  1. Not to be a smartass, but considering the same first name and nothing on Rick Gevers' ND newsletter about KMGH over the last few months, solid chance same person, different last name due to a change in marriage status.

  2. It's too bad that "issues of character" aren't enforced by the FCC. That should rule out people like Dujuan McCoy from owning TV stations. (screengrab from FTVLive) https://www.ftvlive.com/sqsp-test/2025/11/2/how-about-this-guy-as-your-owner

  3. The updated set debuted at 11am today. They added a big video wall next to the weather center for weather, and it looks like they added a similar video wall to the demo/interview set. Otherwise, everything looked the same from what I saw. A picture from Drew Tuma’s Instagram:

  4. "AK" instead of "Alaska" makes it easier to read in smaller formats. 1) Mobile App tile 2) Social Media Icon 3) the tiny icon that superimposes the network logo on the guide for things like YTTV and Hulu Live. I think stations are learning the hard way about having too much in the logo. An example (The first one that I found quickly from Google, not to single them out) is KAIT... Their icon vs. A&E right about it is evidence enough to go for a logo that would fit perfectly inside of a square. I've seen some Gray stations in the Midwest (Dakota News Now, Valley News Live) where those logos how they have them now are tough to make out when scrolling for the channel you want

  5. KCBS and KPIX both replaced it with LMAD.

  6. Which makes the decision to not spell out "Alaska" even more perplexing.

  7. Alaska's News Source is a branding powerhouse in the state. KTUU has used it since at least the 2000s, if not even earlier. KTUU is doing this in the same way KTVK/KPHO goes by Arizona's Family and not Arizona News NOW.

  8. There are credible reports that CBS News is losing 50 million a year, so I think it's very possible they are actually bleeding money in the morning and evening time slots. On top of this, Paramount wants to buy WB Discovery which owns CNN. Like CBS News. CNN is also struggling in the ratings. Does Paramount really want to spend money producing 2 morning shows & 2 evening newscasts that compete directly against each other for last place? I think it would be really easy for them to justify shutting CBS News down if they end up owning CNN.

  9. Note that it obviously will not be transmitted for some time, so maybe they knew they had some?

  10. It's a big state so it takes awhile for it to get to Anchorage unlike Honolulu. I like they kept the red for the 2, now in negative space; there's no need to change what works best.

  11. I'm surprised they didn't go with "Alaska News Now" like they have in Hawaii

  12. Payday, write a book, and return to FNC afterwords. Though I wouldn't be surprised that as this bandwagoning effect of hard right new product doesn't yield any profit, CBS considers completely shutting down it's News department or Paramount spins off CBS News and Stations completely.

  13. My question is, do those slots make the network good money, in comparison to late night which CBS says was bleeding money? This accelerates my concerns about the morning show's future.

  14. It looks like Hearst is getting into the local sports/OTA broadcast party. Select Orlando Magic games are coming to WESH 2, WKCF CW 18, and Tampa's MOR. https://tvnewscheck.com/business/article/select-orlando-magic-games-to-air-on-wesh-wkcf-wmor/

  16. It's painfully apparent that Scripps overbought, especially with the ION deal. Now they're dumping their weakest stations to any company that wants them, whether they can legally take them or not based on current regulations...

  17. WRTV is a dumpster fire, Hearst, Gray and the like have zero interest in a station like WRTV. WISH is awful too so i suppose it’s a perfect match. Those two newsrooms are likey to be combined with a lot of job cuts. I’ve heard Scripps has a least a few stations that are losing a significant amount of money, it’s looks like Scripps is trying to offload them.

  18. Considering that Gray has WPTA (and soon WFFT), WTHI (soon), WLFI (soon), and WFIE in Indiana, I'm curious as to why Scripps didn't sell WRTV to Gray. That's one of the companies the station badly needed if it wanted to revive itself (maybe Hearst being the other). Unfortunately, this is the second move Scripps has made that will involve a future shutdown of a news department (WFTX being the other since WINK/WXCW will control it).

  20. I mean, perhaps not as many as we think? Doesn't Circle City have a bunch of openings from that revolving door mass exodus they themselves caused?

  21. How the heck did Circle City get WRTV instead of Hearst, Graham, Weigel, or even Gray?

  22. That's another news department soon gone and will more likely be WRTV's since even Scripps couldn't take them to the top.

  23. Yeah everyone at wrtv needs to get exit plan

  24. Oof. I was hoping Circle City was the one being put out of their misery, but WRTV has been a mess for a very long time. Probably even a clean transaction before any of the rules need to be changed.

  25. Another bombshell: Circle City Broadcasting (owner of WISH) is picking up WRTV from Scripps for $83 million.

  26. Oh wow. I'm surprised they're going with The Spot - MTN instead of The Spot - Montana, but I guess that MTN is a powerful brand there.

  27. The MTN stations have the branding as I saw it in Missoula last week and verified with the program listings tonight.
