  1. Just watch as WPGH or WPCW grab her.

  2. Kelly Clarkson airing at 3 AM in a market as large as Pittsburgh is just wrong. Especially since she's in a transition period to take over Ellen's timeslots on many affiliates in 2022. Did anyone tune into the YBYL premiere? Did it seem like a hit? How was the chemistry between Jay Leno and Kevin Eubanks, knowing they haven't been together on TV in 10 years or more?

  3. Kind of has a European feel too it. The sunrise element is very out of place in a wide shot though - is that built in to the wall? I'm a bit disappointed to see them move out of 3C. The set still worked very well and has aged nicely.

  4. I'm left wondering if a few weeks ago somebody said, "Let's try Nightly from here some night and see how it works out". A handful of rehearsal shows later... and there ya go. The fact that the Today show sunrise element is still in that last shot above during Nightly makes me wonder. That marble floor though... not. good.

  5. Thank you! I watched the supercut on NewscastStudio, and the thing I couldn't help but notice is that the camera is constantly moving during those in-studio shots. I know they want the broadcast to be dynamic, but sometimes it's a bit much!

  6. None of that would work. This is really the only way they can make this work right now. Another far fetched idea that would make this work is to cancel The Talk and give the 2pm hour to the affiliates, which won't be happening anytime soon. I personally don't think them adding a 12:30pm newscast is entirely necessary, but that's just me. Yes this would've been a smart move. But Judy has always been a strong lead-in to WPXI's newscasts, so they really don't want to mess with something that's working. And I commend them for that. But the other solution I had in mind was to move Kelly to 11am before their Noon news, and move Wendy Williams to either 3am or it could go to another station. At this point, the only two ways for Kelly to get a decent timeslot in Pittsburgh is if Rachael Ray gets cancelled or is move to another channel or when Ellen ends next year, it could move to WTAE, which is certainly possible.

  7. What a waste of channel bandwidth. If there weren't 1A implications where the FCC can't kill a station based on poor content, WRNN's use of their spectrum auction funds could be considered a betrayal to the American taxpayer. You have Weigel, who used their WMLW spectrum sale to expand MeTV to wide main-channel coverage and their sister networks...good use of their money, along with WVCY grabbing full-metro radio stations from poor/terrible owners to expand their reach; don't agree with some of their views, but their heart is in the right place. Then there's WRNN and Richard French, which are wasting wide main-channel coverage in major markets on ShopHQ, infomercial feeds, and low-tier networks (not counting the ethnic networks that existed on them before purchase, which just tail along on the RNN spectrum and actually do good compared to their owner).

  8. Not happening, Kelly is more likely to move to WTAE when Ellen finishes.

  9. Has anyone started watching "Jeopardy!" this week? The Mike Richards era has started this week. Here's an article that will be happy to see him gone from the TV screens. (By the way, the comments here are more pro-Mike than usual.) https://deadline.com/2021/09/jeopardy-host-mike-richards-review-1234832394/

  10. I agree with that. It probably wouldn't hurt to re-air the news at 12:30pm after Tomlin's press conference. But it isn't necessary beyond that.

  11. For Tuesdays it makes sense due to the Steelers Mike Tomlin Press Conference airing at 12 PM on WPCW against the live KDKA Noon newscast. In the off season and other days? I'm not so sure.

  12. Yeah there's no need for that honestly. They already do that on CBSN Pittsburgh, and it should just stay there. No need for it to air on WPCW at the same time. I actually thought it was a live newscast.

  13. I'm guessing Jessica Boyington gets the job. She filled that role before at WCAU and I'm fairly certain they hired her with David's eventual retirement in mind. They'll try her and Matt Pellman out just to do their due diligence though.

  14. TV Passport confirms YS at 7 on WJZY. The Young Sheldon website is incorrect for Charlotte. Young Sheldon will be airing at 7 on WJZY (that is correct) and 10 on WMYT and not noon and 7:30 on WJZY. I knew the noon WJZY listing was incorrect. WJZY does keep their run of BBT at 7:30. WMYT picks up a run of TMZ to replace the WJZY 7:00 airing at 1am. This pushes Dish Nation back to 1:30am. Most stations that air both runs will probably be airing the pilot episode first on Monday and then the Season 3 premiere. However in Charlotte it will be backwards…WJZY will be airing the Season 3 premiere at 7 and WMYT the pilot at 10. WMYT will be cutting out a run of Schitt’s Creek to make room for their run of YS. They ought to put YS at 9 and put BBT at 9:30 and 10 so it would be chronologically correct, like WJZY with YS at 7 and BBT at 7:30.

  17. Here’s a look at how Nightly uses the space. You’ll notice new insert and full screen graphics, however, the open and L3 remain the same. Interesting - Nightly, Today, and Meet the Press all originate from street side studios now.

  18. Great days of Jane and Bryant? Let me go to bed.

  19. I guess intelligent morning tv would be like the Bryant Gumbell/Jane Pauley years on Today as the best example. Extended interviews, news magazine type feature pieces and conversations with people like military generals, foreign policy experts, and introspective authors. Dumbed down would be modern GMA. Stories on some former Power Ranger actor caught up in a murder mystery or secret recordings of dentists’ snarky side comments while the patients were under anesthesia (ACTUAL stories that they have done). CBS Mornings on the other hand would be focusing on millennial home buyer-ship rates, climate change’s threats to Florida’s oyster population, and pandemic exoduses from cities to the rural areas (actual stories they’ve done). They borrow some bits from the competition but the positives outweigh that for me.

  21. I believe the response says that Gray moved CBS to the LD after meeting with FCC staff. It’s close to guaranteed that Gray won’t pay the $500K fine. This will eventually end up in a federal courtroom, where the FCC has a terrible track record. Gray will end up paying nothing or a tiny fraction of the original fined amount.

  23. Dale Hansen signed off one final time on WFAA tonight. But the opening of tonight's 10pm got me. They reenacted the 'Taxi' promo he did when he left KDFW 4 for Channel 8 over 38 years ago. And they brought in longtime VO guy John B. Wells to drive the Taxi. Videos Courtesy of WFAA's YT page.

  25. I will say it was confirmed by PBRTV that the WPCW 12:30 Newscast would be a repeat of the KDKA noon news and not be a LIVE broadcast which just makes this lazy on KDKA's part.
