  1. 11am weather anchor. Also, early morning traffic. No weekends. Actually, I remember Ono & Leyva (currently @ 4 & 6pm) anchored the early mornings together, while Phillip & Leslie anchored weekend evenings until about 2002, when Phillip moved to mornings with Ellen. You know I just thought of something. Reading Phillip's mention of a "new initiative", I strongly thought of the sister station to the north's "Building A Better Bay Area" series, which talks about an array of issues (homelessness, housing, public safety, transportation, etc.) I wouldn't be surprised if see a "Building a Better SoCal" or something along the lines.

  2. ABC must be having some kind of master control issue, because this has been happening sometimes on WLS, lately. That's the logo that flashes during the final few seconds of network promos, but it appears that someone or something is failing to turn it off, so it just keeps blinking.

  3. Went to check the WTIC link to see if there was an update and it redirected to a random Cablevision outage story from September and the WBNS 'story' was blank for good reason; Altice has come to terms with Tegna for Suddenlink/Optimum systems, no blackout.

  4. Here is WKYC's new lineup starting January 13: 11 a.m. – Kelly Clarkson noon – Live on Lakeside 1 p.m. – Days of Our Lives 2 p.m. – Daily Blast Live (x2) 3 p.m. – Dr. Phil 4 p.m. – Ellen 5 p.m. – 3 News at 5 p.m. (aka “What’s New”) Notice that "Lunch Break" is missing.

  5. David works noon and 4. Getting 4 was part of getting David back from CHI. Bill and Liz at 6 have been the norm for quite a while since Liz left the 11 for 4. As for why Bill at 5, he chose to take over for Diana is my guess. As for Ken, he and Lori were both taken off the 12-1 shift to relieve the load of work. Bill (and now Sam) still work both, but there was a place needed for Shirleen, and Ken and Lori at the time got a break working from 4:30-7. Lori's leaving put Shirleen at mornings as well. Of course, Ken has a ton of seniority.

  6. Fox Corporation is apparently in a dispute with virtually every small-sized cable provider in the country. https://www.facebook.com/wyandottemunicipalservices/posts/3069526503061527?__xts__[0]=68.ARDKh5gyD4JgkSJFMbDOIAZvi9pWOEXfwN5kf5wBZUIYSAy6LFzw1Ly3PIQtyzlR8n8BQtuHkQ3KSmwJzDjAA7rsSNdH5mgbLmEe0u3QJ2wajh6bcFin4fXJ9UMaPiJeaouXAGlerXS-Ec8NZ1-L0JCzOC_2FieELj7Wwh3AIYe8WjKe2gz3bMhd1ewbxZiix1vIhjgNFkiSmHOoG6EloFzdv2yqxmkClciFHVo4_xz2Xg2G9ftrPRja3yAlEFiHD391PeUjaD-2OpmA1hWj0jz14Jol6Etb1tIUZqfuiU52tf4Ymj7NF5wgZVsQMxrkrdDtvO3-QuFFsse4AA7Bsg&__tn__=-R

  7. I'd say give it about a year to a year and a half and Tegna will probably sell the WBNS radio stations

  8. Like we used to say in Lone Grove, Ok... "Just take it behind the barn and shoot it...and hurry back inside to watch the end of Dallas on tv." Not really much in the way of "closure" for us in that deal. That makes me sad just to see it die like that.

  9. It was inevitable. Radio isn’t their business. How long till they unload the Dispatch radio stations in Columbus?

  11. I'd agree that the previous "This Is Home" (Gari) and the "Gannett" (Rampage) themes weren't too bad, but Gannett/TEGNA stations butchered them. Graphics... I didn't really care for Pyburn graphics (used with Gannett theme). The USA Today style color-coded graphics weren't too bad, although the color-coded tabs were a bit over the top. I don't care too much for "C Clarity" (Sixeme Son) music. Current graphics is okay. KUSA had its custom music (Third Street Music) from 1995-2009, and KARE had its custom music (also by Third Street) 1996-2013, as they didn't get Gannett package. Their custom music packages could easily be their versions of MCTYW (still heard on WPVI) and Chroma Cues (WJZ's longtime theme music). Portland and Bangor stations had "Good News" (Gari) for longest time. WFAA having "The Spirit of Texas" signature in their news music, before Belo sold out. It'd be a sad day for WNEP if and when they're forced to dump the Cliff Schwartz version of MCTYW for C Clarity. Besides TEGNA stations having newscasts with non-traditional names (like the current WKYC mess, WUSA's morning news, WTSP newscasts, WXIA newscasts, etc.), I wasn't a huge fan of the Rundown/Lineup concept. I believe that was something started on WGRZ by their former news director Ellen Crooke, and she implemented it on WXIA, and Gannett forced it on other stations. I also don't care for WXIA's current 11Alive logo either. I'd have welcomed them bringing back their pre-1993 logo or variation, or maybe a circle 11 logo with the Times New Roman font 11 (1993-2019 logo) with the Alive and NBC peacock to right. It's a thought.

  12. There are things I like and dislike about This is Home and Rampage, although I tend to favor This is Home more. If not This is Home, I'd certainly be okay with hearing Rampage again. I think it sounded great. Sure, you had some stations mess up the implementation of it--but it was a great package overall. KUSA and WBIR used it the best, imo.

  13. I never really cared for "This is Home," and I'm generally a fan of warm-and-fuzzy Gari packages ("Hello News" especially.) Our local TEGNA stations even continue to use "Good News" for their winter storm coverage.

  14. Heck, I'd settle for the Rampage package at this point...
