  1. I think live shows after midnight are pretty useless unless it's a home market team. Having been in a newsroom in an OT situation, everyone from producers to anchors complains about it. The over time pay is taxed. Do viewers really even care if the show is live or pre-taped? There's no production difference except for the live bug on the screen. IMO the insistency on going live after late running sports games are a relic of the old TV age.

  2. Have to say, having NBC back in the fold has made the NBA more engaging to watch; they’re clearly using the SNF/NFL playbook for their coverage. Their coverage tonight has outclassed anything ESPN/ABC did in the last two decades. The league needed this in the worst way. It’s a shame Disney paid enough to keep the Finals exclusively on ABC. I was hoping to see them and NBC alternate them yearly. But at least we’ll finally have Inside the NBA at the Finals, something NBA fans have been wanting for years now.

  4. As for Inside the NBA, as promised, nothing has changed about the show except for ESPN logos replacing the TNT logos.

  5. In DC they did indeed run the 11pm newscast live on their streaming channel and reran it after the late game. I wouldn't be surprised if the the other Eastern/Central time zone O&O's went that route too.

  6. I don't think it's squandering by not doing a live show at midnight unless you are a market for one of the teams (Which in Cali, where both late teams are, it was regular late news time). Those who just casually wanted the headlines and weather found another station to watch, or looked online, and went to bed. Would be interesting to see who did pre-tape. In many cases, it makes sense to tape- I think of some of the Gray Duos in my area (KSFY/KDLT, KVLY, KBJR) who normally simulcast, they likely ran the late news live on one channel and aired the tape on NBC after. How many also ran the news on their website/streamer live and taped for broadcast after the game?

  7. The league feels like an event again, they really got this right so much. ESPN has always felt RSN-equivalent in production and 720p does not do the product justice; finally having a basketball broadcaster in 1080i/p, it's always felt so different than the former. And they managed to get an overtime, so it'll be a dream launch night for them.

  8. Looks like we have a title for Elex's show, "The Story Is: With Elex Michaelson", which takes a page from his former Fox LA show "The Issue Is". Clip from CNN's EPG for Monday 10/27. Times are Pacific.

  9. Im sure its mentioned somewhere here. Alex Thomas formerly of CNN International sport , is now at Sky News Australia presenting the news. Sky News Australia is similar to Fox News in the US. Seems like there is a concerted effort to slowly shut down CNN International. There is basically no one there.

  10. So in Europe, this will air on Saturday mornings and will not air on Monday mornings which is just bizarre for an early morning slot. But International audiences don't matter to CNNI for some time now.

  11. From Columbus: WBNS-TV's Chuck White has passed at age 90. One of the first Black reporters on central Ohio television, White also performed on the station's children's program Luci's Toyshop, and later served as public affairs director. https://youtube.com/watch?v=cb-_kPmkpq8&si=30MVqiGC2quGhCvS

  12. Here's the tribute and while short, was well done. That booming deep voice meant a signal of trust and authority. He defintely had it. RIP.
