  1. WSAZ is like if ain't broke, don't fix it. Fun fact the "3" has been in use since 1971. Big changes came in 2006 with new set, KARE11 gfx, and NBC Collection. Not hearing NBC Collection on WSAZ is really strange now. Signature 93-06 NBC Collection 06 to 20. 1- Balls and Walls 93- 2003? 2- refresh 2003 to 2006? 3- KARE11 gfxs 2006-2011 4-HD launch 2011-2015 5- current 2015 to present

  2. Chris Wragge anchored 6-9am from the CBSN NY studio.

  3. They had this arrangement at 5, too. WFLD's team was separated at 9, and while WLS banished weather and sports from the desk at 5, keeping the anchors together, everyone has been dispersed to other parts of the set at 10.

  4. From one of Michael Pannoni's channels, one of the last USA Tonight (nee Independent Network News) broadcasts from March 29, 1990 (recorded from WGN) Also, tried posting this last night but don't see it here; here's an extended 11:00 WAVY newscast covering Hurricane Gloria in 1985

  5. My preference here, but I think Overture is a better fit. Maybe change the opening cut to the one KOLR10 uses.

  6. Looks like the Broadcasting Center is open again. Maurice did the news from the CBSN NY set this evening.

  7. For those if you're keeping score: (weather was done outside live in various towns powered by the CBS 2 Mobile Weather Lab with Vanessa Murdock (in Manhattan and NJ) in the AM, Lonnie Quinn (in Westport, CT) (who was pre-recorded Thursday) in the PM, John Elliot (in Newark) on Saturday. Wednesday night & Thursday morning (3/12), they used the CBSN New York studio and graphics with Dick Brennan at 11pm and Chris Wragge in the AM. Noon (both days): Inside Edition aired. 5-6:30pm (both days): DeMarco Morgan (who used to work at WNBC from '08 to '12) anchored from KCBS' studio. 9pm (both nights): Inside Edition and Entertainment Tonight aired instead of CBSN New York at 7pm 9pm on WLNY. 11pm/E (both nights): Pat Harvey with Jaime Maggio (Thu) & Kristin Smith (Fri) on sports anchored from KCBS' studio (while KCAL is live nearby). Friday and Saturday morning: Elizabeth Cook anchored from KPIX's studio. No local news updates as they chose to do a CBS News update from DC as it would've interfere with KPIX's AM news and the national map for the local weather update. I think should cancel the weekend morning newscast & WLNY's news this weekend and focus only on the 6 & 11 shows whoever will be producing them. (According to TitanTV, they are doing just that, News is on at 9am.) It could been worse, luckily for the mild winter NYC had, there was no severe weather to deal with. For the KCBS/KCAL's, KPIX's and WBZ's anchors and the production crews as well, this is for you: Here's the AM open from KPIX:

  8. Controversial opinion: I don't hate the graphics on WBNS. The theme, yeah, no, but it looks good enough.

  10. About time! I wonder how much longer until WSAZ gets a new Gray graphics package. They got a new set last year. And now that I think of it, The NBC Collection lasted nearly JUST AS LONG as Signature on WSAZ! Signature was from 1993 to 2006 and NBC Collection was from 2006 to earlier this month. It just seemed dated since the Balls & Walls lasted a good decade on WSAZ before they refreshed the look in 2003.
