2. I also wonder why Chuck Todd never filled in on the Today Show. He seems like he could do well in that format. I guess that's the reason why.

 3. Here's a little more inside baseball via my "connection" to the station aka my cousin's wife who works there. Siafa Lewis is being dispatched to Minnesota to report from Super Bowl LII. Katie Kim is going to Pyeongchang to cover the Winter Olympics, but she has to leave weeks in advance before the games start. NBCU pays for both reporters' accomodations (airfare, hotel, etc).

 4. Ok - it's officially here! Ohio January 1993 - Really love WHIZ-TV's Open - can you get more generic? This Region? This Vicinity? This Area? And The World! - Also, can't place the theme they briefly use on their ID - Not a big fan of WCMH's theme, except for the close - would be interested in hearing the complete treatment - Wish I had more from WJW - the theme is so quiet in the morning newscast... - Unfortunately, no WUAB - the VCR froze up after bringing into the hotel room from the car without giving it time warm up (condensation...). 7. I do have an answer as to KYW's 6am newscast in late 1991: They were using NewsDay with Pat Ciarrocchi solo anchoring (Howard Eskine wasn't on the scene yet). (Just found a clip) Also at this time, Jennifer Ward did the 11pm news also solo - it sounds like KYW had gutted the staff and was rebuilding. The 6pm Eyewitness News had only Steve Bell solo anchoring (Beverly Williams had been shipped to weekends along with Lou Tilley...) I did find a nearly complete December 1991 Eyewitness News from KYW (Pat was subbing for Steve) and will be posting it hopefully tomorrow... Jim

 8. http://www.ftvlive.com/sqsp-test/2017/12/8/raleigh-station-names-new-anchor WRAL taps WBNS weekend anchor Jeff Hogan to take over for the retiring Bill Leslie in the summer, although he'll start in January. I'm honestly surprised WRAL didn't promote from within, Ken Smith was my choice to get the spot, as he had worked with Renee Chou in the past when she was his weekend evening co-anchor.

 9. Wait, really?! I was in Bradenton last week and it not only had the FOX O&O theme but also the Impact chimes. I was so happy to hear them! I even mentioned it in the Chatroom while I was in Bradenton last week.

 11. Not much from Mid-Michigan - my grandparents lived in Muskegon, so it was mostly Grand Rapids (barely could pick up WUHQ/WOTV from Battle Creek, and it wasn't on Muskegon cable in the 90s), plus the occasional clip picked up from WPBN or WWTV with Rabbit Ears - plus they just had cable - no external aerial.

 16. I enjoyed KTVI's 2 News Team since its the 2 News Team package and I wonder how Lisa (LaFlamme) would react to the CKCO video now that she's a part of the CTV National News. I also enjoyed the L.A. news clips as well, especially the KCBS ones since those are still rare in my book.

 17. I bet KDFW will use the new theme for Good Day DFW, but FOX O&O (OSI Music) to continue on the evenings.

 18. I bet when KDFW get this music, they'll dump that 7-day forecast chime from Outlaw News.

 19. Have you heard of TicToc? No? Well its not the Tic Tac Toe game, but in fact, TicToc is the new Bloomberg global news network that'll be streamed only on Twitter. It begins next Monday, a week before Christmas. https://twitter.com/TicToc

 24. WLVI still using its Field-era logo in the Deathstar ID, fyi... I’m still searching for their first opens under “The Ten O’Clock News” which was nearly two months away from premiering at that point. Would love to see it. Here’s an inside look at KOKI’s news in 2006, narrated by Sean Caldwell.

 26. All those opens from Ytown, Wheeling-Steubenville and Cleveland stations take me back. Especially the Ytown I've never seen the close of WYTV from that era. One market I would love to see from is the early 90s to early 2000s era would be the Charleston-Huntington WV market.

 27. Looks like the former WV Media Holding stations have went to back to call letter websites. When Nexstar took over those stations under brokerage agreement websites changed to example: tristateupdate.com for WOWK. Now it's back to wowktv.com same goes for WTRF, WVNS and WBOY. Could this be a sign of change?

 28. And another quick bit, including KXAN's 25th Anniversary "tribute" - at the end of the newscast, but a quick glimpse of the KTVV open I became familiar with (before I got a VCR...) Promos & IDs recorded off air from KXAN, KHOU, WJSU, KBTX, KPRC, WSVN & KWQC.
