  4. There are no Gray markets where CBS has a news-operating O&O. As a result, I'm guessing they paid Gray royalties for it. That trademarking is likely why quite a few Gray legacy stations adopted the brand AFTER they took over the Raycom stations. In the case of the Hearst stations mentioned that are changing it, that is likely to get away from the branding. Gray and Hearst have overlapping news-producing stations in 10 markets.

  5. I know I am super late, but I just saw this! I wonder if they are paying, although I have noticed, it always says "First Alert" and then Weather Center, or Forecast, etc. I wonder if they are using a loophole by not ever saying "First Alert Weather". Just very interesting, never knew it was trademarked!

  6. Likely to kill two birds with one stone. Two of the biggest urgency weather brands are "First Alert" and "Early Warning". Take up portions of both and nobody else can use that sort of brand.

  7. I have a question even though this has to do with some CBS O&O’s getting the branding but why did 2 Hearst stations (WESH and WPBF) switch from First Alert to First Warning?

  10. Could Nexstar move him back to WGN or put him on any of their stations? Perhaps they should start airing reruns of It's Garry Shandling's Show. I would watch that.

  11. For example, KDVR|KWGN too. They have several issues. Marketing is just one.

  12. It was edited, as a joke, which the original poster should've clarified, when bringing it from the Discord server to the TVNT forum.

  13. this NBC has Savannah Guthrie, Tom Llamas & Jose Diaz-Balart on standby, not to mention Craig Melvin for Today. ABC has Lindsey Davis, Whit Johnson and George Stephanopoulos on ice, even Terry Moran is a suitable host for WNT. Add TJ Holmes as a great "spare heir" for GMA.

  14. Tony is a short term solution to a long term problem. Getting rid of Scott was a huge mistake, having him lead the network through the events that unfolded in the first couple years following would've been helpful. Norah having these behind the scenes "meltdowns" and all the drama is a serious problem for the network and will eventually be a PR issue, we've watched her get angry while she's live on the air, imagine how she acts when the camera is off. Brian Williams would be great but I'm not gonna hold my breath. My suggestion, Ann Curry, she has the experience, look, presentation and leadership. Best of all she's no drama and very straight forward, she would bring in good interviews and stick around long enough for CBS to groom a long term replacement, just 5 years would be long enough for them. She's also been out of news long enough to be viewed as an outsider who isn't caught up in politics and she's no longer immediately associated with NBC & Today, not to mention all the people who would be rooting for her comeback. I use to watch Scott every night, the transition to Jeff was weird and people got too comfortable with Anthony Mason. I haven't consistently watched Norah at all and never will. Bringing Scott or Jeff back would be better than what they have now.

  15. Speaking of changing anchors every few years, another problem with moving Tony to Evening News is yet another casting change to the Gayle King Show... What are the chances they give a former anchor another shot? Pelley? Glor?
