  1. WCAU has had some guy in Dallas doing the weather weekend mornings while Krystal is filling in on weekday evenings for Brittney who is on maternity leave. Honestly surprised they just don’t have their NYC station meteorologists fill in as they are the closest.
  2. Just a follow up, DFW also has a similar set up as they have an Indy station too. I wonder if the 10pm news at WPHL becomes an in-house operation, and if so, what happens to Gray Hall?
  3. If the affiliations get pulled I could see them doing what they’ve done with their duopoly station in Miami, affiliate with MNTV.
  4. WPVI had similar absences (except theirs were spread across the entire day, in some instances 7 of the 8 weekday anchors being off) a few weeks ago for two straight weeks.
  5. Was kinda hoping it would have taken over the 9pm hour on CNN.
  6. Have they mentioned what’s going to replace The Good Dish? Maybe Rachael Ray from overnights?
  7. What would a combined Discovery+/HBO Max be called? Warner+?
  8. Ducis has been out the entire week. With Jamie now handling weekend duties as well, just seems wrong to make her work 9 days straight.
  9. A return to almost normalcy today?: Morning: Matt, Maggie, Karen weather, Matt traffic Noon: Alicia (solo), Chris weather 4pm: Walter, Sarah, Chris weather, Alicia feature anchor, Christie reporting on the street, Jessica traffic 5pm: Alicia, Sharrie, Brittany weather, Jessica traffic, Rick road trip 6pm: Sharrie, Brittany weather

  11. 12. This Monday morning Jillian Mele and Alicia Vitarelli are in for Matt (who will be along later today) and Tamela. Also, Gina Gannon is doing traffic. Alicia also anchored the noon solo (but did say Sarah would be along later). I'm wondering if there’s been a COVID outbreak. There’s been way too many people off, with Sarah putting in a marathon shift Thursday (and was supposed to be on Friday), and Matt pulling a marathon shift on Friday.
  13. And the odd fill-ins continue into the weekend. Jaclyn solo anchored Saturday morning, Alicia solo anchored Sunday morning and noon, and Nydia is in for Walter on Saturday and Sunday evening.
  14. So far today: Morning: Matt & Alicia Noon: Alicia (solo) (also said Sarah would be along later) 4pm: Matt & Alyana 5pm: Matt & Alyana 6pm: Matt 10pm: Nydia (solo) 11pm: Matt
  15. Thursday was only slightly better: 12noon: Christie & Alicia 4pm: Gray & Sarah 5pm: Gray & Christie 6pm: Sarah 10pm: Sarah (solo) 11pm: Sarah
  16. They must be short staffed today (Wed.): 12noon: Brian & Sarah 4pm: Gray & Sarah 5pm: Gray & Christie 6pm: Sarah 10pm: Gray (solo) 11pm: Sarah
  17. I’m more curious to know who covered for her while she was out.
  18. I think you took my post out of context. I wasn’t suggesting Pauley or Norville head to the EN. I was quoting someone who mentioned the numerous talent that has gone from NBC (specifically Today) to CBS, and was adding those two names.
  19. Sunday night’s newscasts had new openings with talent’s names. Interestingly, the names mentioned were Brittany, Jamie, and Walter. So Jamie must now be doing weekend sports permanently. Also, some interesting anchoring over the weekend: Saturday AM: Bob Brooks & Christie Ileto Sunday AM: Jaclyn Lee & Nydia Han Maggie Kent subbed both evenings for Walter. Not a fan of the Gray/Sharrie pairing. They don’t gel well together. Surprised they don’t utilize him for earlier fill-ins.
  20. They did say “likely” which can be used synonymously with “good bets”.
  21. Stop making excuses for Pelley. He just wasn’t that good. I get you guys appreciate his style of anchoring, but he clearly didn’t resonate with most viewers. Yes, the problem is bigger than just the anchors. A lot of the bigger affiliates are also 3rd, leading to a poor lead in.
  22. I’m not sure why people keep mentioning Scott Pelley. He had 7 years to move the needle and did nothing. I’m sorry to burst your bubbles, but to the general viewing public, he sucked. You don’t become recognizable by being put in that chair, but you get put in that chair because you’re recognizable. I’ve said this a million times, CBS’s bench isn’t that great. ABC and NBC know how to groom their talent.
  23. Wow, surprised they passed over Walter and Christie. Wonder who will take over Gray’s spot on weekends. They don’t really have any male anchor candidates waiting in the wings. Will miss Gray starting off the Saturday newscast with “a pleasant good morning to you” and his banter with Chris. Also, I feel like this decision is incredibly shortsighted. With rumors of Nexstar buying the CW, which might lead to an affiliation swap with 57, and the rumor of them placing NewsNation in the 10pm hour, the WPVI-produced newscast may not be for the long term.
