Meanwhile, there are people out there on social media who mean well but may be slightly confused.... So, we should punish Disney/ABC for Sinclair and Nexstar not honoring their affiliation agreements? (Also, Too-Far Carr is, last I checked, not a Disney employee.) Who wants to tell her?2 points

That's the other thing. Most of the Sinclair stations are last place garbage stations, and they are choosing not to air a show that is getting huge ratings. Shareholders should care that the company owns stations like KOMO in left wing markets like Seattle that are facing local advertiser and viewer boycotts due to Sinclair refusing to allow its stations to air a show that is bringing in massive ratings. They are giving up increased ratings for not just the 11:35pm time slot but also the stations local late night and morning newscasts, and on top of that, viewers are boycotting the stations local newscasts and protesting outside the station. What I think Disney should do is start pulling ABC affiliates in markets where losing ABC would hurt Sinclair the most with little impact to ABC. For example, in Seattle they could pull ABC from KOMO and put ABC on Tegna's KONG. KOMO is one of Sinclair's strongest ABC stations, losing ABC would be a devastating blow to a station that is already facing major challenges as a Sinclair station in a left wing market. Yes I know Nexstar is trying to buy Tegna, but my point is there are markets where leaving Sinclair immediately is a viable option for ABC.1 point

Not a fan of how they love using the virtual studio to make the anchors look so small. Can't they reframe everything? It's also boring having just a single set design in there. It's virtual! They can use multiple sets at the flip of a switch!1 point

The drama's not over for Disney -- now the company's facing a shareholder lawsuit. One more thing.... It's time to bring back Schoolhouse Rock. Even if the episodes have to be remade for HD, it's time.1 point

I think dayside has always been produced from Atlanta, even when the anchors moved to New York 10 or so years ago. Every now and then the dayside anchors pop up in Atlanta, happy to see them use the studio instead of a flash set. Agreed that the lighting in Studio H looks much nicer than when the show is in DC. The yellow flares in the background are a nice touch to blend into the set. On a separate note, for the past couple of weeks Zain Asher has only anchored the first hour of One World, either with Bianna solo-anchoring the second hour or with a separate anchor (Eleni or Christina).1 point

Media literacy has always been an inside baseball thing, and the public needs a crash course ASAP!.... First lesson, all things marked FOX arent conservative. More relevant to this topic, your local station is most likely a franchise and not network owned!1 point

Yes correct. WTTG and WUSA now use WRC’s helicopter. WJLA no longer has access to a helicopter1 point

I don't see anything wrong with it. This is for the 7am streaming show, not the TV broadcast that airs in many markets at 4am. I think it looks nice and bright.1 point

Even without Nexstar and Sinclair airing it, last night’s Jimmy Kimmel Live was watched by over 6 million viewers1 point

Any other O&Os doing this yet? Just saw WCBS with a new "Super 7 Day Forecast." My favorite part is that the low temperature is now aligned to show that it occurs in the morning. (When it was below the high temp, I think it was natural to assume it happens chronologically at night.) Rain chance looks to be a permanent feature now. Other stations have been doing this forever. There's also a night percent which is kind of hard to read. They also have the average high and low. I'm not sure when it happened but they updated the icons at some point. When this look debuted, the weather conditions were too vague and seemed like background images, I like having information but this seems rather cluttered now with a wide variety of font sizes, including some tiny text. Previous look from the noon broadcast for comparison: Edit: Strangely, they seemed to use the 7-day from the noon broadcast at 5:51 p.m. The old format, older numbers...1 point

Christ. Why does everyone just so happen to have a merger deal going on now??? Is the timing coincidence, or were some companies waiting for a conservative administration hoping they'd get laxed monopoly policies?1 point

Be on the look out, several Hearst stations will launch new graphics this week.1 point

There was another report issued last night that dealt with the censorship issue and in light of some more recent supreme court rulings. The fact Carr was openly advocating for the action - on several interviews, resulting in soft coercion either direct/indirect pressuring Nexstar and perhaps Sinclair to take their action, or for ABC to self censor beyond normal standards and practices, would still be considered a violation of first amendment rights. What has been overlooked when Kimmel realized that what he said (which seems more about not fitting a particular desired narrative) did issue an apology on X. What adds insult to this is Sinclair's demand Kimmel donate to TPUSA, an organization that based on public records had $85M in revenue. Carr's statement "there is an easy way or a hard way to do this" can be interpreted as a direct threat to ABC. In the meantime you have the regime leader continuing to threaten any critical coverage with censorship and license revocation (not withstanding that he does not understand what elements of broadcasting are actually licensed, the process needed and history of how rare license revocation is). A sound bite on the news this morning is his complaining that news media (except Fox propaganda) turn even good news about him into bad. His very fragile ego is not of anyone's concern. If that was the case he should never be in public office. Every president has been criticized and mocked for many decades. The press must look at all aspects and short term and long term impacts in reporting the news. The issue however, is no longer just Kimmel. It is direct and implied threats to censorship and losing first amendment protections for news organizations, media, and even individuals for something the regime leader does not like. That is scary and why you find MAGA republican like Ted Cruz even concerned, not to say others in the MAGA media universe. An interesting tidbit on the news this morning, which again does not fit in the desired narrative and will cause anger. So far, all the forensic analysis of the alleged shooter's computers, other electronic devices, papers etc find no link to far left groups.1 point

It's just interesting how Nexstar is so bold in their press release craving media attention about bringing down Jimmy Kimmel, but when it comes to a major left wing market the Nexstar station is claiming it's all on ABC. The people protesting outside Disney should also protest outside KTLA. Nexstar deserves just as much negative backlash as ABC and Disney do for this decision, and it's about time Nexstar stations start to suffer in left wing markets. LA's Very Own is owned by the MAGA far right1 point

It was kind of telling how KTLA opened its 10:00pm newscast tonight with the story that ABC had pulled Jimmy Kimmel Live while barely acknowledging their beloved owner Nexstar's major role. As Cher explained a misleading timeline of events she made no mention that Nexstar put out a press release attacking Jimmy Kimmel and saying they would refuse to air the show, saying only that "ABC made the decision after the FCC chairmen suggested they may take action against the network". While later on the report did mention that "Nexstar, KTLA's parent company, also announced that it would be pulling Kimmel from its ABC affiliates" this was the only mention of Nexstar's involvement. Why was KTLA so afraid to highlight the actions of their parent company? I mean this is the same network that relentlessly demonized the anti ICE protesters non stop back in June. Are they just now starting to realize that being part of Nexstar's MAGA empire is not going to pay off in Southern California?1 point

If only there were a multitude of media sources on which conservative (or what masquerades as conservative here in 2025) figures and viewpoints were available unchallenged, and without any tether to reality, around the clock.0 points
