  1. Could've done without the discussion of the Kardashians, but I guess that's the nature of that hour.

  2. He must’ve been replaced by Harry Porterfield eventually, as Mort went to WDIV to replace Wes Sarginson in 1978-early 1979.

  7. With the recent report that Lou Dobbs allegidly gives advice directly to Trump through speakerphone, I thought I'd like to remind you of all what he was long before he became Trump's #2 fan:

  8. Not just "two old men," they were lifers at the station - Tom Haley and Del Donahoo. That show was the first pre-8am local newscast in the Cleveland market (NBC slapped it on in 1981) and it only stayed on the air as long as it did because it wound up attaining a loyal following.

  10. And then he got replaced by Lester Holt... God knows where he ended up, at the Peacock. Here’s a look at a WRC newscast in 1990:

  11. Porterfield was reinstated at 6 after Crim's exit. Another demotion to weekends in 1985 to make room for Kurtis' return didn't go as smoothly.

  13. Kelli Cook has crossed the street to WMC in Memphis. She had previously served as weekend anchor/reporter at WATN since 2014. Not sure if she'll be serving in the same role at WMC however, since their weekend anchor team has no vacancies.

  15. They do have a very powerful signal on digital channel 7. One could hope that someone is looking to buy WTVQ/Morris. (sorry I keep saying that haha). WTVQ is a very-distant third rating. They also have a 10PM news on DT2.

  16. The WOWK one goes all the way back to the late 90s with their Hearst-esque look. (before that it was the "13"elieves logo) WVMH simply changed the color of the current "13" and cookie-cuttered it for their other acquisitions....

  17. Extreme: loved hearing it on KOKI, but not ideal for the 2010s.

  18. Really liked him. That’s a huge loss for the station, as they lost Adam Kuperstein not too long ago. Apparently Roxanne Vargas is his replacement in the morning. Not sure about 11am. Not a fan of the move. Also leaves weekend evening and mornings now vacant for WTVJ. Eric’s moving to California. You know, there is a morning anchor position open at KNBC.

  19. Also in that same video... Promo for Channel 7 News (while the newscasts were still using 'News Scene' branding). Guess the changeover happened shortly thereafter. Lots of competition from a surging KPIX those days. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=id=Z6H_pmncoAY;m=1;s=48
