RenderON tends to be flashy, so I'm curious to see how they would do a "flat" look. You're probably the first person I've heard say that. They were good enough and aged well enough that multiple stations were trying to copy the look years after it came out.
-
Fascinating, so there is some input from the stations (though I don't really expect news managers to have in-depth musical analysis skills).

I'm actually very curious to know how this process works. Do they go to a company and say "hey, pimp my VizRT," and let them work their magic coming back with several concepts, or do they go to them with a set idea in mind and then tweak it as it's developed? Do they consult the stations (I highly doubt it) and ask opinions?

There have been very subtle changes over the years, but I wouldn't mind seeing a complete makeover. That's probably more in line with Scripps' style.

I don't want to anger the gods mods by getting so far off topic so I'll leave at this, but no not really. Lombardo is still making some money off of two of his three stations. If someone came up and offered him enough cash, sure he'd probably do it, but right now he seems to be content until he dies. Those Citadel stations would benefit greatly from a new owner though.

KETV isn't available in much of the Lincoln market, specifically in the counties that border the DMAs. KLKN/Citadel has made sure of that. I believe KETV was recently taken off of Spectrum lineups in favor of KLKN exclusively (before you could get both). You can probably pull them in over the air, otherwise it's unlikely you'll get them. KETV/Hearst detest the very existence of KLKN because they take viewers and ad revenue that would otherwise go to them. The two affiliates don't talk to each other. KMTV doesn't really go out their way to try and complete with KOLN.

Indeed, you can add at least KSHB to that list.

Wow! That's astonishing.

People are cancelling because they're charging so damn much. It's a negative feedback loop. You raise prices, someone can't afford it so they drop it, cable companies lose money so they feel the need (I won't say 'have') to raise prices, someone can't afford it... I'm pretty young (early 20s). Most people my age don't have cable and the number one reason why is it's too expensive. What isn't being discussed, though, is that some people are buying streaming platforms that sometimes they're paying nearly as much if they just had cable. The difference is that they can cancel it whenever and bring it back whenever, no problem. Others refuse to pay. Why? Because it's too expensive.
-
The people who say they'll never watch again are often the ones who call or write back a week later to complain again. They're either idle threats or they hate watch.
-
...."Streaming News Leader?" Seriously? That may be worse than KSN's "We've Got Your Back."

Public affairs people aren't always the most chatty to the media.

I'm appalled KETV didn't already have a midday newscast.

The game is canceled unless one of the teams need the game to become bowl eligible, in which case they'll play it in December.

Strong storms knocked KLKN in Lincoln off the air for several hours last night. The transmitter was eventually able to broadcast late last night before being knocked off air again sometime around 7 this morning. They're back up now.
-
If they're not careful KCTV will turn into the WGCL of the Midwest.
-
That's a clever little promo. Why are they switching?
-
Probably because they have the stigma of "former CNN anchor" attached to their name.

Lisa Benson, who has an ongoing racial lawsuit against KSHB, has left after 14 years (and 3 months). http://www.ftvlive.com/sqsp-test/2018/6/14/reporter-that-sued-kc-station-is-now-gone-from-the-station Dee Jackson, a sports anchor/reporter, also has a racial discrimination lawsuit pending. It'll be interesting to see if he leaves next.

Can't wait to see how big the hashmark ratings will be.
-
That may be intentional since we heard the rumor CBS is mulling the idea of showing Glor as little as possible since ratings haven't done well under him. Speaking of ratings, FTVLive reports that The Wrap reports CBSEN's ratings are consistently down since he took over. Makes you wonder if CBS thinks they made a mistake.

It's just a horizontal version of the vertical logo.

He seems personally offended for some reason. I maintain that he's so upset because he doesn't want the image of one of his reporters nearly getting killed on live TV out there on the internet. That, or he's upset that FTVLive kind of implied that Lewis knowingly sent his reporter in close to a very dangerous situation without thinking much of her safety.

So is the quality of these better or worse? Is it literally one HUGE LED screen, or is it similar to a rear projection? I would think you'd get higher quality out of multiple large monitors than one large one that could have a washed out appearance.

Sounds like the ND is trying to avoid bad publicity about the safety of his reporters, but is instead getting bad publicity for how he's reacting to it. The hostility is totally unwarranted.
