This is from a company that kept the 1990 GFX package on Up to the Minute until the Couric era, so I'm much less surprised their graphic continuity doesn't extend to the weekend show.3 points

MSNBC is crazy if they don't do everything they can to get him on their network. I don't see how anyone can trust or defend CNN after this decision. One of the highest rated anchors, who has higher ratings than some of the primetime shows, gets his show cancelled just because he was critical of Trump. It sends a message that nobody at CNN is safe saying anything critical about the Trump admin. It's funny how this thread was started by someone on the far right criticizing CNN for doing actual journalism because it was critical of Trump and now years later the same network is removing journalists who have been critical of Trump and normalizing the Republican party's unprecedented shift to authoritarianism3 points

I understand on the surface level why Nexstar implemented the delay: forcing viewers to watch newscasts live. But that only works if the competition does the same. If I can't stream my local Nexstar station online, what stops me from turning into my local Hearst or Sinclair station which does? There's also less incentive to watch a newscast live If stories are clipped and uploaded to various platforms shortly after being aired. (Granted a station still benefits from impressions to their website for ad revenue) but still less incentive for live viewership.2 points

Most likely at the local level, the labor cost of the work it takes to clip and upload broadcasts to YouTube is greater than getting video up to existing on-demand platforms and YouTube has lower potential revenue for the station. There almost certainly ways for a sales team to generate ad and monetization opportunities for broadcasts on NewsOn/Zeam/station OTT channels, while YouTube wouldn’t generate much, if any, revenue for past newscasts on demand. Additionally, station group operated streaming platforms are likely easier to integrate into engineering and IT workflows so the clipping/upload of broadcasts there is semi, if not fully, automated and almost instant. Network likely has the bodies available to manually clip segments and remove any possible restricted video from a newscast before uploading the 30 minute broadcast, and they would upload far less broadcasts per day compared with local stations almost constant around the clock newscasts2 points

That's a very subjective statement. Just because you may not come home to watch the evening news, don't assume "nobody" else does either. That invalidates the rest of your comment.2 points

Two and a half years plus one marriage later (long distance btw) was more than enough for Deborah Choe at WOFL. She's out as she wants to be with her husband. https://www.facebook.com/deborahchoefox35/posts/pfbid0Jyv7bPkp9gdfBoQ5HVQ565DDDXMdvesSa9cWDywcLXodrBieXwsZVMn6a3UdW7yLl1 point

Australia One of the few good things Network Ten has in their arsenal... the legendary and fantastic Sandra Sully. She's now passed 35 years at 10 News First. https://www.linkedin.com/posts/network-ten_today-we-celebrate-35-incredible-years-of-activity-7290265085430706178-KmAs?utm_source=share&utm_medium=member_android1 point

One of the anchors (forget who) put on social media a few weeks ago that they are moving this month so I guess we will see pretty soon. Let’s hope they do it right1 point

KSAT posts full newscasts on their YouTube page after they air. WDIV posts the A block of their newscasts on their YouTube page. I’m not aware of other stations that do this1 point

Nobody comes home to watch the news anymore. Not even the local news at 5pm, 6pm and 11pm (10pm on central/mountain). Certainly not the network evening newscasts. More people are streaming nowadays, not to mention getting their news on the internet. CBS News's YouTube channel offers full-length episodes of the CBS Evening News. After they broadcast on their local affiliates, CBS News uploads that night's newscast like 4 hours later, so people who prefer online can watch on YouTube at their own convenience. ABC News YouTube channel, same deal with World News Tonight uploaded like 4 hours after they broadcast on ABC affiliates. NBC News YouTube Channel uploading the NBC Nightly News the same night. Talk about ease of access! Why aren't local stations following suit with the networks? That is, uploading the local newscast on their stations YouTube channel the same night after they aired it live?1 point

In typical CBS News fashion, they make one big step forward and then two steps backwards. Why the inconsistency between the weekday and weekend?1 point

TBN still runs non-commercial stations, and very, very few (we're talking about mainly small town stations where it's justified appropriately to support their ministries) religious stations and networks run any kind of advertising, even K-LOVE (who always converts their stations for the most part to non-coms upon acquisition); TBN is a craven outlier who has made it clear their priorities are not those of the founding Crouches (spreading the gospel in whatever ways they could), but just about becoming a race to the bottom regarding whose ministry gets the most money. And their ties to Merit Street, which is antithetical to every single part of the most basic of religions, show who they really are.1 point

I have been predicting this since WSWG got sold to Marquee. And this won't be the last one either.1 point

I know nobody has noticed this but more and more Nexstar stations are streaming live online and dropping the company's horrendous two-hour delay policy... KELO, WCMH, WKRN, WFLA, WXIN, and WDAF are a few examples.1 point

CNN recently debuted it's AR extensions of Studio H at Techwood, which has allowed them to use more wide shots of the studio as a whole.1 point

The old WTBS now Peachtree TV, which if I'm not mistaken north of the border in Canada, is still being shown like it was back in the old SuperStation days getting similar treatment to WPIX, WGN, & KTLA.1 point

Using a one-size-fits-all metric doesn't work here. In Top 50 markets, the proposal is certainly worthwhile. However, once you get below 100 and especially below 150, you have a hard time maintaining more than 2 independent operations and that would lead to missing affiliations. In the smallest markets, a monopoly seems to be acceptable and hasn't hurt either its product or the consumer. Look at KGNS in Laredo for example - it has no competition, yet they have greatly upgraded their product under Gray.1 point
-
The problem is that the market cannot support three, let alone four, independent outlets. The only alternative would be piping in adjacent markets (Memphis in the north, Jackson or Meridian in the south).1 point

Yikes!!! Zero reason this was so poorly executed. Really killed the momentum they were building with the new Evening News. Would have been better off leaving the Weekend News as is if this was going to be the end result. And why did they not move back to studio 47?0 points

The fake windows ruin the effect. Otherwise not bad, but I feel the textures could be improved to make it even more realistic.0 points

We already have one major departure in Hampton Roads: Stephanie Hudson (nee Harris). Yesterday was her last day at WAVY-TV 10 after nearly 25 years. https://www.wavy.com/video/stephanie-hudson-signs-off-after-25-years-at-wavy-tv-10/10418970/0 points
