1. Also in that same video... Promo for Channel 7 News (while the newscasts were still using 'News Scene' branding). Guess the changeover happened shortly thereafter. Lots of competition from a surging KPIX those days. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=id=Z6H_pmncoAY;m=1;s=48

 2. Hopefully a return to hiring only the best and most qualified -- and retaining them. WABC has become a revolving door over the last few years. I'm doubtful of this, though, given Disney's cost-cutting directives. That may explain the increase in hiring younger, less experienced reporters as well as the increasing use of freelancers.

 3. They need to make a decision if Anthony Johnson will be the back up sports anchor or get to it in hiring a #2.

 4. With Chris Sloan's clips, they're NEVER what they say they are on the box. (Not that that's a bad thing!) It's a KFOR morning newscast complete with open, two bumps, AND A VERSION OF THEIR IMAGE PROMO!

 5. Wow, "The Big News" in 1989? They were so far behind the 8-ball that it had lapped them.

 6. It's primary election night in Illinois, so here's a throwback to the same occasion, in 1992. Here's the complete WLS 6pm newscast from that night. While Floyd Kalber was still anchor, morning anchors Alan Krashesky and Kathy Brock were at the desk that night. Back to 2018, and those two just celebrated 20 years together at 6, and just polished off another election night show just minutes ago. Newscast begins at the 28:25 mark, preceded by a Sam Donaldson-anchored World News Tonight:

 8. I'm sure a lot of these behind the scenes shuffles at WABC will lead to on-air changes too. Hopefully we can see some refreshing ideas from new talent make it on the air.

 11. Honestly, I used to think "Maybe they won't mess with the morning show," but given what's happening now as well as what Sinclair has done with anchors in the past, I would not be one bit surprised if they started getting rid of some of the Morning Show hosts, or trying to lower their pay by a ton to the point that they just quit. This would also cause a big loss in viewership, which is something Sinclair has also proven that they don't care about.

 12. I feel like Sinclair is already going to try to fire him, and they don't even own Tribune yet, lol

 15. In honor of the NCAA national championship game tonight, here's the highlight video that aired on CBS after NC State won the 1983 title on a last-second dunk. Accompanying the montage is the Christopher Cross hit "All Right". It would be another four years before "One Shining Moment" would debut.

 16. He did 7+ hours straight tonight. He held his own quite well. Even though he's not getting the lead chair, and I agree with that move, he has a lot of that conversational style that shows glimmers of Magers and Suppelsa.

 17. I miss Suppelsa on election night. But Ben Bradley has been outstanding in the anchor chair tonight.

 18. Crazy! Someone managed somehow, some way to briefly interrupt a newscast on KRIS/Corpus Christi last night. The screen went black, then you can hear some dude say, 'F--- it. Lick it. Smell it.' The anchor managed to recover and apologize faster than you'd expect in a market that size. No explanation yet. https://www.caller.com/story/news/2018/03/20/kris-broadcast-interrupted-vulgar-audio-viewers-react-social-media/441083002/

 19. Last year when WCAU was down to three meteorologists and of the three one was on vacation and a second was sick, they pulled in WRC’s Doug Kammerer and WNBC’s Dave Price to fill in.
