  1. I could see Katie Couric in a Larry King type of role in the 9pm hour. I could also see Bill Weir take over the 10pm hour with a Nightline type of show. And a news wrap up show at 11pm, kind of like they had with Aaron Brown.

    9pm: Katie Couric Tonight/Live

    10pm: Lateline with Bill Weir

    11pm: Newsnight with Aaron Brown

  2. Sunday night had coanchors today. Nydia was in next to Walter tonight. She had subbed for him last night too.

Jaclyn was in for her Sunday Morning next to Gray.

I could get on board with these pairings.

On a separate note, it seems that Christie Ileto is now the 4pm features anchor. She is mentioned in the close now and Alicia is not.

Bring back Scott Pelley or Jeff Glor. I wonder where Norah could end up?

Because Scott and Jeff did so well ratingswise when they were in the chair … not gonna happen.

Actually Stefan did replacing Rob Elgas which he moved to the 4:30pm newscast until he leaved the station in 2015.

Not true. Rob left in early 2015, and his 4pm chair remained a cycle of Dick and Rob for like a year until they brought in Patrick Fazio. Stefan was Marion's co-anchor when the 11am news was relaunched.

Didn’t Rob used to anchor in the mornings before anchoring the 4:30pm? I think mornings he was replaced by Stefan is what was being referenced.

The promos here in NY for the gubernatorial debate with WABC and WPVI showed Jim Gardner hosting with Sade Baderinwa.. instead Bryan Taff was hosting. Was this a last minute change or did something happen?

Brian tweeted that he was asked to fill in.  He didn't give any other info.

Which would explain why Brian was off today.

  7. The morning has an updated open that just mentions Karen, Tamela, and Matt.

Traffic last week was Jessica (M, F) and Matt (Tu, W, Th) and so far has followed the same pattern this week thru Thursday morning.

Also, last week noon weather was handled by Brittney (M, F), Chris (Tu), Karen (W), and Adam (Th). So far Monday thru Wednesday of this week has followed the same pattern.

  8. Also wondering who will do weather at noon. David used to do weather at noon (M-Th with Friday off) but he also would first appear on air at 4:30am (not 4am - Karen handled the weather that first half hour). So far Britney did Monday (also 4pm too) and Chris did Tuesday.

Honestly think they should give Adam the noon. Have him do noon, 4pm, 6pm, and Cecily 5pm (full hour), 10pm, 11pm. Gives Adam & Cecily equal air time, let’s Adam get home at a decent time to see his kids, and alleviates Karen from working 10 hour days.

Also …. CBS now has a Black woman, a Greek man and Black man who was a former NFL athlete all anchoring a morning show in Times Square.  Sound familiar? 🤔

I don’t believe Tony is Greek.

Re:  I wonder if WCBS will add a 4pm too?

I present to you, News 2 at 4. I doubt they will do a re-boot.

Plenty of stations have had 4pm newscasts, gotten rid of them, and brought them back years or decades later. Not sure why you’re doubting it could happen.

  11. Wonder what the plan is after he leaves. I see a few options:

1-Karen slides over to weather with Jessica Boyington taking over traffic.

2-Karen slides over to weather with Matt Pellman taking over traffic while continuing at 4pm and 5pm.

3-Karen slides over to weather with Matt Pellman taking over traffic while Jessica Boyington takes over afternoon traffic.

Also, I feel this is a good time to rearrange weekday weather duties as mornings and noon is a long time for one person.

    Cecily-5pm (full hour), 10pm, 11pm

    Adam-12noon, 4pm, 6pm

    Karen (or David’s replacement)-mornings

I'm not optimistic at the ratings potential, period, but if it's just another hour of Brad & Irika (find a week when both are co-anchoring), with the low-key presentation and super serious mood, it'll be DOA. Besides, a 4th show of the same team will look cheap, even to the casual viewer. Good luck to them, but enjoy the continued battle for 4th place.

KYW does this already and indeed seems pointless to have the same anchors on that entire time.

    I assume it’s Judge Judy’s replacement.

I think CBS should have kept Jeff Glor in Evenings. He was just becoming popular when they replaced him with Norah. Unfortunately, there has to be a network that's in third place and David and Lester were still more popular with viewers.

Norah's not a bad anchor but I still liked her better on CTM and as a White House Correspondent.  I also don't care that they sort of copied WNT's method of "shouting" the headlines at the beginning for drama.

I actually do like that the newscast is now based in Washington, as they're always have been more news stories there than in NYC.

I'll guess we'll see what continues to happen to their ratings. I don't see Norah going away in the foreseeable future.

Jeff Glor’s stardom had already climaxed when he was given the EN. They should’ve given him the position when Katie left, and not to Scott.

Can't remember the last time a lame duck station was thanked in a show's station move; makes me wonder if WCIU agreed to let Tamron (which was apparently doing well for them) go in exchange for other Disney programming.

The only other Disney show on WLS’ schedule is Kelly and Ryan, I doubt WCIU ends up with that but stranger things have happened. Now I could see WCIU get American Housewife reruns next year which are owned by Disney.

WCIU has a good relationship with the other stations in town. Still, a little odd for such a mention, but remember that ABC 7 aired news on The U for 4.5, and the elimination of it was mutually beneficial. There are no hard feelings there.

When Tamron’s show was originally picked up, it was by the ABC O&O group, including WLS. Because they could not find room on the schedule, it was sublicensed to WCIU. So I believe WLS was able to get it back when the opportunity presented itself.

No way Live with Kelly and Ryan is going anywhere. It used to air on WGN and when the opportunity presented itself WLS grabbed it. I feel like WLS over the years has attempted to match the schedule of it’s sister stations, and it’s basically achieved that now.

He doesn't take Fridays off as though they're vacation days.  He's employed to work four days a week.

Bill Ritter has come in on a weekend for breaking news. I’m sure Lee has popped in on a Saturday or Sunday too. I think the point others were trying to make was that in breaking news/weather events, anchors/meteorologists will come in on a scheduled day off (Lee was on vacation and appeared). It’s also possible that Sam may not have been able to fly out yesterday either.
