1. 65 years ago today, a Station on channel 43 in York, PA signed on the air, giving the Susquehanna Valley another choice for television other than WGAL. That is WPMT (signed on as CBS affiliate WSBA-TV, a TV sister to WSBA 910 AM at the time), which is the oldest UHF Television Station that continues to operate today that never changed it channel since sign-on (The first continuously operating UHF station ever belonged to KPTV in Portland, OR, now on channel 12). Here are some promos from WPMT in 1990.

 2. Yeah its a bit surprising that she will not be home with her newborn baby for Christmas, but maybe she can go home right after the broadcast? Usually on Christmas Day the New York stations air basketball games all day, but it looks like GMA will be airing so she may be needed to do cut ins, unless she goes home right after the broadcast and Lauren does all of the cut ins and leaves for the day.

 3. I fully expect the creditors to flip the station should they gain control. Every owner in the Cleveland market is in "buy" mode and aside from WJW and maybe WOIO and "WUAB", this station is the perfect opportunity to expand their news product on to....and why WJW would want to buy them to keep that from happening.

 4. I'm seriously a sucker for local Spanish news stuff from back in the day, particularly Univision. No idea why. Maybe it's because it's was the home of Sabado Gigante. Here's a very rare video from KSMS-TV circa 1996.

 7. I recently came across some important information you may want to read. WROC's 1987 news theme, also used by KDKA in Pittsburgh, was composed by none other than John Sutton. This is according to a post by Ron Dylewski on the Rochester, NY News & Television Archive Facebook page. He states: "But I was involved in doing WROC's theme in the 80's and it was not a Klein and Co thing as I recall, it was composed by John Sutton who did the "KD and You" theme for KDKA. The timing seems right. We went to Nashville and did an ROC version, struggling a bit with how to say "Rochester." As I post this, here is another sample of the classic KDKA theme used on WROC in the late 1980s.

 15.
Because it thinks KDKA’s early 80s theme was We’re 4, and they used the same theme as WROC at the time (specifically on the station ID that is in WROC’s open): There’s a KDKA “Renaissance 2” promo from 1983 that used the same 4-note tune at end of it:
I'm pretty sure you and @ChesapeakeTV and @KnoxvilleTVFan are correct on this. I don't think these cuts and opens are related in anyway to the "We're 4" package. Side note regarding We're 4.... I have a sneaking suspicion that Gari or one of his main "go-to" composers was contracted by Klein& to produce the news package back in the early 80's. Why? Because one of Gari's early 90's CD demo samplers, featured a demo image song, un-related to WBZ, that was made for WNBC.... I still remember some of the lyrics...... then the track featured the "Klein&" main news open cut that we're all aware of. Anyway, there's my two cents over We're 4 and such :D

 19. The open graphics were sort of lackluster — they were an affiliate package that a couple other stations used (KCCI, WBMG) — but the music was and remains incredible, and the in-show graphics were definitely ahead of their time. 25 years on, it still sounds amazing. The v3 Sunset 10 that they introduced with it was also very good and an improvement at small sizes over the v2 that was used in The Vision era.

 22. I know Sinclair reupped their CBS affiliation contract not too long ago but I wonder how much work it would be to undo the 1995 KUTV/KSL swap. Sinclair has all the leverage to get what they theoretically want in this case.

 24. Something that came completely out of left field...the NMSA recently lumped WROC 1981 and 1987 into We're 4, of all things. I guess the question is - where did that come from? Quite frankly I smell something fishy, but I'll leave that call to the experts at sifting through the dirt...

 25. WLVI still using its Field-era logo in the Deathstar ID, fyi... I’m still searching for their first opens under “The Ten O’Clock News” which was nearly two months away from premiering at that point. Would love to see it. Here’s an inside look at KOKI’s news in 2006, narrated by Sean Caldwell.
