WUAB has had either horrendous or generic branding ever since “Hometeam 43” in 1999. Between “Hometeam”, “(my)43 the Block,” “CLE43”, and “UPN/my/CW 43”, I don’t think Raycom has put any effort into branding WUAB, or even WOIO for that matter. Honestly, it’s nice to see Gray trying.2 points

After doing that, I've realized that there wasn't anything more to see... LMAO I also hope they keep the 360 degree desk. Maybe they get it updated to something similar to the KMSP set. Their set looks like the next evolution to the current KSWB set.2 points

As long as 47 is in charge, I don't believe a word he says until it's either struck down or confirmed by a judge. That's why we have the separation of powers.2 points

At bare minimum, it looks like it belongs to a small-market Texas station, not Southern CA2 points

A forum topic discussing the longest running news magazine on network television. The New York Times reporting major news that will affect the future of 60 Minutes. Executive Producer Bill Owens will exit the program. He cites the fact that he doesn't feel like he has editorial control and freedom to be separated from the overall control of CBS News and its parent company, Paramount. This comes as they've been facing turmoil from the current administration. "Over the past months, it has become clear that I would not be allowed to run the show as I have always run it, to make independent decisions based on what was right for ‘60 Minutes,’ right for the audience. So, having defended this show — and what we stand for — from every angle, over time with everything I could, I am stepping aside so the show can move forward."1 point

Why I don't work in TV anymore.... 12 years at the same station and don't even crack Gray's minimum wage...1 point

Wow! Channel 7 has come a long way! The new Disney building has been an improvement for all shows that moved. Loving the neon lights and brick wall, it reminds me of Tegna's set design trends.1 point

If you're wondering the "why" for this project... Mainly why it took this long... The exact thing I expected they were waiting for happened. Early last year, plans were released for a major redevelopment of the area surrounding the current building. Of course, they were released before the move was announced, and the current building is notched out of the development, but that means their property suddenly became a lot more valuable. WFAA will likely be next, the city of Dallas just bought the old Dallas Morning News building (after the proposed redevelopment fell apart) to secure more land for a $3.7 billion redevelopment of the convention center, which is heavily focused on redeveloping the exact area that WFAA occupies.1 point

Keep your eyes peeled on WHEC-TV Rochester. There could be a new look coming to them shortly. No, its not on the air yet, but they have already debuted a new logo that appears online. Its their first new logo in 20 years.1 point

Are we supposed to take anything the Post says seriously? Even for them, this particular piece of unsourced tripe is so over-the-top that it doesn't even make for good satire.1 point

Really like that their switching as apart of their 40th anniversary! (Hoping their old logo will make an appearance.) Looks like we will have to wait till about October for the switch though.1 point

I can confirm WYMT will be switching to GrayONE this year as part of their 40th anniversary celebration. They are slowly working it into promos and weather has fully gone GrayONE (Watch an entire Weather cast.) The CBS Eye removal is part of the Gray Mandate.1 point

One of the dumbest things I’ve ever read. Has there been anymore to the reports that Strahan is set to exit the show this summer?1 point
-
Usually there would be information about the station newscast on Wikipedia? It appears there's no updated information on kcop wiki page about them showing news even though it's produced by kttv. Has there been information regarding the ratings of their newscasts?1 point
-
It’s textbook. We’ve seen this play out over and over in countries throughout history and around the globe. It never, ever ends well.1 point

Very concerning. CBS News feels the need to bow down to a president with authoritarian tendencies to have their Paramount/Skydance merger go through.1 point

Let me know when you find this mythical buyer for the radio stations. Radio is even more of a declining asset than television and the only people buying up stations are Godcasters like K-Love or Relevant Radio. Let's be real: Nexstar, Gray, Tegna, Sinclair and Sinclair know they can't find a third party for the radio stations and they aren't going to bother with Cox. NewsNation is cheap and they hire cheap talent. They make good money on retransmission revenue from cable companies and don't have to pay for acquired programming like movies. That's the only reason why it's around. I hope you are aware that younger demos and more and more of the 25–54 "money demo" are abandoning linear television for streaming. The audience for local television is getting smaller and grayer and the industry is on an unsustainable course with pushing endless local news to markets that can't support it. Nexstar, Gray, Tegna, Sinclair and Scripps are all destined to be too big to fail. As for Apollo, they are only guilty of being 10 years too late buying Cox and four years too late trying to sell it.1 point
-
Yeah, true that. It doesn't stream, though, and it hasn't in a really long time. Same with WFAA Two.1 point
-
That would be obfuscation and obviously actionable if a company claimed in good faith to buy all the assets and then sell the ones they don't want off immediately against the seller's will. Yes, Apollo is not going to get anyone to take but a small fraction of them, but if somehow they do get a deal, there will be a clause where they can't be sold off for a certain period of time or if they go bankrupt.1 point

Same company did the NBC 5/Telemundo 39 project a few years back too.1 point

I think that's what we've seen with the last big station moves with KMGH and KMOV; everything is going IP-based and you really don't need a studio to look like a stereotypical studio with all that exposed infrastructure any longer, and it certainly saves on any legwork to monitor outside. Even with the KETV move in Omaha a few years back the dishes and STL are well hidden. And FoxLocal has been building around podcasts they can air streaming there and on Tubi in syndication/network time so I like that they're planning around that rather than just having it as an afterthought.1 point

Apparently both MSNBC and NBC doesn't want to lose Willie Geist so he is working towards a rare deal with both. Longtime anchor Willie Geist in talks to remain at both MSNBC and NBC after Comcast’s cable spinoff: source0 points

NBC: Surprisingly no Savannah. Notably they have Craig Melvin leading coverage from studio 1A not the Vatican. No Lester is understandable as it eases Tom Llamas into the main anchor role.... which makes me wonder why Llamas isn't leading coverage since he's at the Vatican. Interesting that NBC was the only network to stop live coverage as the Pope's body was brought into the basilica for burial. They went with Saturday Today from New York, with a funeral summary off the top. ABC and CBS broke about 20 minutes after. CBS: It's nice to see Nora co-anchoring with her successor John Dickerson. Networks often act weird when they (apparently) usher someone out of a prominent role, but they allowed Nora to anchor several major events before she left, and she's still a presence on the network. Noticing whenever one of the Evening News duo is chosen for major coverage, it's often Dickerson over Maurice.0 points

Two notes on Don Lemon from the Daily Beast. - He was called out by Chris Cuomo, as he claims that the CNN relationship they had together was never real. He also said he wouldn't want to do a podcast again with Lemon. - As for Lemon himself, he spoke to the Beast earlier this month about his past work at CNN and expanding his Social Media news brand.0 points

I agree the program names are generic, but they could be trying to create a brand (i.e. Today Show / Tonight Show, etc...) with the Weeknight and the Weekend AM/PM. My immediate concern is having a network president who may favor programs, people, etc... she had a hand in creating/developing instead of doing what's best for the overall network.0 points

I’ve heard on the story that the new building will have multiple studios to work out of. A set in the newsroom plus a new bigger space for the new studio and set with multiple different spots in the studio to read news stories at.0 points
