Milwaukee PBS got rid of their Traffic Channel on 36.6 in January after the spectrum reshuffle. Since early February, they've re-added the traffic portion but now on Channel 36.3, rotating with weather on the new "Milwaukee PBS Weather and Traffic" channel.5 points

Newspapers.com says that Action News became Channel 12 News on April 28th. That was also when they debuted a new set which I believe was used until they bacame "Arizona's News Station" in 93. Here's KRTV in 1997 with Stephen Arnold's Newsleader: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=id=NSam7b4-9sc;t=432 points

Lots of rare New York TV potpourri from the same channel that had the 1979 WNBC sign off! A complete episode of WNEW-TV's Midday Live with Bill Boggs from February 27, 1978: WABC's Good Morning New York (which would later evolve into The Morning Show and then Live with Regis and Kathie Lee) from April 29, 1982: WOR-TV's womens talk show Straight Talk from April 11, 1980: WCBS-TV's public affairs program On Your Side with John Stossel (long before he bacame a libertarian and one of Trump's defenders on TV) from February 1979: You know this channels a keeper when you find something like this, half of an episode of NBC's Monitor newsmagazine from March 1983: The original recorder may have been a doctor, as several of his uploads have to do with the subject of infertility and frozen sperm and eggs.2 points

Holy moly, The Ticket might be the most misunderstood package ever. I'm still not quite sure what it came from, exactly. My personal suspicion, especially after giving it a full listen, is that it emerged from Arnold's work for LIN Productions and the Texas Rangers network in the late 90s: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=id=euTEWR2r7WY;t=1353 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=id=ps7Im4u8238;t=3131 Also, WLAJ 2001 is the cut at 0:57 in the NMSA sample of that package.2 points

This was during its stint as WABU in the 90s. It managed to lure the Red Sox away from WSBK for three seasons (1996 through 1998). It was actually showing some promise as a well-built independent (it even had newsbreaks from its own news department) before Pax came calling. Here's an earlier 68 Sports Night from 1997:2 points

WABU, which was owned by Boston University, had rights to the Sox after TV38 gave them up due to network obligations to UPN.2 points

It's the KWWL News at 6 from the summer of 1994: The theme is heard in full at 8:41 and 18:32 — what is it from? Also several KWWL promos voiced by That Guy™. For the summer of '94, an EMAIL in the close is way cool!2 points

No surprise, but the old ESPN graphics remain for Cubs broadcasts. The package is ultimately inoffensive, and I wish they would've done something with the scoreboard, but I figured that that was unlikely. This will be the look for the 5-year deal.1 point

http://www.pennlive.com/news/2018/04/nexstar_issues_statement_to_co.html Update on the abc27/Flora situation. Looks like Nexstar is going all in for defending the way they do things. A few takeaways ... they say that they are looking at all aspects of the station ... anchor desk changes are coming ... and they are shelling in $3 million in improvements to the station. You can do a lot with $3 million dollars. Stay tuned. Things are heating up at abc27. — Matt1 point

Must’ve been from the same company. Similar graphics were also used at KTVX circa late 90s: And I believe maybe KPHO’s “Fresh News” package: If that’s the case for the latter, this company probably was a Meredith client, except I don’t think WNEM used similar graphics (they were instead using ones similar to KTUL and I believe they kept them until 1996):1 point

KSTP's Eyewitness News at 6:30 open at the end of a 6pm show from 1996: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=id=Lplxhy_lNxM;t=1755 (The graphics and color scheme make me think a bit of KCTV from this era)1 point

As I said in the MLB Thread, the National need to somehow find a way to get off of MASN and onto NBC Sports Washington, where they would have a chance to get games OTA via WRC and in market streaming. The Nationals have been treated badly by the Orioles since they moved from Montreal in 2005. As for MASN, is it me, or are they the Nexstar of RSNs?1 point
-
Maybe they made the price exhorbanant to keep it all in house. The Nationals are now MASN only as well. Edit: Sounds like the decision was made by MASN. And we have a quote from our Helvetica Chief KC. http://www.baltimoresun.com/entertainment/tv/z-on-tv-blog/bs-fe-zontv-orioles-masn-wjz-20180327-story.html1 point

And that's too bad because people that have dropped cable deserves better than that. I think the only time WTTG/WBFF will pick up games involving either the Nationals, Orioles or the combination of the two is if one or both teams appear on Fox's Baseball Night in America other than that, that'll be the only time Antenna/Streaming-only viewers will be able to watch either the Nationals, Orioles, or both.1 point
