What about WJW use of Stephen Arnold's Fusion? Now that was a kick-ass theme.5 points

Does anyone know if/when Sade will be back? She's had 2 very serious head injuries now, I wonder if she'll be up to coming back at any point. IF not do we see a reshuffling of the anchor teams again? Or does someone just get the 5 and 11 spot?4 points

Longtime WSMV news anchor Demetria Kalodimos is no longer employed at the station as her contract was allowed to expire on yesterday December 31st. http://www.wsmv.com/story/37167936/wsmv-thanks-demetria-kalodimos There is also an ongoing lawsuit against the station over allegations of "age discrimination" by some of its former on-air personalities that was filed back in late November (Kalodimos was named a witness in the suit). http://tennesseestar.com/2017/12/02/former-wsmv-news-channel-4-newscasters-file-age-discrimination-lawsuit/3 points

X-2 is quite good, but so are the 2000s WNYW packages by Andy Zulla, and Stephen Arnold's really-underused Fusion and Fox '95. NewsEdge was also excellent. The Rampage Gannett pack is an odd spiritual update to Image News with mixed results.3 points

Things must have really changed in the last few years. We NEVER took yellow cabs to anything. It was always town cars...even for stupid airport runs to JFK. If Lara Spencer or Stacy Sager...or even N.J forgot their favorite hair brush at home...it was a town car that was sent. Never a yellow cab. You get better service and discounts with town cars because every station has their "favorite" companies. You seriously gonna tell me some local anchors and reporters don't take town cars to work anymore? Where do they have all the available parking spaces hidden at WABC? ok...ok....to be accurate WCBS and WPIX took cabs. WOR and everyone else took Gypsy. (ya sense a little sarcasm?)2 points

You were just saying you get that she doesn't but went on to expound that she should and her not having one is disingenuous. J told you why they don't do that... it's standard operating procedure. If she goes up to anything above freelance she will get a bio. But as a freelancer she can leave tomorrow and nobody will really notice, shes not really that important there because she is a freelancer I'm sorry to say.2 points

I get it that Candace McCowan is a free lancer. But still, she has been around for awhile and her bio not being on the web site is disingenuous by WABC, but either that's the policy or she does not want it on there. She is on facebook tho so it can't be a big privacy thing.2 points

Not sure if this has been posted yet, but here's a montage of opens and closes of nearly every Southern and Central California TV station from 1993. That open from KTTV is pretty sharp; I hadn't seen that one before. 2 points

Awesome to see that KWTV open, and especially the close again! Remember them from tvnewsthemes.net. Keep it coming @compubit!2 points

That's among the best compilations yet! That KOCO open at 30 minutes in — how many branding ideas did they have just in the 1992-95 period? I mean, let's look. August 1992 - Still using the 1990 TVbD look (very Gannett red-white-blue) with some custom/station-made opens. April 1993 - New open and graphics with the 80s "5" in a box. (The whole open looks sped up!) Late 1993 - A slender "5" with the same graphics; the news is now "5 News". I believe this set was done by John Christopher Burns. The open reminds me a bit of WTLV at this time. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=id=Vlq-pIpfbv4;t=774 1994 - The logo changes *again* along with new music. 1995 - By the time of the Oklahoma City bombing, KOCO has a new circle 5 logo and Primetime News. What were they thinking!? Four or five logo changes in just a handful of years!2 points

HOLY CAKE you have 5 Alive and KFOR from 1993!!!! Jim you have been keeping a mean streak of posting some of our white whales in local television news. Keep it up!2 points

I thought Liz drove herself to work, because didn't a NYPD cop stop her for something and a computer check picked up her license was expired, or something like that?1 point
-
They still plug her in promos so she should be back sometime, but it is frustrating to the viewership because she is missed so much. With that said, I'm sure Sade would love to be back, but I suppose her doctors feel she is not ready. With that said, and I get there are vacations, but it seems that Liz gets the most time off than any other anchor, unless she has it written into her contract. Not only vacation weeks which happen to have holidays in them, but she gets virtually all other holidays off too! Who disagrees?1 point

Last night during the station's NYE coverage, the countdown in Navy Pier was interrupted for some commercials during the last 30 seconds of the countdown but they came back after the fireworks at the Centennial Wheel was ended. Does the station made an EPIC FAIL during live events?1 point

And this is how TVS reported on the loss of its broadcast license more than a year earlier:1 point

I'm sitting here scratching my head as to why they'd change the callsign to begin with (who cares??) and why Eric (who's clearly a huge TV news nerd) would try to grab the -LD variant of an existing -TV.1 point

Fusion's quite kickass. I'll throw in SA's Extreme + Outlaw News*, 615's Magnum and why the hell not, Killer Tracks' FOX 1998 (as dated as it debuted). Honorary mention goes to Kalehoff's WNYW Jazzy 1994 theme. Anyone got cuts of that? So catchy. *Fixed1 point
