  1. And here's the full, 15-minute farewell. Very nice. https://wgntv.com/news/wgn-anchor-steve-sanders-retires-after-37-years/

  3. KNBC L.A.: full 11 P.M. Channel 4 News Nightside late edition from Dec. 10, 1987 (Keith Morrison [still w/NBC News, last I recall], Kelly Lange, Fritz Coleman w/weather, Fred Roggin on sports, the late Jess Marlow w/a Cover Story, and David Sheehan, entertainment [Fritz and Fred are still on the evening edition on NBC4 today alongside Chuck and Colleen, IIRC; also includes short promo for Metro Traffic on Today in L.A. morning edition, mornings at 6:30)

  4. It's a 2003 Eurocopter AS-350 AStar (single-turboshaft). Tail Number N6UX. It has an internal name at the local stations. If I read you into it, I'd have to kill you. I don't make up the rules. https://flightaware.com/live/flight/N6UX Interestingly, the Bell 407, tail #N2QU, that's currently grounded for WSB-TV, used to fly in Denver under the tail #N90TV for KUSA.

  5. Here is a broadcast of the CBS Evening News from New Year's Day 1982. At the end is part of a WTVF news open using TuesdayC by Tuesday Productions. Video comes from BTM0815MA who has uploaded a number of great CBS News broadcasts. Also, here is a CBS Evening News broadcast from 2/1/1982 that includes a full WTVF news open at the end using the "NewsCenter Theme" by Michael Randall.

  6. God, I'll miss him. All of the Chicago TV legends I grew up watching are retiring fast. I think Tom Negovan comes back to Midday and replaces Steve.

  7. Still a work in progress, but as far as I know it’s probably done. If I spot backup helicopters used or find something out I’ll add them.

  12. Chris Ripley has, time and time again, demonstrated this company's delusions of grandeur and utter lack of any knowledge of its place in the media landscape, or the landscape itself, and this strikes me as no different. To hear it from Sinclair, you'd think they were a cross between the modern Disney and '90s Time Warner.

  13. I love the show, but even I'll admit that this has to be the funniest thing the WGN Morning News has pulled off in years. Producer Jeff Hoover has some of the backstory in the video's description.
