, Greene said. “I guess management is ‘going in a new direction?’ ” Greene said in a frank email. “I did not ask for ‘more time to spend with the grandkids’ (don’t have any, yet), or to spend more time at our home in Santa Fe (wife still busier than ever with her business … and we still have a student up at CU).” Greene will become a part-time contributor at the station, doing fill-in work and representing the station at community events.

  7. I kinda wish Hearst would buy Meredith and pull a WIAT. I have followed Swann over the years and he would be better off doing talk radio. Less complications.

  9. Putting BriWi at 6pm would extend the daypart hours to 6pm (the NBC News branding ends with MTP Daily), so there's the Andy Luck thing of bringing the news back to the channel. As for Greta, she does struggle in both delivery and lead-in, but in all fairness, it's probably the softest place they could put her -- against the third daily hour of Wolf Blitzer on CNN, and whatever is over there on Fox. Putting her at either 10 or 11pm would garner the same results either the first or second hour of CNN's Lemonade Tonight or at 10, against Sean Hannity, something she probably wants to avoid.

  13. I understand some of their concerns - there should be a prompter and an off air monitor at the minimum. They could have handled it much differently. As for things like the factoids or famous moments they talk about - they should do their research. I understand there are things that are expected to be prepared but they are the anchors of the show. This is an event they knew ahead of time and they should be brushing up on it. They should do their homework. It's not like they are being asked to do play by play. Hell if they can't be bothered they should download media guide or even Wikipedia which is filled with on facts.

  14. I agree although the only conflicts for a Hearst-Meredith merger would be in Greenville/Spartanburg and at least 1 or 2 other markets where both Hearst and Meredith own a station

  15. WGCL should've gotten rid of Swann when they had the chance. That has made the station even more of a laughing stock. Plus, that article has mentioned of how planned afternoon/evening coverage was scrapped after the weeknight anchors sent an e-mail.
