  1. Will Lonnie Quinn handle the CBS Deals portion of the Evening News or will Gayle handle that?

  2. I see your point on Dickerson. I don't think sexism has any basis here. Very few news anchor teams are dual male anymore in this country. On two stints CBS had failed solo female anchors (Couric, O'Donnell), so we can't say they didnt try. Not to mention Gayle King, Jane Pauley and Margaret Brennan in leading anchor roles. At this point it's cool to see two males behind the anchor desk because it's so foreign. I think this instance is less about representation and more about who can carry the broadcast.

  3. The Evening News is getting an overhaul - with a move back to the Broadcast Center, an anchor duo of John Dickerson and WCBS' Maurice DuBuois (alongside Face the Nation's Margaret Brennan and WCBS' Lonnie Quinn), a new production leadership and an infusion of the production style and content of 60 Minutes. https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-news/new-cbs-evening-news-anchors-john-dickerson-maurice-dubois-1235963606/ https://deadline.com/2024/08/cbs-evening-news-anchors-john-dickerson-maurice-dubois-1236028559/

  4. On that same note, Gayle King has done a good job of establishing herself as the "Barbara Walters" of CBS. Saying Nora's leaving to focus on big interviews smells like when Ann Curry was leaving Today to be a part of a "globe trekking news team".

  5. Well its funny to say all 4 are keeping the jobs they have also, so that question can also go for Dickerson too. He keeping his streaming newscast also. My bet he retains the 11pm show and eventually maybe he'll stop doing WCBS all together becasue eventually they'll pay him more money. Al Roker did the same when he got Today he was still doing live at 5 and eventually in 2000 he stopped and went to network full time.

  6. Wondering that too: will Maurice leave WCBS? Breaking news and traveling for national stories might limit his WCBS position unless they have Dickerson handling that. Then again...in the 60s, as mentioned before, CBS anchors also carried national duties. On NBC in the 90s, Matt Lauer and Al Roker held positions on Today and WNBC's Live at 5 simultaneously. Double duty is possible, the exception is Lauer & Roker weren't NBC's main anchors. True. In all fairness WNT, NNN, and CBSEN are nearly identical so taking a page from PBS shouldn't be too awful.

  7. CBS also had Connie Chung as the first Asian-American to co-anchor the Evening News and she didn't stick around too long either. Let's see what this looks like when it airs.

  9. Yes! I think this is the majority view. Those who mentioned above how great he was are in the minority.

  10. Nobody actually believes it was her own decision, right? It's a gigantic demotion.

  11. Personally I’m not a fan of Tony Dokouoil and didn’t think he fit well when he has filled in for Norah. John Dickerson should focus on his streaming show which airs at the same time and Vald should focus on streaming & his morning segments and continue to be groomed for the next open seat on Mornings. Just my opinion. Jeff Glor has done it before and is really liked on Saturdays so he’d be a recognizable face who has led big coverage. Lisa Ling would be great for special coverage too due to her experience and name recognition.

  15. Really good looking set! Nearly thought it was Tegna based on the quality. But in all fairness Nexstar does have some good looking stations.

  16. I say cut all ties, why because if EN format doesn't work he can take over as solo anchor if the program and managing editor when they decide this format wasn't good and they decide to go normal again this an if. Peter Jennings did the same thing. He needs to think about the money, going back to CBS2 is less money more like thousands he's in the big leagues his salary is probably millions now. This is telling him leave WCBS you're in the big leagues enjoy it

  17. Good evening I'm John Dickerson, let's get things right over to First National Alert Chief Meteorologist Lonnie Quinn who is in our Virtual Weather Dome 3000 brought to you by Pfizer who is tracking First Alert's in Los Angeles, Sacramento, Fresno.......New York, and Albany, New York. What's the weather like Lonnie?

  18. This is doing news on the cheap, circa 2024. Asking existing talent to double up, triple up on their duties. Will their contracts be adjusted accordingly for the added workloads? Notice there are no outside hires, no poaching another anchor for millions. This may all be a placeholder anyway. The network’s news division in its current form is probably in doubt post Paramount sale to Skydance.
