1. Now to make folks (somewhat) happy... Here's what Raymie is looking for - I apologize for the low resolution, but the larger format is an AVI file that I need to find the Codec for - it just shows up as "green lines" on the screen, and my video editing software just gives me a black screen... Cue the Deathstar... Live from KPNX, Channel 12 - Your choice for Real Life, Real News in the 90s - Kent Dana, Jineane Ford, Bill Austin weather, and Bill Denney's Sports - 12 News Tonight Then... I'll take your wolf's howl and eagle screech and raise you a retiree's "Thwack" of a golf ball at 6am! Enjoy! Jim

 2. I'm guessing that ctmikect was someone I traded with a while back, as that was on one of my original "mix tapes" of newscast opens and promos... I think I have the entire KPNX newscast on VHS - hopefully it's already digitized. I've fixed the KSAZ open date... To say goodnight to everyone - remember to "Team Up with NewsChannel 3!" (and if I find anything new from Phoenix, it will have to wait until next week, as I've hit my weekly quota on Vimeo...) And back to our regularly scheduled newscasts from the 90s... Jim

 4. A KTVK PM Magazine promo and station ID slide from May 1982. The "meatball" 3 is not yet in evidence, and the station logo was still the italicized inline 3 debuted in 1980.

 5. And this includes the WSEE feed for Puerto Rico.... Not exactly the best timing, but then again, given the current situation there, few may be able to watch TV in the first place. UPDATE: Lilly has allowed the Puerto Rico & VI stations to continue airing on Dish for now...

 6. Rafer, Mark and George did the Friday night shows, so there's either a good reason (showing viewers the new team), or I do wonder if they're considering the Sun-Thu anchor schedule (I'm pretty sure) they tried in the 90s.

 7. Personally, I expect newscast output to be on WBFF levels, but as far as staffing, it will make the infamous WCBS 1996 massacre look tame.

 8. These segments don't just schedule themselves... Somebody in traffic places those into the computer to run at a designated time. They run where the computer and management say's to run. It's entirely possible the GM or ND HAVE ASKED to run those at those times. If I was in that position, and wanted those to run in the early 4:30am slot...I would say this first... "We have hard news...and all our inventory is sold out for all our shows." ....no defiance...none. I guarantee you with those words, that corporate would allow us run those in a "throwaway show" or in some other late-night slot. Anyplace where it does not disrupt paid spots...or "real" news coverage. That's all you have to do is justify the move, these people are not stupid, they understand the mighty ad dollars. So you all should get it out of your heads that local Sinclair management is permitting some kind of local defiance...cuz it ain't happening. You can bet when the next big election cycle hits that those 'must runs" will creep into the main newscast...and be featured in nice slots....like just before weather. (God bless Chris Manson the former national ND for Sinclair who recently passed...He was a fine man, and a wonderful father. he will be missed.)

 9. That KOMO is being portrayed as "defying" Sinclair by burying those must-runs at the least accessible time slot possible... that's only giving their GM and news director the biggest bull's-eye possible back at Hunt Valley. They'll both get forced out for corporate lackeys in a few months, and KOMO will be ordered to air Osama bin Epshteyn and Mark Hernian at prime slots.

 10. That is definitely the noon cut from WNDU 1986 — I mean, really should be WKRC 1985 — I mean, I think it was called News Beat but we can't confirm that. The 1985 close cut sounds like the instrumental to a sung image campaign of some sort. The slogan at the time was "Delmarva Spirit". Here's another close from 1982: And a joke news open with Meco's Theme: And remember when Major League Baseball almost contracted? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eHS_U1gOoo0

 13. Was about to post something else from the tcmedianow channel. There have been a LOT of uploads (including a number of those rare 1970s Twin Cities newscasts and promos) on that channel over the last few days.

 14. Yes. A Nexstar station. If you're talking about a certain channel 6, yeah they're a lost cause.

 16.
What is an "Ethnic Democrat"?
Look up the extended history of WJW's horror movie hosts. @YTownNewsGuy, maybe the phrase should have been "Certain Ethnic Democrat." Edit: tagged the wrong guy. Lol

 18. Absolutely zero leeway. WJW has a lot of long-tenured staff and a lot of newscast output for a market this size. I expect an absolute bloodbath on day one because Sinclair. Actually, a good analog would be how Cumulus Media ruined KGO 810 - but a lot of the factors that led to the death of KGO were probably unavoidable (demos that aged out of any relevance; a large and expensive payroll; Cumulus' desire to McRadio everything).

 20. Not much normal material, but it's nice to see some KAET from 1990. A very end-80s/early-90s look:

 27. Tbh that's still better than playing an awful, drawn-out open. At least no open saves time and allows you to sneak in another VO or add a SOT to a VO. What I prefer to do is run the 6-8 second open, then a SOT or a quick VO before a 2-shot. Headlines are a waste of time too.
