And perhaps the buried lede, Sir Charles & Dickie V in the First Four.

The same week that Nexstar cut 17 (at last count) high-profile on-air talent at their three largest stations, now we're getting word from our online & Nexstar sources that sweeping cuts are now being made across any and all Creative Services departments. Number of people and/or stations being impacted are still unclear, but this all appears to be part of cost reductions as the company looks to ram through complete its acquisition of the Tegna group stations. I'll post more details when I hear it.

In a late addition, morning traffic anchor Alexa Farrell is also out.
-
The hits keep coming. Our same source confirms that reporter/weathercaster Kacey Montoya & reporter Ellina Abovian were also among those let go.
-
I think there is a reasonable chance that the weekend morning news gets canceled. Maybe not for several months, but soon enough, either way. I could see some scenario where Ben's duties expand and Tahman adds an anchor shift, in addition to his 6:45p show.
-
Not aware, at this time. The cuts at the sister stations have seemingly all been on-air talent.
-
For those not aware, WGN dismissed 9 anchors/reporters yesterday, and KTLA knocked out at least 3 on-air talent, as well. Now, after confirmation from a Nexstar source, WPIX has made some high profile cuts of their own. Gone as of today are: Kori Chambers, lead/late co-anchor Arrianee Lebeau, early evening co-anchor John Muller, weekend morning & original weekday morning co-anchor There could be more, but those are the only names we have, at this time.

Promos have been made for a Karen-led team. There is no anchor vacancy. She is now solo.
-
A Nexstar source of ours can confirm Mark Kriski, Glen Walker, and Lu Parker are indeed gone. We don't have any reporter names, at this time, but don't doubt that there are others.
-
Those nine individuals combined for approx. 166 years at WGN/CLTV.

The full list, in addition to Lewis, Richards & Janssen, which totals 9... Ray Cortopassi, lead anchor Paul Lisnek, political analyst Chris Boden, sports anchor Julian Crews, reporter Judy Wang, reporter Bronagh Tumulty, reporter https://www.ftvlive.com/sqsp-test/2026/2/24/nexstar-swings-the-blade-in-chi-town

After @R.R. was tipped off earlier today, I was able to verify a round of on-air talent layoffs at WGN that have claimed as many as 8 individuals. A close Nexstar source confirmed that entertainment reporter/commercial VO/radio host Dean Richards & weekend evening meteorologist Mike Janssen were among the ousted. If our other hunches are correct, as many as 2 anchors and 3 other reporters were also cut, but we can't yet confirm those exits. We could be talking about a 100 years' worth of WGN experience being walked out the door.

No graphics changes for Chicago's CHSN & Marquee networks.

It's the mascot owl for the language-learning app Duolingo. Not an ID, just a 5-second ad buy, Wouldn't be shocked if it was a teaser for a Super Bowl ad.

I feel like this discussion is getting a little too off-topic for stuff that goes beyond just KABC.
-
Dispatch is great for New York, I'd even accept it in Chicago, but tonally, it's absolutely a downgrade in LA. And While WABC's font works for them, they're more likely to fall in line with the 3 others than for New York's to roll out to the rest, which was the plan at the package's launch.

Good vibes don't pay the bills.

I do think KGO keeping ABC7 News as a brand online is not ideal, but that's a gripe I've had with them for years. Go all-in on ABC7 Bay Area best you can and call it a day.
-
Fixed that for you. But I'm biased.
-
We knew about KABC making the change tonight, and we also knew KGO was going to, but the rebrand to Eyewitness News is a surprise.
-
One spoiler: Shiny. Blue. Floor. Like, blue like the graphics blue.
-
Phil Lipof is anchoring at KUSA in Denver. Hard to pull double-duty.
-
If they aren't already, all of Tegna's NBC stations will have the refresh in time for the Olympics.
-
My point stands. WABC's was a nice set-up, but not pioneering a new concept.
