  1. This looks like a set exhibit at NAB.

  2. I think Byron Allen would've been better merger than Apollo/Standard General in my opinion.

  3. What about WPCH? Sad to say that the station evolved from the groundbreaking WTBS into a local independent station running syndication repeats (mostly at Meredith's behest when they acquired the station from WarnerMedia). While it would nice to use that station as a launching pad for a new-generation SuperStation, it may serve the area better as a full-powered Telemundo station and use the acquired low-power station for their experimentation and content origination (to be expanded in the digital realm). Plus, with their efforts in Cleveland, they can be replicated (and even refined) in Atlanta.

  4. I strongly disagree. Allen basically lets his stations exist, without putting money in them. Tegna is basically just a bank for its stations, and the stations decide what goes on the air and what doesn’t. My personal fear is that these stations will no longer have the money to keep running, and the cheap*****s at Apollo will just hand it over to dead-end companies like HC2.

  5. I'm more than 100% agree to that, and I'll drink to that. I said it before, Byron Allen is the only one he can clean up the mess Tegna made.

  6. Funny how disputes end when it is close to the Olympics & Super Bowl that Dish agrees with TEGNA I'm guessing Dish will drop it's complaint with the FCC.

  7. Just chiming in on this thread. Actually, I composed and produced music for 5 Seattle market TV stations at the same time which all ran concurrently. KOMO TV KING TV KIRO TV KTZZ TV KCPQ TV None of the stations were aware I had done most all of their competitors. This is the first mention of it. There were other stations added to the list. WTVD, WTNH, KOVR, WIXT, KDFW and a few others. Thank you for the info. posted on this site. Dan Dean Dan Dean Productions

  8. WNYT in 1991! Featuring Ed Dague, Chris Kapostasy/Jansing, Bob Kovachick, and Bob McNamara. Also a brief appearance from a young John Gray.

  9. WCBS "Channel 2 News" 1993: Appears to be a 2 set arrangement like WNBC. Top set: features the common multi monitor background of that time period. Great detailing with the Rather era CBS Evening News like world map. A black accent instead of blue on a different newscast. Bottom set has window pane like elements with crinkle cut fry shaped beams featuring a monitor on each "fold".

  10. We've seen WMAQ's coverage of Chicago's Blizzard of 1979 (above). Now, thanks to WBBM's own YouTube account, here's that station's coverage: Part 2: Part 3: Part 4:

  11. Gary DeLaune, a longtime reporter for KENS in San Antonio who was covering sports in the San Antonio area as late as a few months ago, died yesterday at 88 (DeLaune had been diagnosed with COVID before contracting pneumonia as well) https://www.kens5.com/article/entertainment/television/iconic-kens-5-journalist-gary-delaune-dies/273-53c5761e-c51a-4efc-8ff4-a78665946479 In addition to his work with KENS; DeLaune is probably best known for his work at what was then KLIF-AM 1190 (now KFXR) in Dallas as one of the first reporters covering the assassination of President Kennedy as well as being on site when Lee Harvey Oswald was gunned down by Jack Ruby

  12. Not to be rude, but it would be nice if users could crop screenshots before posting here, if not just posting the direct link, if it's from a public account.

  14. It does seem somewhat sketchy. Daniella just arrived 1-2 weeks ago right? Surely they were either filming or planning to film promotions featuring their new anchoring team - the new Bill and Dominique. They can find solace in knowing that KTRK’s anchor line up is possibly the biggest disaster in the station’s history. If KPRC gets the hire right they may not miss a beat.

  15. I mean, Sam is the former Chief Met for the top-rated station in the country and he's working early AM. I'd be thankful for him if I were ABC. Who get's someone of this caliber to do mornings? Hell, who get's someone of Lee Goldberg's and Sam Champion's caliber on the same airwaves. Nuts.

  16. Sad news to report: Dave Hughes, the bearded and camo-clad founder/publisher of the popular Washington/Baltimore media news/gossip site DCRTV.com, has passed away at 63. He had an apparent heart attack Monday (Dec. 27th). DCRTV has been online for 24 years.
