It'll be a three hour special in prime time two weeks from now and cause all life in SWB and the Lehigh Valley to come to a halt.7 points

I'm not going to lie, part of me was hoping they'd adopt the Sixeme Son "oohs and ahhhs" just to watch the world burn.7 points

Motion for a Cliff Schwarz / Sixeme Son West Side Story style musical duel. Marching band vs. Glee club! Pre-empt the Wednesday comedy lineup. Bet it would get better ratings. #danceparty5 points

DAMN!! The Schwarz theme survives!!!5 points

The removal of false walls from the former news bays on each side of the studio revealed windows to the outdoors which were part of the building design. You can see them on the far wall in the picture. Also note the spaghetti of wires talked about in the article. Finally, you can see the black curtain (with protective plastic in front of it) on the right side of the large part of the studio. Behind that was the first temporary set. It would be later removed when it was time to work on that part of the studio.4 points

I'm thinking the same thing. If and/or when that starts, then those Talkback 16 segments will be must watch lol...2 points

Even as a local it makes me wonder how Scranton, of all markets, gets to keep its signature sound, but all the others stations needed to toe the corporate line. Is WNEP that special?2 points
-
None of that popping Sixeme theme (that their new sister station down 95 in DC uses....)2 points

Yup. Definitely some "ABCNEWS NEW YORK" vibes there from the Peter Jennings era.2 points

Interesting that vestiges of the Peter Jennings era dating back to 1986 were still in TV3. Would have loved to have seen some of those set pieces, technology, etc.2 points

https://www.ftvlive.com/sqsp-test/2020/3/3/isnt-that-a-month-late The Tegna-fication begins Wednesday at noon. Here's hoping it's ONLY the graphics.... UPDATE....according to reporter Ally Gallo...THE MUSIC IS STAYING!!!!!2 points

Skilling made it through surgery like a champ, with a minor, secondary complication.1 point

There was a Talkback 16 segment that aired earlier tonight. They did have a portion where callers were calling in about the "new changes" that WNEP was promoting in the lead up to today (its toward the end of the video). https://www.wnep.com/mobile/article/opinion/talkback/talkback-16-coronavirus-and-kurts-hair/523-4d31169b-73c0-404e-b200-391d597d762b1 point

I think it's a better fit here than the crazy over the top 3D package the Troika look replaced.1 point

That's what I've been told, too. The new website and app will launch in early April. My WBNS source wouldn't say outright, but seemingly implied the new stuff is coming soon.1 point

I’ve heard WTHR will be TEGNA’ed by the end of the month. I’ll ask my source for an update.1 point
-
I wonder what the hold up is? Is it because WTHR and WBNS decided to join WNEP in the fight to protect their imagery and things that made them so successful for so long or is it something else?1 point
-
They'd already enlarged the time/temp text on the 4.1 point

I won't be surprised if that happens either. Honestly, MCTYW doesn't work well with the graphics at all. Kind of annoying, actually.1 point
-
I would imagine they are keeping the music for now. They don't want to overwhelm their viewers with too much change, after all. C-Clarity will probably start to creep into the shows little by little.1 point

"The F stands for 'you all ask too many f-ing questions'." -Sinclair, probably1 point

That's probably a safe bet. I think that's what's going to happen also.1 point

Looks like on the website, WNEP is mixing the TEGNA with the Tribune graphics. It doesn't look bad if you ask me.1 point

I have noticed CBS has taken on a more CNN look and feel of late. Their debate graphics earlier this week were the best I've seen them look in a LONG time - but they're so obviously CNN inspired.1 point

I mean, they save $1250 across the 2 real phrases and my made up one. All 5 vowels are represented. It's the rules.1 point

If anyone ever thought combining that god-awful C-Clarity with the WNEP National Anthem was possible.... You're welcome. mctyw tegna_mixdown.mp41 point
