MCTYW survives - NEPA rejoice!

It'll be a three hour special in prime time two weeks from now and cause all life in SWB and the Lehigh Valley to come to a halt.

I'm not going to lie, part of me was hoping they'd adopt the Sixeme Son "oohs and ahhhs" just to watch the world burn.

Here's a better shot of the "ABCNEWS NEW YORK" part of the room behind Jennings. The window to the downstairs control room now can be seen. The monitors behind were visible behind Jennings on WNT in the 80's.

Everybody in NEP right now.....

The removal of false walls from the former news bays on each side of the studio revealed windows to the outdoors which were part of the building design. You can see them on the far wall in the picture. Also note the spaghetti of wires talked about in the article. Finally, you can see the black curtain (with protective plastic in front of it) on the right side of the large part of the studio. Behind that was the first temporary set. It would be later removed when it was time to work on that part of the studio.

I'm thinking the same thing. If and/or when that starts, then those Talkback 16 segments will be must watch lol...

Even as a local it makes me wonder how Scranton, of all markets, gets to keep its signature sound, but all the others stations needed to toe the corporate line. Is WNEP that special?

Yup. Definitely some "ABCNEWS NEW YORK" vibes there from the Peter Jennings era.

Interesting that vestiges of the Peter Jennings era dating back to 1986 were still in TV3. Would have loved to have seen some of those set pieces, technology, etc.

I think it's a better fit here than the crazy over the top 3D package the Troika look replaced.

That's what I've been told, too. The new website and app will launch in early April. My WBNS source wouldn't say outright, but seemingly implied the new stuff is coming soon.

I wonder what the hold up is? Is it because WTHR and WBNS decided to join WNEP in the fight to protect their imagery and things that made them so successful for so long or is it something else?

I won't be surprised if that happens either. Honestly, MCTYW doesn't work well with the graphics at all. Kind of annoying, actually.

I would imagine they are keeping the music for now. They don't want to overwhelm their viewers with too much change, after all. C-Clarity will probably start to creep into the shows little by little.

Looks like on the website, WNEP is mixing the TEGNA with the Tribune graphics. It doesn't look bad if you ask me.

I have noticed CBS has taken on a more CNN look and feel of late. Their debate graphics earlier this week were the best I've seen them look in a LONG time - but they're so obviously CNN inspired.

I mean, they save $1250 across the 2 real phrases and my made up one. All 5 vowels are represented. It's the rules.
