  1. I agree entirely. It was nice to see professional and consistent delivery over the breaking coverage from Joe that Bill would not have been able to replicate. Liz and David at 4 Joe and Sandra at 5, 11pm Liz and Joe at 6

  2. Does anyone know who anchored at 4 yesterday? Sandra and Joe did the 5 and did EXCELLENT with the breaking news (as expected) Liz and Joe at 6 again excellent Not sure about the 11.. I might be a little bias here cause I’m not a huge fan of Bill Ritter but it was so nice seeing some different faces on there and not throwing in any sort of comments just straight and to the point.

  3. I'll repeat, since some of you are running with that screenshot... WBBM has not debuted the new look. That image is from a promotions department video from last fall. It is not necessarily a sign of their final branding.

  4. Sandra and Joe are an exceptional duo (potentially the station’s strongest?) Their roles as the weekend PM pairing for 20 years is intentional, it’s made them staples. For me, Bill’s delivery is a bit of a train wreck at times. He diverts from the script nearly every story and he’s not great at ad-libbing which makes it even more obvious when he’s doing it. Finally, his editorial contributions on every story is borderline unprofessional for a top market anchor.

  5. I think others have mentioned, but Joe and Sandra are (and have always been) a great team, almost too good to be regulated to weekends. I'm also not a huge fan of Bill Ritter's delivery, I much prefer a calmer Maurice DuBois type.

  6. CBS & their excessively long brandings. "WCCO News & CBS Minnesota". Interestingly enough, the multiple ABC 7 Eyewitness News stations have worked for ABC though.

  7. And that that WMAQ weekend early edition still had traces of the Serif Gothic font, especially in the editorial segment at the end.

  8. And WBBM's reveal ends up showing why they kept it simple with WWJ - they had no prior commitments to anything involving linear TV as they had no news to begin with. It really was just a chance to start fresh for that station. The other stations for better or worse do have at least something recognizable. I'll be honest, I was one of the anti-box people at the beginning, but after seeing all the variations I've kind of accepted them. They do seem very slapped together however, and need at least some retouching to make them fit the new image better (removing the double-eye in WCBS, maybe redesigning the star 11 for KTVT). All in all though CBS did great with the new look.

  9. There’s too many CBS 2’s. 4 to be exact in the O&O station group. Hence why they want to give each market a unique and local feel with the call letters since channels don’t mean anything these days with streaming. This leaves WCBS the only one that kept the CBS 2 in its branding. Chicago is going the call letter route like KDKA, and KCBS focusing on KCAL instead.

  10. Apologies if this was already mentioned but Brian Flores has landed at KCNC to take Dominic Garcia's spot on CBS Colorado Mornings. Brian comes from Fox 13 in Seattle and will be anchoring the morning show with Michelle Griego starting tomorrow.

  11. And who's paying for them to have 6 weeknight anchors? Certainly not Nexstar or any sane station owner in 2023.

  13. I have to wonder, could Bob Prather be heading back to Gray, especially with Bob Smith's impending retirement.....
