  1. They could also relaunch WJKW...WJW's infamous place-holder calls from 1976-1985 because of Storer's sale of WJW radio. When WJW-AM changed to WRMR, Storer restored the calls to TV8 and they've been there ever since. But what's probably keeping that from not happening is an FM station in Athens, Ohio with the WJKW calls that brands themselves as "Ohio's Christian Superstation". Even though it would be perfectly legal for Nexstar to do so for WBNX. Another thought....WJCW? (exists as an AM station in Johnson City, TN owned by iHeart Media)

  2. Gotta love a show called "Live" being taped two weeks in advance.

  3. Agreed. Incase VR ever becomes the full time set...I'm split on it. On the one hand, it's unique and innovative, and a break up from the traditional anchor desk, video wall studios that we see. I like seeing them on CBS News 24/7, but for some reason they look odd on the local level to me.

  4. Most reprots indicate it will be used for sports and weather, including a special NCCA tournament show. Here is Parmount's actual press release: https://www.paramountpressexpress.com/cbs-news-and-stations/shows/stations/releases/?view=111139-cbs-miami-debuts-groundbreaking-augmentedvirtual-reality-technology-driven-studio-on-march-16

  5. All-new parade graphics debuted today, adopting lower thirds that are reminiscent of the collage-like panels in the news opens. The old St. Patrick's look was nice, but the stock banners used across all parades have long needed an overhaul. (Baichwal, Butler, Rivera, Garcia, and newbie Lisette Nunez in the station contingent.)

  6. If the majority of MSNBC's audience actually wants Lockup to return, the channel is in more trouble than we thought.

  7. Just because FNC has been able to bodge together their own weekend lineup that somehow works for a 'rusted remote' audience doesn't mean that MSNBC or any other network can do it when its competition is sports or event programming. We're talking about an audience that probably still wants Lockup to somehow return, and do we really need yet another Sunday politics show? Also with the late night hosts having long gone to Monday-Thursday, I expect the rest of the industry (including daytime) to follow the same model. We don't need a Maddow Friday show outside when it's required.

  8. Well, as of February 1st, WBNX is now a Nexstar station. Master control has since been moved and is likely being run out a Nexstar hub somewhere. Since it hasn't been added to YouTubeTV (yet), I'm told that they have started airing WJW promos on WBNX, and that Rewind TV will be added later this month to one of WBNX's subchannels. CW programming returns on September 1st, and we can probably expect a new logo from Nexstar. It may be a cut and paste of the old "CW 55" logo Media General introduced for WFNA in Mobile/Pensacola before reverting to "Gulf Coast CW" But this thread shall come to a close with the end of Winston Broadcasting. Even the WBNX signage has been removed from their Cuyahoga Falls studios and it may be safe to assume control and any continuing staff may (or has already shifted) to Dick Goddard Way in Cleveland. And as Ernest used to say at the end of his "Ninety and Nine Club".... YOU ARE SPECIAL.....YOU REALLY, REALLY ARE!

  9. I'm really going to miss that opening zoom-out that just shows how absurdly tiny that studio is for a network-quality live show, even after the studio-sharing with EWN ended. It's always night and day to see their yearly Dolby show or other on-location weeks such as the recent Palm Springs week where they can spread out. I'm hoping at least that the GMA set is less clashy with all that metal and those goofy frosted panels and so much blue. I'm hopeful everything with the lighting and display on the new set is temporary and a new network-wide scheme is introduced with GMA's move, which I can still see happen. The big problem with ABC News is that set is heavily-used so they may have to keep it darker to hide marks and not expose too much to an average viewer about its overuse.

  10. I guess Im in the minority. I hate everything about ABC News. Its like they are broadcasting from a darkened cave. I hate the lighting, when there is some its harsh and the talent is shadowy and the graphics are dark so it feels sinister. The sound is always echo-ey and the use of the metal on the set, such as around the screens and desk, always has hotspots. Everything is badly designed. I feel since they were moving to a new space they could have experimented. They didnt even get new graphics but recreated their old ones. But since audiences for network news is drying up...this exemplifies they are truly scare of losing more of their audience. I was hoping we would see something different. But to to rebuild the same thing. Yawn. I was suprised ABC News Live got new graphics. I like the channel, but sometimes I find the streaming channels dont always carry live events. NBC News Now is a big culprit. ABC is OK. CBS News is a bit hit or miss. I have to say Im not impressed with any of the big 3 network news sets. NBC gave up and retreated to the Today set and CBS is just screens and ABC went deeper into their news cave.

  11. I'm not a fan of this update... It feels like a cheapened update... Some of the graphics/motions look like they were taken from a third-party website...

  12. Someone should give them some advice… The graphics for the headlines and the show title above it look like something a high school student who grew up in Fargo, North Dakota watching news on the cheap would make. WDIV doesn’t have these yet to my knowledge (haven’t looked lately) but it would fit right in with the rest of their ailing product. The buyouts last year were most unkind to them quality wise.
