  1. And go indie? That would be a lot more expensive. Also, this will allow CBS to unload 8 stations, allowing Nexstar to enter 5 key new markets and develop 2 new duopolies: KMAX would become a duopoly with KTXL. KBCW would be a duop with KRON. Plus they could flip their MyNetworkTV holdings as well, to become CW O&Os. It would certainly allow Nexstar and NewsNation to access a larger percentage of households, demanding larger control of the linear news market, and most importantly, shaping the news conversation. Remember, they who have the widest distribution have the most say. I guarantee this is Sean Compton's thinking. He cares little for true news. NewsNation is GOP state television.
  2. Or, ya'know, buy a network for sale *cough* the CW *cough* and ramrod NewsNation down all affiliates whether they god-well-damn like it or not, because everyone loves a mandate.
  3. Queen City News is. Nexstar forces the stations to push NewsNation programming competing with their own broadcast affiliates. They demand additional packages but pay the staff no more for it. Nexstar throws tons of money at NewsNation but continues to let their stations suffer.
  4. For the absolutely nothing it's worth, KDVR.com has the new website look:
  5. Given the quickly dwindling subscription rate, only 72.7 million by 2023 from 100m in 2017, it's making less sense to brand your channel by cable position.
  6. I realize it's a globally recognized brand, but it's the tail wagging the dog.
  7. And CBS is rebranded to Paramount Television Network.
  8. Who has Denver's Duop?
  9. This looks like a set exhibit at NAB.
  10. I mean, Sam is the former Chief Met for the top-rated station in the country and he's working early AM. I'd be thankful for him if I were ABC. Who get's someone of this caliber to do mornings? Hell, who get's someone of Lee Goldberg's and Sam Champion's caliber on the same airwaves. Nuts.
  11. Longtime Colorado Sports Anchor Les Shapiro has entered hospice after an unsuccessful battle with cancer. Les had been Sports Director at at WEEK-TV, CBS 4 Denver, et. al. Having spent most of his career in beautiful Colorado, Les was a kind, humble man who loved his job, spending many more years on the radio than anything. Please keep his family in your thoughts during this challenging time. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Les_Shapiro
  12. Not gonna happen. They gummed up that set. That anchor desk has seen so many sets over the years:
  13. CBS News Colorado is live (nice rebrand, btw, but the graphics don't match network).
  14. It's not a full package.
  15. They're still piecemealing from 3 packages: The CBS brand look, the 2016 O&O look and the CBSN look.
  16. Because technically different management teams.
  17. Actually, that's a SmithGeiger decision as well.
  18. Nah. Nexstar-style and Sinclair-style sidecars pretty much baked in means that they're untouchable.
  19. Don't forget KDVR/KWGN: Oh, and KMGH "stole" it from a station in Texas.
  20. Let's be honest, it's WeatheBait. Let's call it what it is.
  21. You know the one. HATE THEM.
  22. Some moronic consultant came up with this.
  23. Number 1 isn't a reason, friend. WLKY uses Strive because all* Hearst stations use Strive. It's a group standard. *WMUR uses Hearst B because it has significant cross-coverage to WCVB.
  24. You can see that Nexstar doesn't put any value into their art direction. That "Local News That Matters" text is just a hastily implemented Video Copilot plugin.
