Chris Welch in "The 6 O'Clock News". I don't know if it's going to be permanent, I'd prefer Teresa.

Actually like this move. Maybe they can add Theresa to “The Noon” and 6pm to co-anchor with him?

Take it for what it's worth, Sibila Vargas posted a photo of her at WNBC with Janice Huff and a WNBC hairstylist the other day with the caption "When you reunite with your besties". The hairstylists responded "welcome back to NY" and Sibila responded "happy to be back"

She had been doing a morning show in SC for a while and haven't seen any announcement of her leaving (and she is still listed on their site) but have not seen any SC posts for a couple of months now.  Will be interesting to see if she does end up back at WNBC again.

Is Adam still solo at midday and 5pm?

You obviously didn't read the OP fully. It says:

Titles such as Good Day (Timbuktu) and Today in (Your Neck of the Woods) – with or without the network/channel number tag – don't fall under this criteria. These are common titles/daypart branding which tend to be associated with stations owned by/affiliated with a specific network: Today in... for NBC and Good Day... for Fox (with a notable exception being WSVN in Miami, whose morning show has been called Today in South Florida since that station was an NBC affiliate).

While I agree @MorningNews often gets salty, I kind of agree with them this time as it is somewhat confusing why this is not ok to post. Also, Today in South Florida is used by WTVJ, while WSVN uses Today in Florida.

NBC 5 is now a tie-optional operation, and I'm not sure how to feel about it.

Keith at WCAU is usually no tie in the mornings, but the morning newscasts tend to be a little softer.

One month in to the new season, and WRC 4 Washington DC is already futzing with its schedule:

Dateline and NBC News Daily have switched places (Dateline now at noon and NBC News Daily now at 3pm).  Access and Kelly kept their 2022-23 season timeslots (1pm and 2pm, respectively), so far...

    Jim

Wonder if they want to have one of the western feeds since Aaron anchors there. Surprised they didn’t follow the other O&Os in moving Kelly to 3pm (and have Dateline at 2pm, Access at 1pm, and NBCND at 12noon).

I must say with regards to NBC News Daily that I’m surprised they don’t have their strongest anchors (Kate and Aaron) anchoring the “East coast” feeds.

Yes! For a few years The Talk was more palatable than the ultra political The View, but in recent years -- especially since the original cast departures -- the show is a mess. It's a corporate feeling CBS promotional panel show with the same unoriginal PC opinions as everything else. They tried to make it different from The View with unisex hosts as of late, but it still doesn't work. As much as I like Jerry O'Connell he comes off as way too animated and over the top.

I found The Real to be the better of the three because it really felt like a younger/fresher show based off of its hosts, and it's less political more interpersonal social drama related topics like dating. It sucks that The Real went off the air before The Talk.

I actually found The Talk and The Real both to be too “fake”. The View has never been afraid to have differing views. Just seems like the other two’s hosts were going out of their way to agree with each other and not talk about real hot topics.

Could this also signal the end of CBS The Talk? It’s been a couple of speculations that the show is trash and heading towards cancellation …even Andy Cohen (whose late night talk show is also on its last leg) had cohost Jerry O’Connell saying that Jerry is pulling the most weight and carrying The Talk.

The sad part is that Andy and Jerry think that’s true. I actually think that Jerry drags down the show.

Networks are going away. The GM here has already made the comment, “do we really need to be a CBS/network affilliate ?  They are banking on creating a local brand. CBS owns a station in Atlanta. Gray is well aware that CBS most likely will pull an NBC BOSTON type move in ATLANTA.  Gray is smart to create a non CBS yet local brand.

With WGCL (soon-to-be WFNA) dropping "CBS" branding and eye logo... It wouldn't surprise me if CBS affiliation was to change channels in Atlanta at some point.

"Atlanta News First" does kind of give off a similar vibe to WJZY which has "Queen City News" as its branding.

They already have one…WUPA…they just don’t have the affiliation on there. They have CW on there. Same in Seattle and Tampa. But I guess the CW would move to WPCH…because there’s no need for Gray to have two independents in that scenario. The other scenario would be for CBS to sell WUPA to Nexstar and keep CW on WUPA but the writing seems to be on the wall for WGCL, soon to be WANF,  to drop CBS with the branding changes. That and Nexstar might have to sell a station in another market for cap reasons if they bought WUPA.

You all do realize CBS has owned WUPA since 1994, right? If they wanted to move the affiliation, they would’ve done so a while ago. A lot of major market CBS affiliates are in 3rd or 4th place, you don’t see CBS trying to move affiliations there, do you? Also, Gray owns other CBS affiliates, I don’t thing CBS is looking to piss off Gray. What NBC did in Boston is completely different, as they did not own a station there prior.

KDKA had the Eyewitness News name until '96, 'BZ had it until '93, and 'JZ had it until either '17 or '18. It would be nice if the EWN name would make a comeback on KD, BZ, and JZ. And personally, I wish my home station had the EWN name in DFW.

Don’t forget KPIX too. I’ve always felt the Eyewitness News name was a better fit for CBS stations as their logo is an eye.

And the Action News name would be a better fit for ABC stations solely because they both start with A’s.

WABC and KTLA are not the same stations and don’t have similar identities or management. That management at WABC was willing to let Lori come back and say goodbye is not the standard, it’s the exception. What’s confusing?

You said different situation. The situation is exactly the same, it’s just the people involved that are different.

  11. 2 hours ago, MorningNews said:

I love Lynette but in what industry would you be able to walk over to a direct competitor (KTLA Morning News vs Today in LA) and not be immediately shown the door? Hell most companies unceremoniously escort you out the door the instant you disclose that you’re leaving for a direct competitor.

WABC took Lori Stokes off the air but let her say goodbye in the last 10 minutes of the morning newscast.

This morning Frances Wang is anchoring solo.

And today as well. Danny Freeman handled the 11am yesterday.

On a related note, Bill must be losing it. Yesterday he referred to Katie (who was filling in for Sheila) as Sheila. Today he referred to Frances as Rosemary.

  13. Sone odd anchoring fill ins:

Natasha has been filling in in the morning and at 9am alongside Janelle while Jim’s been in the UK on assignment. Janelle’s been soloing at noon.

Siafa and Ukee co-anchored together at 4 and 5 today.

Just seems odd that they wouldn’t send Siafa to morning to fill in and keep Natasha in evening to fill in.

Also still perplexed they haven’t handed off the noon to the 4pm team. Earlier this week, Jessica was subbing for Natasha, there’s no reason Siafa couldn’t have handled the noon.

Yeah, I'm totally taking this as Bannon giving up the 11, and having the weekenders split the week. Hell, why not recast the whole 11am as a newsroom-anchored vehicle for Brad Edwards, of Streaming with Brad fame?

Yeah, after reading it again, I’m reading it that way, as well. Maybe Ellis Monday-Wednesday and Curran Thursday-Friday. I agree, hopefully Edwards is named the anchor.

Who does maria saavedra Anchor the 4pm with? Maybe her and Brad can helm 11am and 4pm?
