  1. Hell, we could watch MSNBC for free on YouTube too! If video killed the radio star, YouTube killed video. What does cable MSNBC or Fox News and CNN provide that their YouTube channels don’t already have besides ads for boomer medication and overpriced novelty gifts?

  2. I wish networks industry wide could just take a stand and make all content hard factual news, so audiences have little option but to consume it. But I guess that won't happen so here we are...

  3. Saturday Today has an updated background in their Washington studio (N5). It debuted today. Their virtual background makes them look like they are on street level with a similar set up to studio 1A in NYC. It appears the NBC family of channels is investing a lot of money in virtual backgrounds (we see them on MSNBC Reports, several other MSNBC shows, and now on Saturday Today). Pics attached show the previous and new background.

  4. 3K will be history for WNBC! The station along with WNJU/Telemundo will be moving to newly constructed studios on the 2nd Floor of 30 Rock. Not sure of the date for the move.

  5. Or, what about someone who knows and cares do some judicious editing of Pete's report???? Things have become so sloppy at the station - how long can you blame Covid. Just take a look at the Bill's Books segment. With all those books in his home, surely he could be advised to use a few to prop up his laptop! Then there was this year's holiday sing-along - a travesty! Have you seen the new promos for Today in New York? The station doesn't have a "new team" - it has a new traffic reporter who has joined the team! Ignorance and apathy are alive and well at 30 Rock!!!! UGH!

  6. Yes. And it was later sold to tower behemoth American Tower when CBS offloaded all of their tower sites to them years ago, so there's other tenants there now as well. And WTVJ is now back at this tower following the digital transition (since the analog-era spacing issues that forced 6 to build its stick further south did not exist with digital).

  7. If KDKA Radio's talk lineup and KDKA-FM's sports hot takes haven't made it clear KDKA-TV isn't a part of them anymore, I don't know what to tell that viewer; there are still misguided radio listeners who call in to yell at WISN-TV for whatever hot take was thrown out by Mark Belling on WISN radio, even though they haven't shared anything, much less weather forecasts, in 20 years besides a callsign. That's definitely a viewer you're glad 'will never watch your TV station again you (whatever insult they have)!'.

  8. My guess is that this is a reaction to the fact that the SPC's 1am CT outlook today had a 10% hatched area for tornado risk, which SPC walked back as of the 8am CT update and moved it back down to a 5% risk area. TWC's decisions on pre-emptions this year seem to be based on hatched tornado risk areas. If there's a hatched tornado risk; they'll pre-empt, but if there's not a hatched tornado risk area, they don't pre-empt. The tornado risk areas last week that they refused to pre-empt programming for were standard 10% risk areas without the hatched area. IMO, those should be taken as seriously as a 10% hatched area, specially like last Thursday when there was a huge 45% hatched straight-line wind risk, but TWC hates covering straight-line wind events because it's not as dramatic as tornado coverage.

  9. So I just realized that the Stream TWC thing... you need cable/satellite to stream it plus pay with a monthly or annual plan. Its like... what's the damn point?

  10. I'm probably gonna join this service at some point. I miss The Weather Channel but not the 8PM-5AM stuff they air. I can wholly do that without.

  12. Thank you, @ABC 7 Denver. One thing I noticed is how absolutely hyper-critical this fandom tends to be without actually taking a step back and trying to understand the "How"s & "Why"s behind changes in news products. Are some graphics actually bad? Yes. Some are. Is EVERY SINGLE aspect of a graphics package bad simply because you personally don't like one aspect of it? No. That's absolutely not the case. These absolute statements and severe judgements based on a few minutes of witnessing something new just leads to drama, and I'm personally getting kind of sick of it. It's not everybody, but I just find the irony kind of amazing that the whole thing behind news is being objective, yet we let our personal feelings dictate definitively that something is "bad". Not everything is 100% "Bad" MY53's news department is a one-man-band with the budget of $12 and a ham sandwich. The product will get better over time. There will be a lot of testing & figuring it out, and he deserves our support for taking on a project like this. Bottom line is, Austin is one of us. He's a total news nerd just like we are, and he's a damn good journalist. He has a challenge ahead of him that he willingly took on. We really should, as a community, be in his corner to support him, and not completely rip apart his product on the first night. In fact, we really need to learn how to sit back and observe things for a few nights before we draw our conclusions, weighing all pros & cons of certain things instead of just crapping on something the first time we see it just because it's different. TLDR: Guys, we really need to step it up and do better, instead of turning everything into a bitch-fest.

  14. Jim Ramsey, longtime weather anchor and reporter at WGN-TV for 30 years from 1987 to 2017 (and whose career in Chicago began at WLS-TV years before), has died at the age of 69. As someone who watched him regularly growing up on the former WGN superstation feed, all I can say is… we’ll miss you, Jim.

  15. Sad day in the Washington news world Regarding Bruce, I want to say that when he retired from WUSA he was the last person left from the WTOP era at that station.
