  1. Talking (speculating) about station GROUP pick-ups is fine, but we don't (aren't) going to do this for INDIVIDUAL stations. We'll find out in 3-6 months.
  2. I broke off all the CBS talk into its own thread. There wasn't a clean break, so there may still be some of that here from late last year, but the soap and CBS talk continues here... https://forums.tvnewstalk.net/topic/20889-the-future-of-cbs-daytime/
  3. I've split this discussion off from the NBC News Daily thread, as it veered way off course to the CBS discussion.
  4. If D was doing everything from 4pm on, I think they would possibly opt for a platoon option at midday, but leaving the 5 vacant suggests that SOMEBODY will get a full-time weekday assignment. I'm assuming that it'll be Janssen, Joyce & Donovan until they make an announcement, but I don't think there's any rush. Semi-related, I never knew they made a sports anchorless 5pm talent rejoin after Dan retired. It's obviously now out of date, but it was just Micah, Ray, Tom & Shannon. I don't like not declaring a sports anchor at the evening hours, but whatever. I hate that they can't officially name JP to the 9. Having a declared sports anchor at 4, but carrying a rotation on all the other shows is so weird.
  5. Joelle Garguilo and Michael Gargiulo's last names are spelled differently, so no.
  6. "This is what I mean." We know what the set looks like. Screenshots don't prove your point.
  7. No idea about ratings, but Lyons is a stabilizer. WBBM is competently-staffed, and puts out a quality, if little-watched product. As a viewer and news junkie, that's as important as building the ratings. As for WGN, they didn't miss a beat. They're in the WLS club of Don't Actively F#ck It Up & You'll Do Great.
  8. By 2009, Rob Johnson was anchoring evenings solo, and ratings were rising. That fall, Bill was brought in to shoot some promos and feature some of his cold case investigations. At some point, Walter returned to do his commentaries. In November '09, Rob was off, and the station heavily promoted a one night only reunion of the legends on the 10pm news. It was well-received, and they were installed as 6pm co-anchors by September of 2010. Once their contracts ran out in (I think) February '13, they were "retired." Given a full farewell, but it wasn't really their choice.
  9. Boy, it's been a long time since we had someone start a good old fashioned list thread.
  10. By mayoral proclamation, today is Tom Skilling Day in Chicago, in honor of his 72nd birthday & next week's retirement.
  11. Morning Express on CNN would be a square peg in a round hole. There's a reason it co-existed with the flagship. They want to do a show on CNN that has panels and politics, and that is the polar opposite of everything HLN was airing. IF 'Morning Express' and its former anchor were brought to CNN, it would be in name only, and Robin Meade would be terribly miscast.
  12. Wow, if only they posted all their newscasts online, after they air. Oh, wait... https://abc7ny.com/tag/wabc-newscasts/
  13. These. Are. Fanmade. And. Not. Accurate. Or. Correct.
  14. They were still using live staff announcers, at this point, and until around '91. It was likely just a spot fill-in.
  15. Gerard Jebaily is now in Baltimore, Mary Kay is semi-retired, and now Robb Ellis is apparently gone from the weather team. His bio was removed from the station website, last week, and his social media bios have been similarly updated. A listing for a full-time meteorologist position was posted in mid-January.
  16. Also notable, that's sports anchor Jim Rose with the opening voiceover, that night.
  17. They're identical, though the two .png files you attached aren't accurate. Those feature a different circle 7 than the 2021 versions. KABC and KGO are now identical, too, and all 4 stations use the same numeral.
  18. Humor me. What part of this is the new graphics, other than the fact that they're using the correct, current ABC?
  19. Based on the headlines, it's end of summer 1993.
  20. Bingo. Another feature of the live-rendered opens.
  21. Unfortunately, this is a problem on your end.
