  2. It’s a “stand alone mini studio at WABC”, according to Bill, who responded to someone on twitter asking about it.

  3. I believe there's a saying for this: "If it bleeds, it leads." The fact that it bled five hours ago is apparently immaterial.

  4. I'm not going to engage with such random speculation. Mark's return means nothing in relation to the rest of the staff, except that there's going to be some summer vacation time, coming up. Suggesting that other ABC stations' opening make Greg & Cheryl shoo-ins for those jobs is a big reach. You can just admit you don't seem to care for them. There's no shame in it.

  7. I saw this last night on a 10pm show, where a few other important stories which were developing were 'but first, breaking news!'ed for a minor car accident during a police chase...that happened at 5pm and was long cleaned up . If you as the viewer knows the other stories rundown deserved prominence, the news organization has failed to do its job. And highlight pieces from other reporters. I cannot stand only having a few on-camera reporters these days; it makes your organization look too insular and limiting.

  8. I like Jim Acosta but I think it's time for CNN to go back to the more straight news approach it had pre-Zucker. If Acosta does get fired, MSNBC might pick him up for a show.

  9. More neutral. While FNC and Fox Nation personalities do appear on the network from time to time, they’re more for lifestyle and outdoorsy material, and Fox Weather is more reliant on the newsroom side of FNC and the O&Os/affiliates.

  10. We all know Fox News is conservative channel. Is Fox Weather more conservative or neutral?

  11. That's true-- even when there is a rain shower that has no other implications (like thunder or lightning), some stations seem to act like it's the possible end of the world.

  12. Remember when Gray tried to recreate WABC’s old look? Looking at this and seeing the Beehive graphics, it’s clear that Gray really needs a new graphics department.

  13. Agreed! "Happening Now" works just fine if newscasts need some false urgency. While we're at it, can we stop overusing "breaking overnight", speaking in half sentences, overdramatizing "severe" weather that happens all the time and using the present tense for everything. Don't get me wrong, news always needs a little spice of drama but these days we've just gone over the moon.

  14. Yes! I've totally noticed the not speaking in complete sentences. I dont mind compacting and simplifying information but this feels dramatically dumbed down.

  16. ABC has been reading the news in the present tense for a while, although that really accelerated after David Muir took over WNT. I guess that style of delivery is supposed to make the news sound like it’s happening in real time, but it’s devolved into being unintentionally hilarious, given that they aren’t even speaking in complete sentences anymore. It’s certainly a departure from Peter Jennings’ style of delivery.

  17. This is not limited to GMA but has anyone noticed reporters increasingly speaking in the present tense? Example: Last night, Speaker Pelosi landing in Ukraine, speaking with President Zelensky about Putin's next move. I suppose this is to make things sound more dramatic or current? I've noticed this happening in about the last two or three years, especially on GMA.

  25. The Rob Marciano situation is still weird. He hasn't been on GMA (both weekend and filling in for Ginger on weekday) for months now. But he still doe WNT and ABC news live. Last week, Sam filled in for Ginger and did Weekend GMA from Florida, yet Rob Marciano was in Florida for WNT. So is he leaving ABC or stalled contract issues?
