1. When I saw Lester do the newscast out in that cold weather in Minnesota, I said how stupid it was for them to put him out there in the cold.He went to South Korea which was bitterly cold, then up have high elevation of being in the mountain and when you add, travel and jet lag it is now a mess. You don't put your top anchor out in no cold air to air a newscast. This is one of the reasons why I don't like NBC and how they handle their talent. They overwork them, when you work and travel it brings down your immune system and a reason where there needs to be more bureaus to accomodate NBC News reporters. If they can't do that then use O&O affiliates as a source of reporting from fields or breaking news.

 2. Yup, I am not a fan of Savannah filling in though, she has no poise for evening news and is depressing to watch. Kate Snow should fill in, I don't understand the hiearchy cause when Lester was weekend news, he filled in for Brian on weekdays. Kate Snow should have that position.

 6. But around early 2000, the L3s were updated to match the rest of the package. I'm not sure which station was the first to use these L3s and I'm also not sure if it was actually very late 1999 that these debuted (but then rolled out to the other stations in 2000).

 7. Besides a couple of promos and 4:30, I believe this is the only other YT clip from WLS's On Your Side era:

 8. He said on twitter that “the best way to cure jet lag is by working”. Which explains his appearance on Sunday. It may be a bit late for them to report from Florida but maybe there’s some exclusive waiting in the wings. His son Stefan has been on the air so maybe it isn’t family.

Shon Gables is the late Amanda Davis' replacement at WGCL/CBS46 and Karyn Greer will do noon and is now head of community outreach. http://www.ftvlive.com/sqsp-test/2018/2/8/struggling-atlanta-station-hires-new-anchor http://radiotvtalk.blog.ajc.com/2018/02/07/cbs46-names-amanda-davis-replacement-shon-gables/

 11. A portion of the open they used during those graphics appears on this demo reel: I know according to site members that their L3’s were ginormous - they were taking up the entire bottom of the screen!

 13. It was Electronic Graphics and Design of Dallas (which I know did WVIT). Not much exists of them these days even in print materials. And this video has a couple examples; WEAR being ripped off by WTVY (both in this video) and WJHG thinking it's in Baltimore...

 14. The need for more News Team 4-era material (1990-early 92) is still palpable.

 16. I would love to see more opens from this era. Linda... we miss you. The golden standard of journalism in Oklahoma but I'm glad she's enjoying her retirement.

 18. Lester got some criticism from media critics that he stayed in Korea while the news was breaking. I highly doubt the criticsm brought him home early, maybe something is going with a family member. Lester is the type of guy that will be there first and leave last. For him to go home early is unusual.

 24. Still on a Utah kick. Here’s some interesting snippets I picked up: I might also add that the middle clip is a 6-parter of all news reporting and no opens. However, it’s the only possible footage of KTVX during that time frame online. If I could take an educated guess on what their image was like at the time, they were using Ed Hopkins (definitely) and some Non-Stop package (maybe First News?)
