Holy sh*t. It's beyond me how he could be this awful. I seriously can't imagine. I was so sure he wouldn't be this bad, but then I saw the poorly ramped text and I had an inkling that I was sadly wrong.

What do you expect for a package that's almost 12 years old?

ABC changing their logo; New graphics coming for ABC owned stations
ABC 7 Denver replied to Briella's topic in Graphics
TEGNA did not DO those graphics. They RFP'd design firms and those came from Troika. At the time, Troika had laid off most of their designers. Therefore, instead of anything original to meet TEGNA's needs, they recycled graphics designed from an advertising campaign for another client. I'm certain that TEGNA paid out the nose, regardless, for recycled mediocrity. -
ABC changing their logo; New graphics coming for ABC owned stations
ABC 7 Denver replied to Briella's topic in Graphics
Funny you should say that. The outgoing graphics were created by Ruth Dial, former partner/cofounder of Giant Octupus' and Nexstar's graphics creator (at LinearDrift) Rey Rodriguez. These new graphics have been 3 years in the making, created by Vivid Zero, a subsidiary of the clueless media consultants SmithGeiger who have no business owning a graphic design firm. Principle: Michael Vamosy (formerly of Stun Creative) -
The Ever-Evolving Gray Graphics Situation...Thread
ABC 7 Denver replied to NEOMatrix's topic in Graphics
Unlikely they'll do anything. -
I'm sorry. Are you under some illusion that TV News hypes for anything important these days? Of course this is the case.

Oh yeah. Ironically, Matt worked on this too. -
Take a look at KDVR.

The end of the video.

Running all stations like they're in Scranton and investing in them that way because you are ignorant to market size and diversity.
-
I like how they are so lazy that the slate shows Kansas. Like, who cares?
-
That looks like absolute crap. But meh. In line with Nexstar's general lack of interest in Colorado.

It's true because the science says it's true. Truth isn't an opinion. It's substantiated by evidence.

One of the last few markets where stations have their own choppers.

That's the thing. I think they're supposed to be a distraction because spectacle costs less money than expertise.

MY 53 (KMSG, Fresno) using unlicensed music?
ABC 7 Denver replied to newsn8te's topic in News Music & Voiceovers
Three days in and you want to say that? This is what bootstrapping a newscast looks like. Ctmajka shared this great video from '98 for Floyd Kalber's retirement from WLS. He launched KMTV's news department. What Austin is doing is similar. It's even more impressive and gutsy in a market like Fresno. -
Here's a thought: Nexstar buys WeatherNation or the WeatherChannel - instant weather.

Sure! And I know that Matt can do worlds better than that too. -

Matt also did quite a bit of work for WKYC, if you recall. God no! The Meredith look is an inconsistent hodgepodge. It's not a complete package. Get rid of that thing. Get rid of every Gray look. Wipe the slate. -
What an absolute shitshow NewsNation is. Nexstar doesn't deserve their stations if they keep funneling money like this.
-
For example, KDVR|KWGN too. They have several issues. Marketing is just one.
-
It will contribute, however.

News Channel Nebraska using WFLA's 2016 graphics?
ABC 7 Denver replied to kfc513's topic in Graphics
Do you know that from internal information or from a web resource? -
News Channel Nebraska using WFLA's 2016 graphics?
ABC 7 Denver replied to kfc513's topic in Graphics
I think dated is used in the context of something that adds a new dimension to motion graphics artistry. This doesn't do that. Given that this isn't listed on Rey Rodriguez's Linear Drift website and also knowing that Rey has a penchant for taking credit for other's work, I say that Tristan created this, not Rey/Linear Drift. Tristan owns the copyright and can do with it what he wants.
