Well WMAR could move The Insider from the slot left open by Let's Ask America but are their any scheduling restrictions in relation to ET and The Insider?

In a bit of corporate synergy the Minion took over the Today show. The fans out on the plaza had minion to-shirts and glasses on. While the Orange Room turned yellow. At first glance it looked like they painted it but looking closer you could see they covered the walls up with yellow wood, in addition they laid down yellow carpet and replaced the lamps as well.

Thanks for the info. I know very little on the ad side of TV (prefer engineering and still am learning). I'm curious how does NBC deal with the what was supposed to be a four hour broadcast to an eight hour broadcast ad wise? I imagine they ran threw most of their inventory during the rain delay but would they repeat ads (assuming the could get money from them) or could they pull some advertisements from upcoming races?

I think someone mentioned that WBAL was going to record their newscast at 11:30. It makes sense just incase they didn't make the 11:30 starting time and they decided to postpone the race until tomorrow. I'm curious why is 2AM the contigency time? Locally WBAL plays out Dateline and Meet The Press starting at 2 AM but that time seems to vary from station to station. But now that you mention it 2AM is the latest I've seen a newscast start due to sports over runs.

The only Chicago shots I've seen are flash cams either the control room or some weird shot where the wall is stacked I beams. The web of the I beams have inserts that can be changed showing the NBC News or Noticiero Telemundo logo.

WCAU now has a drone: http://www.nbcphiladelphia.com/video/#!/news/local/NBC10-s-New-Aerial-News-Camera-Debuts/311601241 Having trouble playing this on my iPad.

I got a news alert from WTVJ saying the GE Building is officially renamed the Comcast Building. I doubt many people will actually call it Comcast Building.

Instead of bumping an old thread I thought I would post this here. It appears the Comcast/Peacock sign on 30 Rock is now up. I haven't seen any mention on the national newscasts so I guess that it's not completely up and running. I think it looks pretty good. https://twitter.com/anthonyquintano/status/610081006310309888

There hasn't been an example of this kind in Baltimore. However WJZ helped WMAR (they share a transmitter building) get back on air during the barricade situation last year and many years ago WBAL and WJZ were evacuated because a crane on their tower became loose. WJZ reported from WBFF's garage and WBAL broadcasted from MPT's studios.

Found some interesting comments (that I had to rewrite as I'm on my phone so forgive me for errors) on this video I posted: [yt]8Ngumw2qCfI[/yt] I find the last one interesting. I imagine WJZ is a bit like WPVI but even they moved into the future. I guess the want to keep the Baltimore kitsch. . It makes me wonder why WJZ is worried when the other stations upgraded their set and graphics with no viewer out range online.

I have no idea about that but I was surprised to learn that WMAR is still a union shop through IBEW & SAG/AFTRA (WBAL is the other Baltimore union). Makes me look at WMAR in a better light.

The only reason I could think of is that those station they're cutting staff /resources are in the red and are trying to balance their books. Perhaps once they even out they get more resources.

Well isn't that the anchors job during a tornado warning? To ask dumb questions that viewers should know but are ignorant to.

Seems like WBAL is still trying to work out combinations for their newscasts. Today at 5 it was Stan and Donna, at 6 it's Stan and Kate and at 11 looks like it will be Stan and Donna. I only mention this because WBAL's doesn't always mention talent moves unless someone's coming in. At the beginning of the fall season last year they added Lisa Robinson to anchor the noon news with Sarah Caldwell. They then moved Deborah Weiner from weekend evenings to weekend mornings filling the spot Lisa left. Finally they upped Kai Reed as anchor for the weekend evening newscasts. They didn't make a mention of it on air until a week or two after they took effect. I thought they were filling in until I stumbled onto their biographies.

I'm impressed they put an UHD camera on board. I imagine they acquire it in UHD and send a down converted image. I guess they also have the ability to zoom in / crop an HD image out.

Normally WBAL kind of makes sure one of their now "flagship" anchors is in when the other is off but today Donna Hamilton and Stan Stovall were out. They had Kate Amara (who normally fills in for the one of the anchors) and Jason Newton do a swing shift anchoring the 5&6PM shows. Maybe I'm thinking too much into this but I wonder if now that Stan Stovall has taken over the 6PM (unofficially - no announcements yet) if they're considering giving in the 5PM show to Jason and having him do a swing shift like Stan did for many years. I believe Stan did the AM shows and the 5 PM shows for about nine years.

WVIT's Todd Piro seems to have been filling in for Betty Nguyen on Early Today/First Look over the past few months. Wondering if they are auditioning him for something else (maybe the west coast retaking of Early Today?)

WPVI launched their Apple Watch app. https://instagram.com/p/3rVxd8LdVU/ Wonder if someone could write off the watch as a work expense.

Does WNBC do any special coverage for the Belmont Stakes like a pre race show? I know that for the Kentucky Derby WAVE and WLEX produced two hour preshows. WBAL produced a three and a half hour preshow for the Preakness Stakes preempting an NHL game. From what I've read the preshows in Louisville and Baltimore win their timeslots by a large margin.

You want to know what's even more fascinating the word WeatheRate name is not trademarked, copyrighted nor does the name get any hits on the US patent office (their technique is supposedly patented). Maybe there are other things that could protect this company's name but if not the stations are paying for a word that they could use with out shelling out $.

Today the 5PM newscast on WBAL was anchored by Donna Hamilton and Deborah Weiner. They didn't make any mention of a Stan Stovall being out but when they previewed the 6PM newscast Stan Stovall was in the newsroom. I wonder if they are trying out anchor combinations with Donna right now.

Thanks for the insight. I guess the switch to the new graphics is imminent. They seem to like to switch on Wednesdays for some reason. I will say it seems like they are moving quicker than I would have thought at WJCL given how much they were dependent on the hub. As far as I know they probably didn't have much of a master control infrastructure in place given how LIN is a central caster rather than command/ control situation.

It does but it's a good way to hide the background.

I've wondered why a lot of Hearst stations have issues with the temperature boxes during weekends? It looks very odd how the column for the weekend is yellow but the box the temperatures are blue.
