  1. Hey, from a housekeeping standpoint for the mod staff, some users need to do better and actually look to make sure there isn't already a thread for a certain topic before posting their own. Just had to merge four threads into one on this news. Too many frustrated, aspiring journalists around here that are too focused on being first on stuff. End of rant. Then cancel everything else, too. 60 Minutes, the Evening News, The Price is Right, and the Late Show are the absolute last things that should be touched, if you're trying to look competent and inspire confidence. I'm not giving Trump credit, but there is a very obvious message being sent here. Either that, or you might start seeing other top talent walking across the network before they get told they can't get paid.
  2. I'd assume Calvi continues as weekend anchor and fill-in, so her. She hasn't been off since Deb left, though, so we might see one of the correspondents show up as host, at some point, too.
  3. And Dane Placko was anchoring yesterday morning. I haven't remembered to check in on the 4:30am weekday slot in forever. Is that an Elizabeth Matthews slot now, or was she was off, this weekend?
  4. Heck, with everything going on at CBS at all levels, the dust may not settle on the talent moves until the fall...or longer.
  5. Let's shift stuff for the upcoming 2025-26 season to the new thread, and start winding this one down, only for stuff relevant to the now-completed season.
  6. From the Broadcast Plaza server, here's the first peak at the new NBC-Telemundo Newsroom. The new set is slated for later this year, and I'd imagine this follows a similar timeline.

  8. I'm guessing OP didn't mean live tapings in that window, just that the shows that air then are all from that building. GMA3 isn't live at 1, either, if we went by your thinking.
  9. We might actually be seeing a fairly hard reset on the show's design language. Colors can be changes, for sure, but they seem to be committing to a VERY different look. https://pagesix.com/2025/06/13/entertainment/gma-bids-farewell-to-times-square-studios-with-boozy-breakfast-at-irish-pub/
  10. Don't worry, everybody's expectations here are already low.
  11. New/modified definitely is the correct description. Looks like a little nod to the 2002 logo, but with the 2006 font. I said on the Discord that I'd like to think there's a little wink to AM America, in there, too.
  12. I've never known a group of people who loves talking about something they hate more than this group in this thread. A lot of assumptions are being made about something none of us have seen. Maybe we'll all be pleasantly surprised, if anyone's willing to deviate from the narrative. Like, how about this? Sam was backstage at the new space, this morning, and was holding a mug with a new/modified logo.
  13. Meanwhile, fun throwback the last few days, as Michael has been off, but they've opted to keep Robin & George as a duo.
  14. They showed a teaser timelapse of the new studio, and it obviously doesn't show much, but don't be surprised if some general concepts carry over from Times Square. You get an idea of the size of the space in the first image. It's apparently the same size as The View's and Live's studios, but should feel even more open with no audience risers. In the second pic, you can make out wood-tone beams across the ceiling, a large, possibly L-shaped video wall to the left, and a curved desk against a video wall in the foreground. The desk looks like a stand-in for the final product, but it's thankfully a lot smaller than the outgoing model. In the back corner, you can make out some kind of non-video wall feature, though the short end wall (top right) is likely to be a giant screen. In addition to Charlie Gibson voicing a new team promo as the 50th anniversary festivities start to pick up, Diane Sawyer is likely to be in-studio on Monday, promoting a new sit-down interview she did with an actor.
  15. As an outsider, it makes them sound like an illegitimate source. Either call them by their brand, or just stick to the calls. Be professional.
  16. Doing well or not, the series is still happening. The first concert will close the Times Square studio. The 2nd won't take place for another 5 weeks, and will be in Indianapolis at the WNBA All-Star weekend. Locations for the remainder of the slate were not announced. https://www.goodmorningamerica.com/culture/story/gma-2025-summer-concert-series-lineup-122417396
  17. TIL Rick Telander joined the station as a special columnist. (14 years at Sports Illustrated & the last 30 at the Chicago Sun-Times)
  18. Local stations "bid" on the OTA rights of games that are otherwise streaming-only (Prime, Netflix, etc.) or on cable, no matter their affiliations. That said, the Falcons only have 2 such games, this season, so that obviously wouldn't be enough to prop up a station.
  19. The moderators have recently had to hide several posts from less-seasoned users, asking about individual stations' launches. Gray has like a thousand stations, we don't need to see inquiries about all of them. Please try and show some restraint, from this point on.
  20. Between here and the Discord, we've seen multiple people confirm that this is a new package for the group, so there's been a thread title change.
  21. Steve Dolinsky is getting out of broadcasting entirely at the end of the month, taking a job scouting for concepts and collaborations for Levy Restaurants. His research will inform and mold the foods they serve at sports and entertainment venues across the country. The company is based in Chicago. He also mentions the brand new studio they'll be getting later this year.
  22. Respectfully, we don't really encourage the creation of general threads, anymore, especially if it's being started with no particular headline or reason. The long, drawn-out process of this merger doesn't really count as so much is just currently in limbo. No matter their past, lumping in other groups' stations here is also unnecessary, as those companies likely already have pre-existing threads. Please refer to site rules. https://localnewstalk.net/guidelines/ Threads should have a targeted discussion topic: Creating threads that have no real topic of discussion (such as a "general" thread about a particular company or station) is not allowed without permission from the administration. Though threads of this nature exist from before this rule was put into effect, we discourage posting in them, as it makes it harder to find discussions about a particular topic, or causes numerous parallel conversations to take place at once. While not updated in several months, there is already a thread about the Paramount-Skydance merger. https://localnewstalk.net/topic/21444-skydance-to-buy-paramount-global/ If you're looking to discuss the political issues involved with keeping CBS's journalism independent while trying to get federal approval, there's a thread for that. https://localnewstalk.net/topic/21709-60-minutes-in-the-age-of-trump-20/ For better or worse, this thread has also already been used as a CBS O&O catch-all. https://localnewstalk.net/topic/19633-eight-cbs-stations-to-ditch-cw-and-go-independent-this-fall/
  23. @bennettmonk Since you seem to only react to posts with emojis instead of ever actually saying something, I'll post a screenshot of the thumbnail. That way we can clear up your apparent confusion ().
  24. Yesterday was apparently the debut of the streaming hour. The full launch show is here.
