  1. John Oliver targets a niche audience - liberals who pay extra to watch HBO. His monologue only resonated with them... and no one else.

  2. WCJB's logo is a carbon copy of WRDW/WAGT, but it's a nice improvement.

  3. I like John Oliver but he's not worth paying $22 every month for bad movies and Dungeons and Dragons with boobies.

  5. It is funny when rumors of Sheena taking Glenn's job had everyone crazed - but now that Tammie has actually done it - nobody cares. Odd. Was it just something about Sheena? or am I missing something here?

  6. It's going to take a while to get used to a Nexstar that's finally been convinced 'call letters in a web address without some hokey 34-letter branding aren't terrible'.

  7. Has anyone heard what is being done to the WFMZ studio? In addition to this from Eve Russo's facebook, there were recent changes to the traffic office (which is on that upper level) and new lighting for weather. Just curious what other improvements their massive studio may be getting.

  8. I believe the main monologue segment is usually available on HBO's YouTube channel.

  9. It's as if Vegas viewers didn't notice that KSNV went from a quite liberal owner in Jim Rogers and having left-leaning John Ralston as their chief political analyst to Sinclair, Boris Epshteyn, and Attkisson. Speaking of Sinclair and Attkisson, I would think if they were in total confidence in the show, they would syndicate it to other stations outside their footprint. There's probably a number of network-affiliated stations run by conservatives that would like to add some "fairness and balance" to counter their network Sunday morning programming.

  10. Where's Studio 55 though? I thought WLNY used WCBS's studio.

  11. The best one are the WLOS numbers. There was absolutely no change in the ratings for the 10:30am airing right before This Week. But hey, at least they had 100% growth in ratings for the 12am rerun after Joel Osteen.

  12. It's one thing to keep viewers aware of what's going on in the world with things like ISIS and stuff like that, it's another to create a segment with ominous looking graphics and music to instill fear into your viewers into thinking that Trump is the only one that can protect them. And as Oliver pointed out, the fact that they use stories about the burka ban in France which has absolutely nothing to do with terrorism just shows how the segment is supposed to just be that "Muslims are scary". That said, seems like Sinclair stations will be seeing more of him as they have increased the number of must run segments from 3 to 9. I'm sure the fact his Administration is plunging deeper into a crisis as this decision was made is a complete coincidence. That said, it doesn't seem wise to add segments from someone who is Russian as the Administration you're backing is involved in a controversy over how close its ties to Russia are. http://thehill.com/homenews/media/341336-sinclair-boosting-airtime-for-former-trump-official-epshteyn

  13. Yes but he was a contributor before that. Additionally his show was two hours long from 8-10pm and promoted. I haven't seen any promotion for Hugh's show - it just sort of premiered. Chris started guest hosting shows in 2010 for Maddow, Keith, Schultz and Lawrence.

  14. Chris Hayes started on Weekend mornings! I honestly think MSNBC is finding the right formula to balance news and opinion. CNN tries to balance but fails every time. FOX doesn't hide their bias but they hit a ceiling. There are only so many pro-trump viewers to capture. Personally, I use to watch CNN during the day and go to MSNBC in primetime but now I stick with MSNBC all day. I think the "MSNBC Live" branding, as opposed to individual shows, with a variety of anchors has really pushed the news side above CNN. Exactly. NBC has no certain future now with Megyn Kelly. How much longer can Sunday Night last? Ratings are terrible and after SNF, it is highly doubtful it will return.

  16. I think that's where MSNBC failed on this particular endeavor. Apart from the stigma you mentioned, the addition of Greta felt so sudden.

  18. I'll say this from a non-partistan perspective, Greta was very hard to watch. She just was a sloppy host and didn't really offer anything. As an NBC News/MSNBC loyalist who watches virtually every show all the way through, I honestly did not watch more than 5 minutes of her in 6 months at the network. As for Ari Melber, he's nothing special either. They're trying to sell him as a serious, unbiased journalist but his liberal commentating past is evident. He'll do better than Greta, but I don't think he'll be the major draw someone like Joy Reid would be. If Greta was fired for her poor ratings (every hour from 4pm to 11pm grew in total and demo viewers except hers) they should look at Chris Hayes next.

  20. It's a shame. Her show was decent but the Fox stigma probably hurt her more than anything with MSNBC loyalists. Ari's a good host and analyst.

  23. They launched on their expanded systems on 6/21 so yeah it's still fairly new. Most TV listings I've researched do not reflect the change yet.
