Fox Weather is toast. The most dangerous tornado outbreak of the fall/winter season is underway, and Fox Weather dropped coverage at 8pm or 9pm ET (not sure which), because welp, it's a weekend during the holiday season, and ya know, 9pm is pretty late, so we'll be back live at 6am to assess the aftermath. Even TWC, which originally planned on also dropping coverage at 8pm ET, added an additional live shift from 8pm to ??? (still live as of now at 9:37pm ET) when they saw how serious the tornado outbreak was going to be. I don't think the higher-ups really care about Fox Weather anymore. It seems like they're just treating it as another shovelware FAST network that plays whatever they feel like showing in between constant ad breaks. I think 2025 will be the year that Fox Weather drastically cuts back even its weekday programming schedule, with additional staff cuts.

Oh wow. I'm saddened and stunned to learn of his passing. I agree with David when he said that you won't find a much finer gentleman in all of television than him. You gotta feel for Bryant too, man. He just lost a legendary brother. A truly sad day in the world of sports and in broadcasting in general.

The only subs that really needs to be documented here is if we get a reporter who never anchors getting to sub or a significantly unusual pairing

Putting it bluntly, the New York contingent on this forum has the tendency to be a mind-numbingly aloof echo chamber.

I was going to add that channel 7 might do as they've done for years and have their prominent Jewish staffers (aka the "Eyewitness Jews"–Bill Ritter, Lauren Glassberg, Lee Goldberg among them) front the Xmas day shows. But with Hanukkah starting on Wednesday as well, probably not.

I think we are conflating the two. It's not that an anchor can't bother to anchor an additional hour, it's how the talent's contract is wrtitten. If Liz has a contract that says she anchors X show and fills in X amount of times, the station has to adhere to that legal agreement. All parties signed off on that. Additionally, each year we revisit the topic of anchors being off on the holidays. Just let the tenured anchor live and enjoy time with their loved ones. On the flip side, let's be OK with the green talent getting a few at bats so they can hone their craft. The topic doesn't need to be revisited annually.

It also doesn't warrant every anchor sub being reported. It won't get back to normal until after the new year. Enjoy the season. Even anchors & reporters deserve time off with heir families.

This week every news organization is going to have an abnormal schedule. It's the holidays. It's expected. We go through this every year and seem to begrudge people for taking time off during the holidays and...no. Just enjoy different people getting on the air. Some of them REALLY need it after the abuse some of them have had to deal with this year from the public, politicians and c-suiters pushing them to their last nerve. Live with your ABC station not having news on Wednesday because of the NBA being on all day and get over that your local station doesn't have your precious morning news and advertorial show on that morning and instead runs a mass, some bargain-bin Christmas film from Trifecta, or a taped parade. I feel like I have to say this every year and it's tiring. People deserve time off.

It's a grandfathered in list thread, and serves as a convenient aggregate page since the algorithms of YouTube and other sites have made it harder to find this kind of stuff.

I admittedly don't know what BPME is/was, but it's not on the forum members here to explain that. If it's important, maybe it's in the video's description.

Greg Gumbel, longtime sportscaster at ESPN, CBS, & NBC, has passed away at the age of 78.

Question.. how is this thread not considered a list and is allowed? All of these can be searched and found on YouTube if you're looking for newscasts back in the day. Why keep posting them here?
