  1. WTVJ just launched Look S along with a new set... Bad news: It's time to say goodbye to the long lived WTVJ custom theme; Good news: They're using the KNBC's updated version of LA Groove The new set looks kinda sexy~ I made a quick capture of the first 5 minutes if y'all are interested. Again I'm sure someone will post a better montage on YouTube so I'm not gonna upload it to YT. https://streamable.com/0r6hy5

  2. Rita Garcia? Not my first, second, third or twentieth choice to be honest.

  4. The only thing that matters is that most of her followers (LA or Houston, no matter; the ego needs to feed too, right?) eat it right up and Houston's media game is particularly social media focused (or dare I say, obsessed). So as cheesy as it may have been, no one's hurting. Happy that she found a place to settle at home, regardless.

  5. X-posting this from the YouTube thread, as it's important info about some classic video uploads that are on there. Today is the last day before YouTube privatizes all unlisted videos from before 2017 for some type of security update. In all honesty, this is pretty ridiculous of them to do, but I'm not all surprised to see they're doing some shenanigans that will cause some clips to possibly become lost media. Its so infuriating. https://blog.youtube/news-and-events/update-youtube-unlisted-links/ Anywho, if you know of any videos you might've seen that are unlisted, what I'd recommend is to save them and have the name of the original uploader somewhere in the file name. That way, if you wanna reupload it, you can credit the person who originally posted it, but got the video privated because of YouTube's update. I wish it didn't come at a very inconvenient time for me, but alas

  6. I’ve lived in NYC for about a year now but damn it’s going to be odd not seeing ABC’s presence on the UWS.

  7. Is it the fact that she has so many hashtags in her tweet, or is it the way the video starts that's troubling you (w/her putting her makeup box down)?

  8. Ever wonder how WTVJ'S Set is made? https://www.nbcmiami.com/on-air/as-seen-on/see-the-new-set-at-nbc-6-miami/2502463/

  9. As mentioned, I’m a rather newcomer to NYC but how is Bill Ritter able to get away with his editorial comments during the news? It’s fine to have your say on social media but this man isn’t shy about adding his own commentary to the actual news in obvious ad-libs.

  10. I don't think I ever noticed how shrill-y this KNBC variation of LA Groove was until I heard it here on WTVJ, for some reason. Interesting; a bit of a lower pitch might work out better. Thanks to the montage/video uploaders above for sharing.

  13. One question, how do you view privatized videos on YouTube?

  14. I don't meant to derail the conversation, but FightGuy42 on YouTube has uploaded an Action News broadcast from June 29, 1977. We get to see a young Jim Gardner, Jim O'Brien doing the weather, and Steve Levy doing the sports. Sadly, the video cuts off at the end so we can't hear MCTYW in all it's 1970's glory. But this is still a nice treat to find.

  16. Yeah its understandable that they continue to remain socially distanced. BTW isn't WABC supposed to move into a new building in the village? What is the update on that? Also, any idea on if they are upgrading their on-air look? They've had their current "meh and blah" graphics package since 2016 now haha. I think we are going on 5 years now right with the package. Well, nothing a little Google search can't help with these days haha. Looks like the new building is well underway! https://newyorkyimby.com/2021/03/foundation-work-underway-for-disneys-headquarters-at-four-hudson-square-in-hudson-square-manhattan.html

  17. I think that more than anything industry trends have led to the low numbers. The days of Today averaging 6.5 M viewers were also the days when primetime shows were pulling in 20-30 M viewers and that hasn’t been the case for close to 10 years now. To a lesser extent, I believe (and hope) that the low numbers are a response to how bad GMA and Today are these days. It’s just complete trash watching the first 2 hours of both.

  18. The MAX Radar uses a dark green base map and multiple radar sweeps on screen. Their StormTracker 6 radar has a single sweep centered north of the city and you'll notice the base map is a much lighter shade of green.

  19. Cecily referred to the radar as "Storm Tracker 6 Double Scan Live" last night. I don't know how to tell the difference between the two radars but I still regularly hear them call it their own radar. The graphic says "Storm Tracker 6 LIVE" too.

  21. ABC13 Houston anchor/reporter Steven Romo announced his engagement to FOX 26 and future Fox weather meteorologist Stephen Morgan on his social media pages. In the announcement Romo also said he’s moving to NYC soon and will be leaving ABC13.

  22. Savannah has been working from home recently (I would assume in quarantine before traveling to Tokyo). Al appears to be in his upstate house here. The other three are all seated in front of the video wall in 1A. However, having them in a three shot next to two remote boxes would make everyone too small to see. So visually, it is easier to have everyone like this. For reference, I have attached a pic of what they look like in the studio.
