The intricacies of local TV station ownership are too much for a lot of people on both sides. I had to explain to someone that WLOS was not owned by ABC and its newscasters didn't work for ABC.5 points

Nexstar is buying the non-license assets of WLWC from OTA Broadcasting for $4.1 Million. OTA had bought WLWC from Sinclair several years ago and sold its spectrum in the incentive auction.2 points

No fluffy??? Why no fluffy? Sometimes fluffy is the best part of women. No Fluffy is like Rachel Maddow Anti-Fluff. Fluffless....or a negative kerfluffel. How about you give us a 'lil fluff...just a little.2 points

Quoting Megyn Kelly's interview with WNYT, NBC in Albany : "This new show will have a lighter tone, but she says it won't be fluffy by any means". - Any updates or speculation on what studio will be used?2 points

Personally, i'd go for the Putin Media Service/America or PMS America2 points

But not before Sinclair changes their name to Reichs-Rundfunk-Gesellschaft first.2 points

I highly doubt that Sinclair will pick up either Hannity or O'Reilly. These guys have egos the size of Jupiter and will demand a salary to match that ego. There is no way Sinclair's penny pinching bosses will shell out that kind of money for these two. They'll just turn WGN America into a rerun heavy channel with programming acquired on the cheap.2 points

Yeah! It's like one stupid tourist gets stung by a jelly fish, or steps on a sting-ray...and I get blamed. Bunch of haters...and besides you decided to "protect" all those yummy seals and otters just so you could all feel good about yourselves and take your selfies with. The thing I need to remember is not to get short with some people here that I think should "know better". Everyone here has a different level of interest and understanding of these complex subjects. We all kinda educate each other anyway. I have to have more patience sometimes cuz it's a little flaw of mine.2 points

Don't even start with the confusion that is syndication with 'regular people'. It doesn't help that in most places Ellen usually airs on an NBC affiliate, so they think it's produced by the network, while everyone will think the Sony game shows are from ABC themselves. Just this week TVNewser ran with a faulty story that 20th Television's weeknight RightThisMinute ripoff will be hosted by Billy Bush (it isn't) and even they were saying it was being produced for the Fox network when it very clearly isn't. And then there was a few years ago when the local conservative talk radio station with the same calls was forcing the TV station that hasn't done a thing with them for 20 years ago having to state over and over that they have nothing to do with the radio station and were completely neutral to the issue being pushed through the state capitol. Times like those are where I wish the 'you break up, one of you gets new calls' rule was still in place.2 points

I will say that some on the left have gone too far as well. They are also misidentifying several stations as Sinclair whenever a conservative politician appears on their newscasts (they have to sometimes, even in markets where Sinclair is absent). I've seen tweets calling out WTVG (Gray), WOWK (Nexstar), KRIV (Fox O&O) and WCNC (Tegna), at least, incorrectly calling for boycotts or action saying they were owned by Sinclair (when they aren't).2 points

That WAGA open is a treat. Definitely the same shop that did the WBNS and KMID opens.1 point

I kinda miss Hosea Sanders in the morning. Nothing against Terrell Brown, but Hosea's bass voice just screamed "morning TV".1 point

This went under the radar, but KCTV swapped morning anchors. Alexis del Cid is now anchoring the Better Kansas City lifestyle show. Gina Bullard moved from Better K.C. to morning news co-anchor.1 point

Yeah, I could see something like that as a show. It has happened before. I think--more than likely (like 90% sure), that 6A will be its home. Hasn't been in use since the cancellation of The Meredith Viera Show in May (and Maya and Marty in July) of last year. Although, they could also use 3B, 8G and 8H, but that's highly UNlikely.1 point

Gungor was one of the principals in the Narrator Tracks royalty-free library for a lot of years. He's no longer involved with it; local jazz saxophonist Tom Washatka now owns them. I primarily know this because they're based here in EAA-land.1 point

First of all. I've never seen a worst teleprompter reader in my life. No wonder this man never became Press Secretary. I hear that Sean Spicer is available to replace Boris and he'd be welcomed to. Terrorism is nonsense. Terrorism is an emotion. It's like having a news desk for Happiness. But when have you seen profit made in the aftermath of happiness? This is fear-mongering to get people to misplace their judgement and get an advantage. Truly these are attacks and it wouldn't sound as good if they noted every mass shooting that has happened versus perpetrated by certain minorities.1 point

We already know the composer, but I think there's something to be said about the find I have here. I ran across this in the October 19, 1987 issue of the Albuquerque Journal: I think these are the graphics and theme mentioned (this clip aired in late September, a month before the article ran): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=id=npXaI24U8OU;t=20 Yes, WROC 1992 as the NMSA calls it, or in other words, the mysterious Otis Conner package. But it's interesting to see that KOB was using it this early. I wonder if KOB might have even commissioned the package. ——— The opposite is true here. We know the composer and station, but have no copy of this theme. Honolulu Star-Advertiser, December 3, 1989: ——— And here, this is a breakthrough: The Greenville News January 10, 1994: (The similarities to the WEAR Hummingbird stuff, and to The Diary which Hummingbird also did, are definitely there!) ——— WAOW's mid-1980s theme was written locally by Mark Gungor. Is it this? This is from early 1986, and the article is from 1985. You could try to get in touch with him, but he's doing something very different these days. ——— I'm on a ROLL. I predicted this years ago based on BMI repertoire entries, but WLKY 1989, which debuted January 31, 1988, was composed by none other than Phil Copeland.1 point

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that this will come to fruition. Penny-pinching or not, landing O'Reilly and/or Hannity would be a major coup for Sinclair. They'll begrudgingly fork over the cash for them if it means they'll bring in the viewers/money with them. Watch for FOX and Sinclair to start locking horns in the coming years.1 point

Today starts the week of farewells as Lee Jordan and Leon Bibb are both retiring from WEWS after Friday and next Monday. They will be missed from the station after they step down. Leon I saw plans to continue with his Sunday morning show and do some commentaries. OANN can't afford any of those guys. OANN can't even pay for 2ply toilet paper. Sinclair wants this deal in the bag, but you also have to ask how much are they willing to spend on the continuation of a specific agenda? Would it be worth it to them in the long run? We all see how stuff can flip and backfire in a second.1 point
