    Since Fox may be looking to unload their entire O&O division, Standards seems like the more likely candidate.

    And go indie? That would be a lot more expensive. Also, this will allow CBS to unload 8 stations, allowing Nexstar to enter 5 key new markets and develop 2 new duopolies: KMAX would become a duopoly with KTXL. KBCW would be a duop with KRON. Plus they could flip their MyNetworkTV holdings as well, to become CW O&Os. It would certainly allow Nexstar and NewsNation to access a larger percentage of households, demanding larger control of the linear news market, and most importantly, shaping the news conversation. Remember, they who have the widest distribution have the most say. I guarantee this is Sean Compton's thinking. He cares little for true news. NewsNation is GOP state television.

    Queen City News is. Nexstar forces the stations to push NewsNation programming competing with their own broadcast affiliates. They demand additional packages but pay the staff no more for it. Nexstar throws tons of money at NewsNation but continues to let their stations suffer.

    Given the quickly dwindling subscription rate, only 72.7 million by 2023 from 100m in 2017, it's making less sense to brand your channel by cable position.

    If WFXT is what they consider a great investment of local news, then all stations under Standard are going to collapse. CMG is taking all assets from and dissolving the entire StandardMedia brand. Who knows what this means for WFXT, but WFXT is definitely not news leader. Maybe Standard can turn that around. WFAA hasn't been sold away from the Belo group before. I guess this is the final death knell.

    I mean, Sam is the former Chief Met for the top-rated station in the country and he's working early AM. I'd be thankful for him if I were ABC. Who get's someone of this caliber to do mornings? Hell, who get's someone of Lee Goldberg's and Sam Champion's caliber on the same airwaves. Nuts.

    Longtime Colorado Sports Anchor Les Shapiro has entered hospice after an unsuccessful battle with cancer. Les had been Sports Director at at WEEK-TV, CBS 4 Denver, et. al. Having spent most of his career in beautiful Colorado, Les was a kind, humble man who loved his job, spending many more years on the radio than anything.
