  1. They also grabbed philadelphia57.com. Smart move. Not that anyone's more likely to manually type (or peck on their phones) "philadelphia57.com" over "philly57.com", of course...

  2. Sunday Today (sans Willie) updated to the new Today Show look this morning. Its bug has a white horizontal NBC News logo, versus the colorized stack one used during the week. Wonder if Hoda and Jenna are next to update to the new look?

  3. Surprisingly, MTV was airing music videos and a marathon of Behind the Music in celebration of the 50th anniversary of hip-hop. They even had a TRL like audeince show at 5 PM ET. It was teriffic, felt like I was watching Fuse from a few years ago. It was the first time in years that I watched that channel for hours. Sadly, the schedule for tomorrow is a whole lot of Ridiculousness. Niche programming! Wish thise days could return. Maybe then there'd still be a reason to have cable.

  4. Looks like it’s all been confirmed that the CW is going to Ch 38 in Detroit. An official announcement should be made very soon. As for WKBD, I think they are indeed addling a 8 pm newscast as well. We should find out soon.

  5. That's great to see Craig Allen back at 2, obviously wish it was for better circumstances. And I must give props to John Elliott for transitioning to weekday mornings immediately. It will be nice for viewers to see someone they know and not a random CBS meteorologist sitting in Colorado or Texas, although what they did given the circumstance made sense.

  6. CBS 2 CBS News New York has added the ticker/flipper, but only on the online stream so far. The TV broadcast continues to show the tickerless ticker. I don't understand why it took them so many months to edit the one that they used with the previous look, because it's largely the same, just designed to align with the new bug. And I still think it's pretty useless. I wish they'd focus on making the ticker local. Also, tighten up the animations so there aren't so many times where nothing is displayed. The hyper local 7-day forecasts for various towns across the region lack details. I'd rather something more like now/tonight/tomorrow (or now/today/tonight, depending on the time of day) so that they could fit some text descriptions and not ignore low temperatures. Sports scores should be limited to local teams so that viewers don't have to watch every game's score slowly flash by. Lottery results are also weird to me, and take up too much time. But it seems the tickers are pretty automatic. Just pulling data from feeds and headlines off the website (headlines that are sometimes extremely vague).

  7. I don't think you can draw much from URL purchases. Remember years ago when NBC purchased nbcdenver.com and everyone thought that meant KUSA was going O&O? Those were the days.

  8. For that one TXA21 will more likely remain, if with a redesigned logo to meet this new city branding thing since they remained independent all through. Boston and Miami are the ones to look out for now (if they even remember they own WBFS).

  9. And.....seattle11.com, boston38.com, florida33.com and sacramento31.com. I strongly doubt every station will go with these brandings. "KCAL" (& even "KCAL 9" ftm) is a stronger brand than a generic "Los Angeles 9" or "LA 9". Sad that "california9.com" was already taken.....

  11. The font is Barlow. It’s free to use. Makes sense why multiple station groups use it, one less thing to pay to license for 100+ stations…

  12. Seeing as how WLUC is the absolutely dominant station in the area by a longshot, there's little incentive to change.

  13. I concur on the font - it just looks too “chunky” (the only word I could come up with). The “SIOUXLAND’S NEWSCHANNEL” font is fine, but there are much better general L3/GFX fonts available. Even going back to the basics (Helvetica/Univers/DIN 1451/Frutiger/Myriad/News Gothic) would look better, IMHO. Just for god’s sake, please do not use Arial!

  14. The GrayOne package looks nice and all, but I still hate the main font. I thought I read somewhere it was chosen because it was "easy on the eyes?" And the fact that Nexstar has a package that uses it in many markets....

  15. The abc7NY Dominican Day Parade broadcast is the same as last year. No hosts, one camera to the left of the stage, which means there is no full view of the performances, and you frequently have people standing and walking in front of the camera.
