  1. Or, ya'know, buy a network for sale *cough* the CW *cough* and ramrod NewsNation down all affiliates whether they god-well-damn like it or not, because everyone loves a mandate.
  2. Queen City News is. Nexstar forces the stations to push NewsNation programming competing with their own broadcast affiliates. They demand additional packages but pay the staff no more for it. Nexstar throws tons of money at NewsNation but continues to let their stations suffer.
  3. For the absolutely nothing it's worth, KDVR.com has the new website look:
  4. Given the quickly dwindling subscription rate, only 72.7 million by 2023 from 100m in 2017, it's making less sense to brand your channel by cable position.
  5. Who has Denver's Duop?
  6. This looks like a set exhibit at NAB.
  7. I mean, Sam is the former Chief Met for the top-rated station in the country and he's working early AM. I'd be thankful for him if I were ABC. Who get's someone of this caliber to do mornings? Hell, who get's someone of Lee Goldberg's and Sam Champion's caliber on the same airwaves. Nuts.
  8. Longtime Colorado Sports Anchor Les Shapiro has entered hospice after an unsuccessful battle with cancer. Les had been Sports Director at at WEEK-TV, CBS 4 Denver, et. al. Having spent most of his career in beautiful Colorado, Les was a kind, humble man who loved his job, spending many more years on the radio than anything. Please keep his family in your thoughts during this challenging time. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Les_Shapiro
  9. Not gonna happen. They gummed up that set. That anchor desk has seen so many sets over the years:
  10. CBS News Colorado is live (nice rebrand, btw, but the graphics don't match network).
  11. It's not a full package.
  12. They're still piecemealing from 3 packages: The CBS brand look, the 2016 O&O look and the CBSN look.
  13. Because technically different management teams.
  14. Nah. Nexstar-style and Sinclair-style sidecars pretty much baked in means that they're untouchable.
  15. Number 1 isn't a reason, friend. WLKY uses Strive because all* Hearst stations use Strive. It's a group standard. *WMUR uses Hearst B because it has significant cross-coverage to WCVB.
  16. You can see that Nexstar doesn't put any value into their art direction. That "Local News That Matters" text is just a hastily implemented Video Copilot plugin.
  17. You're not familiar with colloquialisms?
  18. This is very easy. There is no Meredith creative hub. Matt Quinn, over at Hothaus, designed the standardized Meredith package originally for WSMV. It was implemented at every other Meredith station when Bob St. Charles became Group Director, as all marketing was hubbed before the sale. Now, however, that each station has a CSD again and Bob is back to being solely the CSD for WSMV, stations will inevitably go in their own direction. Hilton Howell highly prefers that all stations use Gray graphics. There are some holdouts, certainly, but those will eventually cave.
  19. If you watch almost ALL of the Nexstar stations, you will see that Nexstar almost never hires Art Directors and CSDs who know their design language. Especially because most CSDs come from News, not Marketing and can't translate research to a comprehensive brand. The industry just doesn't care anymore.
  20. The CSD is clueless. An L3 with 5 different colors is too damn busy!
  21. Enforcer has seen several iterations of updates. Stations can use anything they want, composed from 1994 to 2020. However, stations typically use a mix of themes which can make the branding sound inconsistent. CBS Local was composed on the cheap. Stations are becoming less willing to pay for high quality music. So you get a lot of rushed, almost ubiquitous sounding packages that don't set the station apart from any other in the market. ABC has the edge because they invest more in station resources.
  22. Canvas.
  23. We're weird. Is all of Philly as weird as we are?
  24. Are people in Philly that bored?
