  1. I'm calling it "Life Raft News".
  2. KCNC has been using a hodgepodge of 4 different graphics packages for the last few years. It's a design mess.
  3. It looks like KCNC is going for a full rebrand to CBSNewsColorado. https://twitter.com/CBSNewsColorado
  4. Sook does not care if the writing is on the wall or not. At long as there's cash to suck from the Nexstar stations, NN will live on, as a parasite.
  5. Management always says "It's like nothing you've seen before" as PR spin. It was a project for Stun Creative. Essentially the principle sold the company to Smith-Geiger who changed the name to Vivid Zero. The principle has remained on board.
  6. Well, here's Nah. I just cut of the link. It's fixed now.
  7. Wow. Bland and uninteresting. In action, sort of: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qIjPxDHIgQ4
  8. It's a thing...
  9. TEGNA did not DO those graphics. They RFP'd design firms and those came from Troika. At the time, Troika had laid off most of their designers. Therefore, instead of anything original to meet TEGNA's needs, they recycled graphics designed from an advertising campaign for another client. I'm certain that TEGNA paid out the nose, regardless, for recycled mediocrity.
  10. Funny you should say that. The outgoing graphics were created by Ruth Dial, former partner/cofounder of Giant Octupus' and Nexstar's graphics creator (at LinearDrift) Rey Rodriguez. These new graphics have been 3 years in the making, created by Vivid Zero, a subsidiary of the clueless media consultants SmithGeiger who have no business owning a graphic design firm. Principle: Michael Vamosy (formerly of Stun Creative)
  11. Unlikely they'll do anything.
  12. I'm sorry. Are you under some illusion that TV News hypes for anything important these days? Of course this is the case.
  13. Oh yeah. Ironically, Matt worked on this too.
  14. It's true because the science says it's true. Truth isn't an opinion. It's substantiated by evidence.
  15. One of the last few markets where stations have their own choppers.
  16. That's the thing. I think they're supposed to be a distraction because spectacle costs less money than expertise.
  17. Here's a thought: Nexstar buys WeatherNation or the WeatherChannel - instant weather.
  18. Sure! And I know that Matt can do worlds better than that too.
  19. Matt also did quite a bit of work for WKYC, if you recall. God no! The Meredith look is an inconsistent hodgepodge. It's not a complete package. Get rid of that thing. Get rid of every Gray look. Wipe the slate.
  20. What an absolute shitshow NewsNation is. Nexstar doesn't deserve their stations if they keep funneling money like this.
  21. For example, KDVR|KWGN too. They have several issues. Marketing is just one.
  22. It will contribute, however.
  23. https://tvnewscheck.com/business/article/fox-should-dump-broadcast-net-says-wall-street-analyst/
  24. Since Fox may be looking to unload their entire O&O division, Standards seems like the more likely candidate.
  25. And go indie? That would be a lot more expensive. Also, this will allow CBS to unload 8 stations, allowing Nexstar to enter 5 key new markets and develop 2 new duopolies: KMAX would become a duopoly with KTXL. KBCW would be a duop with KRON. Plus they could flip their MyNetworkTV holdings as well, to become CW O&Os. It would certainly allow Nexstar and NewsNation to access a larger percentage of households, demanding larger control of the linear news market, and most importantly, shaping the news conversation. Remember, they who have the widest distribution have the most say. I guarantee this is Sean Compton's thinking. He cares little for true news. NewsNation is GOP state television.
