  1. The midday newscast nobody wanted that won't do anything in the ratings when there were bigger news fish to fry? They could've gotten more viewers at 7:00 with no competition than taking two established newscasts at noon.

  2. No.. NBC Nightly News was on a downward climb when Brian Williams was at the helm, ABC was becoming more competitive. Lester isn't going to be a scapegoat for an overall industry trend. Less and less people each year are tuning into the network evening newscasts. I myself haven't watched consistently like I used to in for the last 5 or so years. My parents and grandparents turn it off right after the local news wraps. 10-15 years ago the TV was tuned to KTRK Eyewitness News from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. then again at 10 p.m. for the late news, people just don't do that anymore.

  3. Julius you should understand something... Sometimes the anchors get in a pissy mood... ...and they take it out on viewers like you. They KNOW you are talking smack behind their backs because they can SEE and HEAR you thru the TV screen. Amazing what today's TV sets can do. Once you stop watching...they will buck-up and start saying "goodnight" and "have a pleasant tomorrow". Did you know In England they say "Cheerio" to the happy viewers? How cool is that Julius? Maybe a CW or METV newscast would be better suited for you? Our point is they ( the FOX 29 News Anchors) don't like you.... ...they were gonna fire you as a viewer anyway. Sorry for the bad news.

  4. WFLA's short lived 1992-93 era with Gari's "On Your Side". This set was deemed "too distracting" by management and in August 1993, the set was redesigned and the "NewsChannel 8" era began with a tabloid focus.

  6. What the heck is this all about - was your highlight reel rejected by the station? Seems like you have a personal vendetta more so than displeasure with the news product.

  8. Boy, I just love being the first to post here after 9/11 clips have been posted. #sarcasm Here's some bits of news reports from all 3 Omaha TV stations from the early 1990's, all focusing on the U of NE at Omaha Mavericks. This shows how ahead of the curve WOWT was graphic wise compared to KMTV & KETV:

  9. This KMGH era shown here is a very interesting one - they were using what Logopedia has labeled as the 1974-76 logo around early 1981-1982, but then by 1982 they debuted the logo shown in that video clip. They finally settled with this logo by, at the earliest, April 21, 1983:

  10. Dude we got it after your 2nd post in a row. Too bad you're the minority seeing as WPVIs 10pm on PHL still hasn't beat them at 10 and mornings are profitable for them. If you need someone to say good night call your mom.

  14. i am in the target demo, and the only reason i watch network news is i work in tv and it's on at my desk... if i wasn't working i wouldn't watch... why? because i've heard it already... i saw the same news on Twitter three hours ago... and i didn't have to sit through a bunch of fluff to see it... i'm not sure you will like how they "evolve"... Its going to be nothing like how it is now... one anchor? long opens? all of that will go away... to attract the kiddos... @Weeters needs to make a pure HTML theme for this site so people can pretend it really is 1995...

  15. Couldn't agree more. I watch maybe 10 to 15 minutes of local news (at 5P, 9P & 10P) and that's it. I just don't have time to watch more than that nowadays. Anything else, I'll just catch up on it on-line. God forbid the apocalypse would occur. I'll be up s*** creek.

  16. CBS Nightwatch from 1983 with Mary Jo West, after she had left KOOL and before she joined KTVK (I've cued up the clip to start at the beginning of Nightwatch, but the rest of the clip contains some interesting KMGH promos): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=id=OYR06gieGyM;m=23;s=3
