  1. Maybe WKYC will get the hint too. IIRC, their lack of a 5pm show makes them the largest major network affiliate not to have one. I'm sure they could stand on their own now given the shifts of the marketplace. WKYC has been a contender for at least the last 15 years.

  2. Doubtful, their not gonna risk ratings how they are with Savannah and Hoda. Who the hell do they have left to replace her

  3. Just watched the first newscast posted. Here are my takeaways: -I like the effort and intended purpose of the newscast, but the execution seems off. You can tell that they were going for a lighter feel with "all the information that you'll need" but there were just way too many people coming in and out of the newscast, with Ukee in the first block, and Jessica in the 2nd half hour, just to recap the headline. Natasha and Alexandria (I know Natasha is) are both more than capable of handling the news. -Part of the execution is if they are going with the lighter feel with information overload newscast, then I'm sending sports (with the Eagles) and HealthWatch are going to be major components of the newscast. Why not integrate Don and Stephanie in the newscast itself... Part of the reason (besides ratings) why 10's All That & More with Tracy back in 2006 did not work out was the program had a purpose when Cherie Bank was integrated with health news. But I think that was around the time she had her medical condition began to affect her too. -That's too much having Ukee and Jessica popping in the 4 PM newscast when they do 5, 6, 10, and 11 PM newscasts. -Is it just me or am I hearing them refer to the program as CBS3@4? Do they not want the program to have the Eyewitness News brand? -6 has had the 4 PM Newscast for 7 years now and I think they've perfected the balance between hard and soft news by now. 10 has been going hard news at 4 (especially with 20 minutes non-stop A Block) for at least 5 years now. With CBS3@4, I expect both to follow this... "you do you"

  4. Ellen Moves to 3PM on KXTV this fall. i think this might be another station to add 4PM News which KCRA and KOVR is already doing and this would mean that this would come on the same time as the show's flagship station KNBC.

  6. Watched the EN for the first time since the "EyeOpener" intro debuted. I was surprised and also disappointed. I'm a sucker for news opens, so going from a read of headlines that lead into "This is the CBS Evening News..." to a read of two top stories that bring us to a 1 minute rundown of headlines is a letdown for me because I truly appreciate the classic, old-school ways of not just the news on TV, but shows of all genres. Though I may be an outlier in some ways to my generation of "at your fingertips" and "instant gratification", I do understand why these moves need to be made, even if it does or does not concern Glor's future.

  7. Can't believe it's been that long ago. Well it must have done well enough for them to resurrect it from the dead.

  9. So they wanted Fox so bad after losing it several years ago, when KOZL was KSFX. Looking at Nexstar's press release (which includes WHDF's deal as well) they're buying both of those stations for $19.45M. So the KRBK deal is worth $17.20M?

  10. They could do. It. Have Savannah ditch the 8:30 half hour to do the 9AM hour.

  11. No way folks, they are much worse as Hoda (for that she isn't a good fit to be an anchor)

  20. They already have a duopoly there though? They'd have to shut down or sell KOZL.

  21. There is another example of an online-only newscast that wasn't a short newsbrief. KOKH originated its 5:00 p.m. newscast as a web/app-only broadcast in February 2014; they quickly moved that broadcast to television in September 2014, as an hour-long broadcast.
