Really, what is their deal, over there? BY MY COUNT (let me know if anything has changed), KTRK puts out 9.5 hours of news, each weekday, as do KABC and WPVI, and yet they have way more anchors. Outside of the morning shows and whatever role Simon is taking on at 10pm on 13, note that 3rd anchors (looking at you, 6abc) are in contributing roles. The question mark count is also for where there are apparent vacancies. I know some of the KTRK folks have other on-air roles, like Winkler and Rivas, but goodness, they're an insanely bloated operation.

This chart makes me wonder if WABC or WPVI or WTVD will start a 3pm newscast with Rachael Ray ending and vacating the 2pm spot (GH would move to 2pm).

I’m going to have to agree with @MorningNews; if channel 7 weren’t number 1 in the morning, this would be a fantastic experiment to try out, but right now it would be unwise for them to mess with what works.

I feel like this kind of thing works well as a mid-morning show, though.

I feel it’s more likely they would add both Mike and Michelle as co-anchors with Shirleen if they’re switching things up.

Agreed that John and Kala are probably currently the most underutilized talent at PIX. I find Kala a better anchor than Arrianee; and agreed that John has been moved around to every single slot and he's managed to comply. He must have a lot of patience; that is not quite how you should treat your groundbreaking veteran AM news anchor. And the same with Kaity on weekends. If anything put Kala as weekend anchor and have Kaity where she belongs-at 6pm weeknights!

Either way back to real life, the current lineup seems to be

4-5pm :Tamsen and Arrianee (currently Kori since Vanessas on leave)

    5/6/6:30: Tamsen and Kori

    10pm: Kori and Shirley

Wouldn’t it make sense to put Shirley on one of the earlier shows, so that Tamsen’s not anchoring 3 straight hours.

Multiple outlets (Radar, OK Magazine, Rickey Smiley Morning Show---take what you will from their legitimacy) are reporting that Gayle King will sign a $12 Million deal with CNN. This woukd make her the highest paid talent at the network.

Congrats to Gayle! As for CNN, is she and Charles Barclay really the answer to the network's problem?

I wish Gayle was 5 days a week. They could call it “Gayle King Live”, sounding similar to the last successful show they had in the 9pm slot (Larry King Live), as I presume it will be the same type of show.

Anchor/Reporter Jillian Mele has left 6abc, and her bio has been removed from the 6abc website.

Wonder who will replace her on weekend evenings with Walter. My bet is Alyana, but I could see them giving Christie, Maggie, and Nydia a tryout.

Not that surprised. The show was just "There" for at least a few years now. It seems almost like a mutual decision on her part. The syndies keep dropping like flies.

Wonder if the ABC O&Os in the east will begin a 3pm newscast.

Changes coming to WRC (NBC O&O) in Washington, DC:

    https://www.adweek.com/tvspy/tony-perkins-to-join-wrc-in-washington-d-c-pat-lawson-muse-to-retire/247286/

    - Tony Perkins to join as morning co-anchor

    - Pat Lawson-Muse to retire

    - Eun Yang moves to co-anchoring the 4 & 6 pm newscasts

So it’ll be Tony & Jumi in AM, Leon & Eun at 4&6, and Jim & Shawn at 5&11? Surprised they don’t just rotate anchors for the 11am and keep Erika on weekends.

Shropshire...Shwell.  I wonder who his co-anchor will be?  I haven't seen Jackie London on the air in 3 weeks.  Even FTVLive mentioned her absence.

Jackie was on last night from 5pm and on. Ironically Johnny Archer anchored 4pm solo.

They should put Johnny in the mix too. Pair Fred with Jackie and Johnny with Tracy.

  10. I’ve got to think Jillian’s a shoe in for weekend evenings at this point. She’s been co-anchoring with Walter a bunch of weeks in a row now, sometimes on both nights. I’m wondering if they’re waiting for the new sports person to start before making the official announcement and changing the opening.

They do still appear to be testing pairings at noon and on weekend mornings.

  11. Lucy and Erin co-anchored 4am-7am.

    Lucy anchored solo at 11am.

    Keith anchored solo at 4pm.

    Johnny anchored solo at 5pm.

    Keith anchored solo at 6pm.

    Keith anchored solo at 7pm.

Keith will presumably anchor solo at 11pm.

Why is it okay for two females to co-anchor together, but it’s considered taboo for two males to co-anchor together? They could’ve had Keith and Johnny co-anchor together. If not, why not keep Keith in the morning, and have Lucy (or Erin) jump to the nightside to co-anchor with Johnny?

What about the other parts of Texas and Louisiana that is in their territory?

They show Rangers, Stars, and Mavericks games on the main feed. The sub feeds are named appropriately for the territories of the teams they show.

I'm hoping that NBC Sports buys Bally Sports and rebrands. It would be nice to see Bally Sports Southwest change to NBC Sports Southwest.

NBC SPORTS DFW would be more appropriate.

From what I've watched recently, Natasha is doing the 9AM show solo, while still co-anchoring at 4PM, rather than the morning crew. I think that started around the same time the 7AM hour launched.

Glad to hear that’s the case, but surprised to hear she’s doing the 9am instead of the 12noon, which would make more sense in my opinion. Also surprised that Siafa’s only responsibilities are the 4pm.

KYW has relaunched morning news on WPSG- they're now airing the 7am hour that recently began airing online

Kind of surprised they haven’t had the morning team hand off the noon to the 4pm team yet. With Kate handling weather at noon and 4pm now, it would make sense for uniformity/consistency purposes. Plus the morning team has a lot on their plate, 4:30-8:00am, national show cut-ins through 9am, news at 9am. That’s essentially 5 hours of on-air time.

Very small and slightly ridiculous nitpick but I really wish they’d do a Friday alternate 6pm open that features Sam and similarly one featuring Ryan for Sundays.

It’s always annoyed me that Sam is in the talent open morning and noon talent opens on Fridays despite technically having that day off every week.

As for Sam C on Fridays, it is technically his shift, but he has the day off. Probably similar thinking for the sports team.

Over on WPVI, there was a few years where Sarah had added Sunday evenings to her schedule leading her to have Fridays off (with a few rare exceptions), but she was still listed in the open, and her co-anchor continued to say Sarah’s off.

This screams more 'a vacant white dude convinced the brass to get the promotion over him', or a bench with too much talent already (thus him being behind T.J.), rather than his talent being overlooked. I can't blame him; if a company doesn't respect his talent, he can go elsewhere, and that's something to respect.

… except that’s not what happened in any of his past employment situations at all. He was not passed on for promotions, and in most situations had positions most people work much longer to achieve.

It's also a news-focused program. If we were still in the Michael/Keke/Sara days, no brainer, go ahead and have Joy come in (not that any of those three had any scandals at all so this wouldn't even be happening without a pandemic forcing them off). But unless the only thing she's hosting is a "Joy's World" opinion segment or Steals & Deals...no, you don't want a comedian hosting a news show.

Demarco Morgan deserves the job, meanwhile. Been following him since his WISN days. Pay the man his due and let him lead a network show.

My only issue with Demarco is he doesn’t seem to stay anywhere long. Not good if you’re grooming someone to eventually take over the mothership GMA. And not only does he not stay long, he’s been at all three networks on some level. Doesn’t scream loyalty either.

I don't understand why someone's age was part of this comment. Let's see you (or any of us for that matter) do live television five days a week at 80 years old. The way the original post was written seemed a bit snarky to me. I hope that wasn't the intention.

By the way, this story about Joy Behar was first published by Radar Online https://www.msn.com/en-us/tv/news/ambitious-joy-behar-eyeing-amy-robach-s-gma-job-as-abc-scrambles-to-find-replacement-after-t-j-holmes-affair-scandal/ar-AA16Xbwo An ABC rep has denied the story. I agree that there are many directions ABC News could go with this show. But I would be surprised if they went opinion heavy. ABC News already has that...it is called The View.

Because they want stability, and an 80-yr old isn’t gonna provide that. And a matter of correction, she works 4 days a week, as she has Mondays off.
